A League Two reject who was released by Macclesfield Town last season amazingly bagged himself a trial with Manchester United after a giving Sir Alex Ferguson a DVD of him in action.

18-year-old Max Lonsdale knocked on the door of the United boss and gave him the 15 minute scouting video hoping to spark the legendary manager's interest according to the Bleacher Report website.

Ferguson told Lonsdale that a reserve team coach would look at the video and get back to him.

The cultured left-football midfielder was then given a one week trial which was extended by a further week, with Lonsdale even playing twice for the United reserves.

Lonsdale played alongside Ireland international Darron Gibson last Sunday in a 7-1 win over Spartans and it is yet to be seen whether United will offer him a deal.

You can watch the 15 minute video that earned him his United trial below. Would you sign him up?
