They may been knocked out of the World Cup, but Karim Benzema and James Rodriguez have what is arguably a greater prize.

For the latest edition of the Castrol Index is out, and those two players take the top spots, despite their teams losing in the quarter-finals to Germany and Brazil respectively.

France striker Benzema tops the list with Rodriguez second, while defender Raphael Varane earns third place but David Luiz, despite scoring a 30-yard free-kick to secure Brazil's win over Colombia, slips down from top spot last week to seventh this time.

Dutch defender Stefan de Vrij is a surprise entry to the top ten, but there is still no room for Lionel Messi, who may well lead his country to glory in Rio de Janeiro in Sunday's final. Jan Vertonghen clings on to his spot in the top ten, despite Belgium's defeat to Argentina.
