When Doncaster Rovers announced the signing of One Direction star Louis Tomlinson last summer it seemed a nice little publicity stunt and everybody got on with their lives thinking we would never actually see him wearing the club's red and white shirt in an official match.
However, it would seem that the 22-year-old is serious about getting on the pitch for Donny and his debut has even been pencilled in for next month.
Okay so it is only a reserve match, but we suspect Doncaster's management will be taking a key look at their local hero – knowing that if he impresses and they can get him in the first team – a whole new fanbase will open up to the club.
Louis is already registered as an official member of the Doncaster squad and has the squad number 28.
"Louis has an incredibly busy schedule and we have been working hard with him to ensure we can get a date in his diary for the game," said chief executive Gavin Baldwin.
"Louis is lifelong Rovers supporter and he comes to watch the team whenever he can, so it will be great for him to put on his Rovers shirt and make his debut for us.
"I am sure that the Louis’ appearance for Doncaster Rovers will attract lots of attention from One Direction fans and I hope that we will generate lots of new Rovers supporters."
Louis has played a charity match at the club's Keepmont Stadium in the past, but this will be his first official fixture at the club.
For those of you who have been living on planet Mars these last few years, Louis is a member the band One Direction who have become global sensations with No. 1 hits across the world following their creating during the 2010 edition of X-Factor - melted the hearts of young girls across the world in the process.
