Veteran Colombian midfielder Hernando Patino scored an incredible goal for his club Deportes Quindio on Sunday night.
The 39-year-old found himself unmarked almost 30 yards out when a team-mate’s corner was cleared from the penalty area.
Undeterred, he jumped into a brilliant first-time volley that flew past Alianza Petrolera goalkeeper Ricardo Jerez into the top left corner.
What made the strike all the more remarkable is that Patino is not renowned for his goals – he is a combative defensive midfielder.
This though was the type of goal every player dreams of scoring.
It wasn’t all good news for Patino though – hosts Quindio lost 3-2 in the end, replacing Alianza as the bottom club in Colombia’s Primera Division.
