Wakefield Trinity Wildcats rugby league club have been forced to call in the police after the club's scoreboard was stolen.

Staff at the Super League club were shocked when they arrived at work to discover that the scoreboard on the western terrace at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium (previously known as Belle Vue) was gone.

"It was a bit of a shock," said the club's general manager Davide Longo.

"We don't know what's happened but we've informed the police and they are coming to investigate.

"Fortunately, our next home game is on Sky so we'll be able to use their screen for the scores, although we could still use the old manual scoreboard."

Wakefield have won one of their three Super League matches so far this season but are on minus two points as they were deducted four points for entering administration.

The club was recently brought out of administration by new owner Andrew Glover.
