Irish boxer Michael Conlan returned home a hero after winning bronze at the London Olympics but has been targeted by thieves and con artists since the Games.

The Belfast boxer first saw his iPhone stolen outside a Dublin nightclub on his first night back from the Olympics.

The Irish Sun reported that the incident was particularly upsetting for the flyweight fighter because he had taken photographs of himself with Olympic superstars such as Venus Williams, Novak Djokovic, Usain Bolt and Lennox Lewis on the phone.

Now he has just returned from a holiday in Ibiza with fellow Belfast bronze medallist Paddy Barnes to find his bank account hacked.

The 20-year-old wrote on his facebook page: "Ok so just found out that someone's buying things and using my bank details online! Seems I have been frauded! Some scumbags out there!"

It is believed that the incidents could be linked as Conlan had his bank details on the phone that was stolen.

Dublin police have appointed an officer to look at CCTV footage outside of the club from the time when his phone was stolen and are also keeping a close eye on any phones handed in.
