Well, that didn't take long, did it? After a flawless pre-season, the Louis van Gaal honeymoon came thudding to a stop as Swansea left Old Trafford with three points on Saturday.
And the Sunday papers were quick to stick the boot in – here’s a review of the best front and back pages:
THE MAIL ON SUNDAY: VAN DAMNED - Depressing reading for LVG as Paul Scholes calls him too negative, while the ghost of David Moyes makes a reappearance.
THE INDEPENDENT ON SUNDAY: LOUIS VAN SNARL - More top punning, with Van Gaal laying into his players and plotting swoops for (stop us if you've heard these before) Arturo Vidal and Daley Blind.
THE SUN ON SUNDAY: SMASHED TO PIECES - Most papers jump on Van Gaal's admission that United's confidence has been 'smashed' and the Sun is no exception.
SUNDAY PEOPLE: OUTCASTS - The tabloid claims that Nani, Anderson and Wilfried Zaha have been totally frozen out of first team activities - odd since Nani came on at half-time yesterday. More on that one in Paper Round.
SUNDAY MIRROR: SHOW ME THE MONEY - The Mirror focuses on Van Gaal's post-match comments suggesting he thinks his current squad are a useless bunch of stiffs in desperate need of improvement.
THE OBSERVER: HERE WE GO AGAIN - The Reds' woe makes it on to the front page - it's deja vu all over again for United fans.
DAILY STAR SUNDAY: LOU-SER! - Well, best to get that one out of the way Early Doors, really.
SUNDAY EXPRESS: LVG SLAMS UNITED STARS - Van Gaal is a notoriously straight talker, so expect plenty more Sunday back pages like this over the course of the season.
