New ‘Robot Caddy’ hits market for £1,000

World of Sport

The Americans often unfairly get labelled lazy but it is hard to defend them when you see inventions such as the 'Caddytrek' hit the market.

The new 'Robot Caddy' will carry your golf clubs around for you and follow you around the course using "advanced sensing and motion control technology."

Those with a phobia of pulling their own golf cart can purchase the device for the princely sum of $1,595 which works out at just under £1,000 on the current exchange rate.

The company that makes the Caddytrek is selling the device online and at 10 retailers in the US but you'll have to hold on to your cash for now as it is not yet available in the UK.

The device weighs about 33 lbs without the battery and 39 lbs with the battery and the designers - FTR Systems - promise that there is no danger of it falling into a water or bunker hazard.

"It follows you faithfully everywhere directly behind you," explains the company's website.

"It turns when you turn, it follows around the corner when you walk around the corner. It follows the best when you keep it closely and directly behind you with 2-3 yards."

Have a look at the video above and let us know your thoughts. Is it a nifty device that makes life easier? Or a colossal waste money? Leave your thoughts below.
