Giving player ratings after a big match is common practice for most websites and newspapers around the world.

Well Spanish newspaper AS are no different, but they deemed Steven Gerrard's performance against Uruguay on Thursday night so poor that they did not even rate him.

AS gives players ratings out of three, and while predictably Luis Suarez was clear three-out-of-three, his Liverpool team-mate didn't even register.

Daniel Sturridge, Wayne Rooney, Leighton Baines and Glen Johnson were deemed England's best performers with two star ratings.

The rest of the team, except of course for Gerrard, were giving one star (or a spade as the paper seems to illustrate things).

Gerrard played an unfortunate role in both Uruguay goals. Giving the ball away in the run-up to the opening goal, before it was his header which put Suarez through on goal for the Suarez's winner.
