David Beckham was only too happy to skip an MLS match for the
LA Galaxy in order to play in best friend Gary Neville's testimonial at
Old Trafford.

But Becks could never have dreamt that he would end up
becoming an impromptu steward during the game, which saw United take on Italian
giants Juventus.

The former England captain was preparing to take a corner
kick late in the match when play was interrupted by an impish pitch invader,
who was clearly enjoying every second of his moment in the limelight as he ran
circles round stewards on the hallowed turf.

But the teenage invader hadn't bargained on the world's most
famous athlete giving the security men a hand: Beckham spread his arms wide and
grabbed the invader, but then almost appeared to think twice about what he'd
done as he appeared to beg stewards not to throw the young scamp out.

No doubt it was more than their jobs were worth to have
agreed to that, though, and the teen was booted out into the cold Manchester night, where he ended up missing the end of United's 2-1 defeat.
