Tim Merlier won the third stage of the Giro d'Italia on Monday, pipping Jonathan Milan to the line in a bunch sprint after race leader Tadej Pogacar made a bold attempt to steal victory."I saw Milan was starting his sprint on the left side and I knew I was going to be first or second and I'm happy I won this one."
Dutch cycling star Demi Vollering won La Vuelta Femenina on Sunday as she soloed to victory in the eighth and final stage."I'm really happy to win this stage because it's really nice to finish it off like this, we did a really good Vuelta, some podiums and two stage wins, so I think we can be very proud of ourselves," said Vollering.
Ecuadorian Ineos rider Jhonatan Narvaez won a ferocious struggle on the opening stage of the Giro d'Italia  on Saturday to deny pre-race favourite Tadej Pogacar in the final sprint and snatch the overall leader's pink jersey."You don't get many chances like that," he said of taking the pink jersey.
