Oh well. It was good while it lasted (Well, it wasn't). Even though it was over in less than six days.

A Bryan Ruiz goal saw Costa Rica sink Italy 1-0 to progress to the last 16. England were forced to sit and suffer at their hotel in Rio de Janeiro by watching the Central Americans apply the last rites to their 2014 World Cup final campaign.

England - with 2-1 defeats to Italy and Uruguay - are officially dead in the Group of Death.

Roy Hodgson's side conclude their trip to Brazil with a Group D match against Costa Rica on Tuesday. Then it is time to fly home. As you can imagine, the inquest on Twitter is starting to heat up. Here are some of the latest tweets of the day.

Cheer up though, England can put this all right at Euro 2016:

The Daily Telegraph outlined just how badly England fared by publishing this eye-catching front page for their sports section on Saturday. The malady lingers on.

This made us laugh. Check out the reaction. Hope, smile and then despair in six seconds. And then in six days.

Would be a good time to get out of Brazil now. No doubt about it.

Maybe England's humiliation is a blessing in disguise - they would have went out on penalties if they got to the knockout stages anyhow.

While tongue-in-cheek from Mr Boyle, he actually may have a point here!

Listen to Chris Waddle. Here is a former player with real passion.

Some people just can't accept the fact that football is only a game.
