An England fan has taken a rather unusual approach to showing his support for the team out in Brazil.

Kai Ward, a taxi driver from Bognor Regis, has had England captain Steven Gerrard's face - or what is supposed to be Steven Gerrard's face - shaved into the back of his hair.

"I have had some funny looks from people but it is worth it if it can give the team a good luck charm," he told the Metro. We'll save you some time there Kai: it won't.

2) SUPERMODEL GISELE TO HAVE KEY WORLD CUP ROLE - Gisele Bundchen to present the World Cup to the winning team

What, as if this would trump Sepp Blatter... supermodel Gisele Bundchen will present the World Cup to the winners in Brazil, according to reports.

The Boston Globe claim the 33-year-old will replace Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff, who has been criticised for spending public money on hosting the tournament.

FIFA president Blatter handed the trophy to Spain captain Iker Casillas in South Africa in 2010, but given his popularity is incredibly low, Bundchen will reportedly step in at the Maracana Stadium in Rio on January 13.

Pele gets stuck in traffic jam, misses first half of Brazil match

Part of being a legend should be that you are immune to suffering traffic jam nightmares. Sadly, that isn't the case for Pele, who had to miss the first half of Brazil's World Cup match with Mexico because of getting stuck on the roads.

"For the first time I had to listen to the first half of a Brazil game inside a car, we were stuck in traffic," the Brazilian great told Globo TV.

Much of Brazil ground to a halt for the match, the hosts' second of the tournament, with the second largest city Sao Paulo suffering near record traffic jams as scores of residents rushed back home to watch. Incredibly inconsiderate for Pele.

Irish broadcaster drops Neymar-related expletive on air

Unaware that he was on air during Brazil's match with Mexico, Eamon Dunphy responded to RTE presenter Bill O'Herlihy's question about the level of expectation on the Brazil players by referring back to Neymar's second goal from the penalty spot against Croatia.

"When Neymar was shaping up to take that penalty, I thought he was f***ing dreading it," Dunphy said, as fellow panelist, former Germany midfielder Dietmar Hamann, toyed with his mobile phone.

"I apologise for that, obviously that was an inexactitude," the embarrassed presenter hastily said - with O'Herlihy chipping in with his own apology - before moving swiftly on to the panel's predictions. Oh dear.

World goes berserk for incredible ‘six-fingered’ goalkeeper Ochoa

There were suggestions that Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa had six fingers on his right hand - and yes, many, many people fell for it immediately.

But, unfortunately, this claim was nothing more than sneaky internet fabrication and it left many to question just what exactly social fiends will make up next in pursuit of a good yarn.
