Tottenham Hostpur goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini said he was left "perplexed" after the driver who knocked him off his motorbike six months ago escaped prosecution.

The 36-year-old has not played since sustaining a broken pelvis and wrist when his bike collided with a car that was allegedly doing a U-turn.

Crown Proscecution Service lawyers said that they had decided not to prosecute Jennifer Bernard of Enfield, North London, due to a lack of evidence.

Cudicini joined Spurs in January 2009 on a free transfer after nearly 10 years at Chelsea, making his debut that same month against Stoke.

The Italian made limited appearances for Spurs at the end of the 2008-09 season and beginning of 2009-10 but returned to the starting line-up after injury kept Heurelho Gomes out of action.

The return to full fitness of Gomes saw Cudicini dropped to the bench once again, with his last game being a 2-2 draw with Bolton at the Reebok Stadium on October 3.

The Italian returned to ball work in early February, Tottenham reported on their official website.
