Team GB played their first match together in a low-key and little-publicised match, losing 1-0 against Mexico behind closed doors in Marbella on Sunday.
Stuart Pearce's side have been training in Spain ahead of the tournament.
Before they returned to the UK, however, they took on a Mexico-under-23 side in a match which was curiously broken down into three thirty-minute thirds.
The Olympic host nation began with all three of their over-age players - captain Ryan Giggs, Craig Bellamy and Micah Richards - on the field, but could not prevent Mexico from having numerous shots on goal.
Marco Fabian of Chivas scored the only goal of the game to settle the contest, and though Team GB might have preferred people didn't see it, footage of the match has been found its way on to Mexican television.
It won't get any easier for Team GB - the side are scheduled to play Brazil in a full friendly against Brazil at the Riverside Stadium on Friday night.
