A little bit of Tinsel Town could come to Carlisle this Saturday with Hollywood star Kelsey Grammer a potential attendee at Carlisle United's FA Cup first-round tie against Ebbsfleet United at Brunton Park.
The former Cheers and Frasier star is the brother-in-law of Ebbsfleet striker Phil Walsh, and Walsh hopes he can persuade 'Dr Crane' to come and watch the match.
Grammer will be nearby as he is flying into England with his wife, Phil's sister Kayte, for a funeral in Hartlepool.
Grammer, 57, got married to Kayte — a former flight attendant who is 25 years his junior — last year and the pair had their first child together last July. Kayte is Grammer's fourth wife.
Now Phil says he will try and talk Kelsey into making the 90-mile trip to Carlisle to watch the game as Blue Square Premier Side Ebbsfleet look to cause an upset against their League One opponents.
"Kelsey and my sister will be at the funeral for my grandma Margaret and I'll join them there before catching up with the rest of the team at our Penrith hotel," he told the Sun.
"My grandma was a big influence on our lives and Kayte and Kelsey are coming over from Los Angeles. I'm hoping Kelsey will then be able to come up to Carlisle and watch me play. I shall leave some tickets out for them and it'll be nice to have some family support.
"I've spoken to Kelsey about football and know he enjoys the game. As a boy he played.
"His game is baseball now but if he knows I'm playing he might be able to make the journey.
"Carlisle are strong at home but it is a huge game for us.
"We shall be staying in a good hotel and have a nice meal and a bit of a swim. Games like this are what you play football for."
