    • BATE Borisov
    • Valencia CF
    • 90+2 Gago and Jonas working hard right up until the end refusing to allow BATE to get hold of the ball, before referee Thomson blows the final whistle. An excellent performance from Valencia.
    • 90+1 The referee's assistant signals that here are two minutes to play, though everyone is ready to go home now!
    • 89' BATE boss Goncharenko looks ready for bed on the touchline as Cissokho gets to the byline on the right and misdirects his cross.
    • 88' Pereira and Barragan are loving this space down the right and they combine nicely to play Jonas in, though he is not as alert as Soldado was earlier and Simic clears the danger.
    • 86' The playing surface has cut up a little in these late stages. Nonetheless Valencia are still playing the ball around on the ground, Pereira and Barragan looking comfortable on the right.
    • 85' It's 'Olé' stuff from Valencia now as they string together 30 plus passes in the typical Spanish style, before BATE eventually rob them.
    • 84' Alves will be disappointed not to keep a clean sheet tonight if BATE can score as he's played well and made some good saves.
    • 83' The ball drops to Sivakov who skies a half chance over Alves' goal.
    • 82' Antonio Barragán replaces Feghouli who goes off with a knock. He looks ok though.
    • 81' Mozolevski can't take advantage of a half chance in the Valencia box, then Bordachev is penalised for a foul on Feghouli who stays down and goes off for treatment
    • 80' Pellegrino is wrapped up warm on the sidelines with a broad smile on his face as his team see this tie out.
    • 79' The resulting corner is cleared easily and Valencia break rapidly, though Guardado ends up stranded in the BATE box and loses the ball.
    • 78' To be fair to BATE they are still looking for a goal and Mozolevski wins a corner down the right.
    • 77' That was the last kick of the night for Soldado who departs for Jonas having settled this tie with a great performance.
    • 76' Soldado has a chance to make it four but the ball bobbles just as he tries a cheeky lob over Gorbunov.
    • 74' Final substitution for BATE as Renan Bressan comes on for Volodko.
    • 73' With Pavlov and Rodionov unable to repeat their Bayern heroics tonight it has all been down to Hleb to lift the home side and he is still playing well, probing the Valencia defence but the former Arsenal and Barcelona man can't overcome this determined Valencia side on his own.
    • 72' Albelda makes his way off, his night's work is done and Ever Banega comes on to replace him.
    • 70' Some of the BATE fans are already leaving the stadium in Minsk to make their way back to Borisov, they know the game is up.
    • 68' GOAL!!! Soldado gets his deserved hat-trick finally with a great one-two move with Costa and a cool finish into the bottom left hand corner of the goal.
    • 67' Pavlov departs and Dmitri Mozolevski is given a chance in attack by Goncharenko.
    • 66' Soldado nets for a third time but it won't count as he's offside as he pounces on a lose rebound.
    • 65' BATE have to push forward but Valencia look so comfortable, overpowering their opponents in midfield.
    • 64' The pattern of the game is changing as Valencia have no need to attack.
    • 63' Scrappy play on the edge of the BATE box, with Albelda in an advanced position and Feghouli supporting his captain.
    • 61' Now Valencia captain Albelda gets yellow carded for a foul on Hleb as he tries to break forward.
    • 60' Now we're back to the familiar pattern of Gago playing it around casually as Valencia retain possession in midfield.
    • 59' Pavlov floors Gago and receives a yellow card for persistent fouling.
    • 58' Guardado has a great chance for a third goal for Valencia and blazes over in the box.
    • 57' Valencia probably can't believe how easy they are finding this. The second goal came on the break with Hleb and Rodionov almost creating an equaliser before Valencia clinically struck to take full control of this game.
    • 55' Soldado almost makes it a hat-trick as Valencia pick BATE apart again, with Gorbunov preventing the Spaniard from making it 3-0.
    • 54' GOAL!!! Another goal for the lively Soldado who volleys home from a great Guardado cross.
    • 53' Goncharenko will hope that change in midfield will shake things up in the centre of the park where his team have been outplayed up to now.
    • 52' Likhtarovich makes way for Sivakov in the BATE midfield.
    • 51' The second half has started like the first ended with Valencia enjoying most of the ball and looking stronger across the midfield.
    • 50' Pavlov sneaks into the box chasing a Hleb pass, Alves is alert to the danger though and gets there first.
    • 49' Cissokho makes a good run down the left and plays it around with Guardado and Costa but they can't get the ball into the box.
    • 48' Feghouli is under pressure in the right full back position with two men closing him down but he escapes danger and Valencia clear their lines.
    • 47' Feghouli goes down in the BATE box but it's not a second penalty for the visitors as the Algerian is adjudged to have fouled Volodko.
    • 46' No changes as we start the second half in Minsk.
