He might be
an unknown defender playing for a mid-table side in the Northern Ireland Premiership, but Johnny Black has suddenly found himself one of the most famous footballers
in the world.

The Coleraine
left-back's new-found fame is due to an incredible goal he scored at the
weekend during his side's 4-3 victory Portadown at Ballycastle Road.

With his
side trailing 1-0 in the 18th minute, Black stepped up to take a free kick from
inside his own half.

But rather
than try to find one of his team-mates, the 23-year-old spotted the opposition keeper
slightly off his line - and he decided to have a crack at goal from 60 yards.

The astonishing
strike flew perfectly in under the crossbar, leaving Portadown goalkeeper David
Miskelly crumpled in a heap on the ground with the ball in the net.

That wasn't
the end of a superb afternoon's entertainment for the crowd: four more goals
went in before Stephen Lowry's winner for Coleraine three minutes from time.

delighted the cameras were here today to see Johnny's goal," said
Coleraine boss Oran Kearney.

one of the best goals I've saw in my time in football as he was well inside his
own half. But we know what Johnny's left foot is all about."

It's not
the first time that a player in Northern Ireland's top flight has scored a
wondergoal. Last season Glentoran's Matty Burrows scored a gravity-defying mid-air
backheel strike
that made FIFA's list of the top 10 goals of the year.
