1) WHAT THE... HOW ON EARTH DID HE MISS THAT? - Huge miss of the season contender against Bayern

It seemed inconceivable that Junior Malanda would not score for Wolfsburg against Bayern Munich as he raced through on goal and eventually found himself a yard out with no goalkeeper in place.

But astonishingly, the Belgian midfielder contrived to miss in a hilarious incident the Allianz Arena crowd will not forget about any time soon.

The way that Malanda reacts to shinning the ball wide in front of an unguarded net really said it all with the crowd and players just as stunned as the player himself.

Poor guy: he will surely have nightmares about the miss for many weeks to come.

She may have been wearing heels and a skirt, but that did not stop Serena Williams from demonstrating her extraordinary accuracy and power with a tennis racquet in her hands.

Serena was appearing on the Late Show with David Letterman before embarking on her US Open title defence, and she made sure that she left her mark.

The tennis star was invited to blast tennis balls at the front windows of Rupert Jee's Hello Deli, and Williams made no mistake in aiming just perfectly to shatter the glass in front of a delighted audience.

3) NIGHTMARE DEBUT FOR NANI - Former United winger endures torrid first match back at Sporting

Any Manchester United fans who were sad to see the club sell Nani back to Sporting Lisbon (there must have been some...?) would have quickly changed their minds on Saturday.

The winger endured a nightmare return for his boyhood club against Arouca in front of his own fans.

He was booked in the first half and then promptly missed a penalty before being substituted as he eyed a glorious goalscoring return. Oh dear.

4) VILLAS-BOAS GETS REVENGE ON PREM CHIEFS - Former Chelsea, Spurs boss does the ice bucket challenge, nominates...

Yes, the ice bucket challenge is now incredibly tiresome, but when Andre Villas-Boas got involved he used the opportunity to get back at his former bosses.

He clearly has not forgotten about the way he was treated when sacked from Chelsea and Tottenham as a Premier League boss by his nominations after taking the plunge.

He nominated both Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy after getting drenched himself, no doubt waiting to see his revenge mission unfold.

Swedish second-tier sellout tops Premier League crowds

A sold-out game in the Swedish capital will be played in front of more spectators than four of Saturday's English Premier League matches - not bad for a second-tier clash.

Sunday's sellout between Stockholm club Hammarby, currently third in the Superettan league, and leaders Ljungskile will be attended by 31,500 fans at the Tele2 Arena as the home side seek to make it back to the top flight for the first time since 2009.

Of the six games played in England's Premier League on Saturday, only the Everton v Arsenal and Chelsea v Leicester ties were watched by more spectators.
