  • 91-year-old woman sets remarkable new marathon record

    Most people have their own marathon stories of friends or family members who have surpassed all expectations and achieved something really special.

    But for 91-year-old Harriette Thompson, more than her 90-year-old husband Sydnor got excited about what she managed to do over 26.2 miles.

    She set a new US record for her age group (90-94) with her time of 7:07.42 at the San Diego Marathon.

    A quite remarkable achievement, particularly given that Thompson only took up the sport at the age of 76.
