When the final whistle sounded at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday evening, not even numerous warnings of the scenes expected to unravel could prepare me for an amazing hour and a half.
As a Charlton Athletic fan and a man in love with the Welsh capital having spent many a weekend up there with friends, the fourth-from-last Championship fixture was marked in my calendar a long time ago.
And while a point at the league leaders was a pleasing finish, nothing could compare with the reaction of the home supporters to the result:
And if this is anything to go by, it will be a campaign worth watching - not least for the top-flight edition of the Welsh derby...
