The son of Argentine star Diego Simeone has been subjected to an embarrassing initiation by his club River Plate.
Highly-rated Argentina youth striker Giovanni, 18, signed his first senior contract with River this week and was made to shave his head into a bizarre shape.
Even worse though is the tuft at the crown, resembling a mini-ponytail that should only be sported by a sumo wrestler.
It remains to be seen how his dad reacts – no-nonsense Atletico Madrid boss Diego was described as having played the game "with a knife between his teeth", and his management style is similarly abrasive. Just look at him!
His son’s shocking barnet was not of Gio’s own volition though, as River’s senior players are known to subject youth-team graduates to American-style 'hazing' rituals when they sign pro terms.
So while not the best way to turn up for your first day of work, it could be worse – he could have actually asked for the haircut. Like these chaps below…
