A Sunday league footballer has scored the fastest hat-trick ever - in just 70 seconds.

Alex Torr got Rawson Springs of the Meadowhall Sunday League off to a great start when he put them ahead on 11 minutes.

Thirty second later he smashed in a second as Winn Gardens' defence and goalkeeper looked on helplessly.

And they must have been shell-shocked - as they immediately lost possession from kick-off to allow the 20-year-old to run through and slot a third with the clock (or ref Matt Tyers's stopwatch!) stating 12 minutes 10 seconds.

The Sheffield Hallam University sports science student even bagged a fourth as his side won 7-1 - and this only three days after he also scored a hat-trick against Penistone Church.

They must be confident of the timings, as they are to try and get the feat into the Guinness Book of Records.

Hat-trick records

Fastest - 90 seconds - 1964, Tommy Ross (Ross County v Nairn)

Fastest in Football League - 2:20 - 2004, James Hayter (Bournemouth v Wrexham)

Fastest in Premier League -  4:33 - 1994, Robbie Fowler (Liverpool v Arsenal)