    • 45+3' The end of the first half arrives and Valencia go off with a deserved one goal lead. The were far more attacking than their hosts in the opneing period.
    • 45+2' Simic was cautioned for that foul as he pulled Soldado's shirt as the Spaniard turned him in the box, although the Valencia man went down easily.
    • 45+1' GOAL!!! Soldado wins and converts a penalty kick on the stroke of half time as he is brought down by Simic.
    • 44' Valencia put together a nice passing move before Pereira gives the ball away on the right.
    • 43' Valencia have had the better of things in this half with BATE reduced to counter attacks and half chances.
    • 42' The ball bobbles around in the Valencia box and BATE's Volodko tries a snapshot which Alves is able to gather comfortably.
    • 41' Valencia are straight up the other end and Soldado gets through and should probably do better as he has a clear chance in the box with Gorbunov saving well.
    • 40' The resulting free kick sees Valencia pinned back and after three attempted crosses Simic heads over.
    • 39' Soldado then immediately commits another foul on Likhtarovich.
    • 38' Simic gets an arm in the face from Soldado and the Spaniard goes into the book.
    • 36' Cissokho's long cross is chested behind by Simic and Valencia have a corner, but can't take advantage.
    • 34' Some good play through midfield sees BATE finally push forward en masse, Alves called into action as Olekhnovich head towards goal.
    • 33' BATE are still camped in their own half playing like the away team, with Pereira, Rami, Gago and Guardado playing the ball around looking for gaps in the home defence.
    • 32' BATE had won none of their six previous home games in the Champions League (D2 L4), before beating Bayern in their last outing.
    • 30' A dangerous counter attack from BATE sees Pavlov sprint forward and cross from the left with Alves diverting the ball out of immediate danger and Valencia survive for the moment.
    • 29' Feghouli and João Pereira are playing it around nicely on the right before Valencia switch the ball to the left and BATE break forward.
    • 28' Valencia have had 55% of the possession so far. Costa takes a corner on the right and BATE head it clear, with the Spaniards keeping the ball again in midfield.
    • 27' Gago, who is seeing plenty of the ball, is combining well with Cissokho as they mount another attack.
    • 26' Valencia have won just one of their last 10 matches in European competition away from the Mestalla.
    • 25' Hleb masterminds another swift counter attack and the home fans raise their voices before the move breaks down on the edge of the Valencia box.
    • 23' Costa takes a free kick on the right, his long looping left footed in swinger dropping into Gorbunov's hands.
    • 22' Valencia are working so hard to win the ball back whenever BATE have the ball, Aly Cissokho and Sofiane Feghouli running their socks off at present.
    • 21' Now BATE Borisov are failing to retain possession, Denis Polyakov giving the ball away cheaply 40 yards from his own goal and keeping the pressure on his team.
    • 20' BATE are playing too deep at the moment, their midfield is close to the back four, trying to protect the defence but not supporting their attackers. Valencia are therefore enjoying the space in the middle third.
    • 19' BATE won a sixth straight Belarusian title in 2011 to earn a chance of claiming their third appearance in the UEFA Champions League group stage.
    • 18' Hleb is starting to pull some strings through the midfield, leading the BATE counter attacks as the home try to forge their way into this game.
    • 16' Pavlov tries to find Rodionov with a through ball but it's too long and runs through to Alves to collect.
    • 15' Rodionov is the main protagonist for the hosts at the moment but he keeps committing silly fouls, this time on Gago.
    • 14' In last season's group stage BATE were beaten 5-0 at home by FC Barcelona, losing 4-0 at the Camp Nou on matchday six.
    • 13' Other than Soldado's early effort and Rodionov's chance have been the best opportunities thus far. Soldado makes another good run down the left and Andrés Guardado gets a half chance but the shot on goal is not powerful enough to trouble Gorbunov.
    • 12' Former Arsenal man Hleb has made 84 appearances in UEFA club competitions, a Belarusian record.
    • 11' BATE’s Aleksandr Hleb will be his side’s best known player for Valencia fans as was of course an FC Barcelona player between 2008 and 2012. Having made 36 appearances in his first season, he spent the remaining three years out on loan.
    • 10' Rodionov breaks clear and is just let down by his first touch as he gets between the centre half. His heavy touch sees him run on and foul Ricardo Costa in the Valencia box, exacting some revenge for their earlier exchange. No card though.
    • 8' Valencia are still having the best of it so far, but Ricardo Costa concedes a simple a free-kick for a foul on Rodionov and there is a short break in play.
    • 7' BATE's 18-game unbeaten run in all competitions, since their 3-1 defeat by FC Dinamo Minsk on 1 July, ended on 13 October when they lost 1-0 at home to FC Torpedo Zhodino in the third round of the Belarusian Cup.
