A group of Dutch fans have created a novel way to support their team – by dressing up as Panini stickers of their nation’s stars.

While Arjen Robben, Robin Van Persie, Wesley Sneijder and Jasper Cillessen were starring on the pitch, their supporter doppelgangers were getting into the spirit of the World Cup with life-sized cut-outs of their favourite players at the Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador.

Their commendable efforts were rewarded as Netherlands avenged their 2010 World Cup final defeat to Spain with a 5-1 mauling of their European rivals in Group B.

Van Persie and Robben both bagged two goals each, with Stefan de Vrij also finding the net for the Dutch.

Spain, who also lost the opening match of the 2010 tournament before going on to claim the trophy, must now regroup before their other two group games with Chile and Australia.