    • 6' BATE mount their first attack with Pavlov and Rodionov combining but the ball runs out for a Valencia goal kick. Brazilian goalkeeper Diego Alves pumps the ball long and the teams battle for possession in midfield.
    • 5' The first clear chance of the game drops to Roberto Soldado who is supplied by David Albelda and hammers the ball at Gorbunov who palms the shot away.
    • 3' Valencia are having the best of the early running and the home side can't get out of their own half despite the home fans making plenty of noise to spur them on.
    • 2' Despite Saturday's last-gasp comeback win over Athletic Bilbao, Valencia are enduring their worst start to a Liga campaign since 1999/2000 – when they reached the UEFA Champions League final before losing to Real Madrid CF. They are ninth in La Liga after eight games.
    • 1' BATE goalkeeper Andrei Gorbunov gets his first touch and it's a shakey right foot clearance as both teams look to find their touch and settle any nerves.
    • 0' Referee Thomson blows the whistle and Valencia kick-off, retaining possession in the early moments.
    • 19.42 The captains Dmitri Likhtarovich and David Albelda have shaken hands and swapped pennants so we're ready to go...
    • 19.40 Of course this game is played in Minsk as BATE's home ground is not deemed to meet the requirements of a Champions League stadium.
    • 19.35 BATE have lost all six European encounters against Spanish opposition. At home they have conceded eight goals without scoring themselves; in fact, only a goal in their first fixture away to Villarreal CF prevents a total blank in those six games which have brought 18 goals against.
    • 19.32 BATE failed to win their first 12 group stage outings but broke that duck in style with a 3-1 triumph at LOSC Lille on matchday one and followed up with an even more impressive display to beat last season's runners-up Bayern in Minsk by the same score. Valencia lost 2-1 in Munich before seeing off Lille 2-0 at home.
    • 19.30 This is the first time Valencia have met a team from Belarus.
    • 19.25 Tonight's referee in Minsk, Craig Thomson, and his assistant referees, Derek Rose and Alasdair Ross, are all from Scotland.
    • 19.20 Mauricio Pellegrino (Valencia): "We are looking at a very important game. It will be very demanding for my players as BATE are a very balanced team with some interesting players. If we win, we will have another important game. If it is a draw the next game will be even more important, but if we lose we will have a crucial game next. We will try to have more of the ball, but it is more important to play effectively and I hope we will succeed in doing that."
    • 19.12 Goncharenko also commented in the build-up to this game: "We are not short of any information about them because our physio, Daniel Saez Irrure, comes from Valencia, while [fitness coach] José Pastor Verchili was born nearby. They have told us everything that we need to know, giving us detailed information about their strengths and weaknesses."
    • 19.10 Viktor Goncharenko (BATE Borisov manager): "We should not be tired because we used an experimental squad in Mozyr [on Thursday] comprising those who did not play for the national side and some fringe players, too. We approach the game in bullish mood. Valencia's approach may differ from last year, but they are a club who do not need further introduction. They have a quality squad and regularly finish third behind Real Madrid and Barcelona."
    • 19.05 Valencia goalkeeper Vicente Guaita felt sick on the flight to Belarus, and was assessed in the hours ahead of the game, with medical staff eventually advising that he should not start. Striker Nelson Valdez is not named, despite Valencia insisting he was not carrying an injury ahead of the game, but recovering from international exertions with Paraguay...
    • 19.01 Indeed, BATE coach Victor Goncharenko confirmed in his UEFA Champions League press conference that all his players are fit for the game, so he selects a first choice starting eleven.
    • 18.59 BATE retain the same starting line-up from the victory over Bayern München in their last fixture in the competition. Vitali Rodionov is supported by Aleksandr Pavlov and Aleksandr Hleb, the pair playing behind the lone striker. Rodionov and Pavlov were on the scoresheet last time out against Bayern.
    • 18.55 Teams: BATE BORISOV: Gorbunov, Bordachev, Filipenko, Simic, Polyakov, Likhtarovich, Volodko, Hleb, Pavlov, Olekhnovich, Rodionov… subs: Gutor, Yurevich, Radkov, Renan Bressan, Sivakov, Rudik, Mozolevski. /// VALENCIA: Diego Alves, Cissokho, Rami, João Pereira, Ricardo Costa, Gago, Albelda, Feghouli, Guardado, Costa, Soldado… subs: Guaita, Barragán, Víctor Ruiz, Éver Banega, Viera, Bernat, Jonas.
    • 18.50 The other game in this group tonight is Lille vs Bayern Munich at the Grand Stade Lille Métropole, which we are also covering live. Follow our matchcast of Lille vs Bayern Munich.
    • 18.45 Good evening and welcome to LIVE coverage of this Group F, Matchday 3, Champions League tie between BATE Borisov and Valencia at the Dinamo Stadion in Minsk.
