    Derby delay QPR promotion party

QPR and Derby County are within one result of promotion and survival respectively after battling to a 0-0 stalemate at Loftus Road. More

  • Live Commentary

    Time:90'
    • Queens Park Rangers
    • Derby County
    • 90+5' Darren Deadman brings an end to proceedings at Loftus Road. 0-0 will disappoint the viewer but neither manager will complain. The wait to seal promotion/survival continues but will surely be settled in the next two games for both QPR and Derby.
    • 90+4' 60 seconds left. Both sides really wanted three points, but the smart money is on both to accomplish their respective targets regardless and a point each won't do any harm.
    • 90+3' Another late Derby sub, Dean Leacock coming on for the bandaged-up Steve Davies in a very defensive switch to see out the last few moments.
    • 90+2' Agyemang goes down inside the box but it's his own doing, stretching to reach a headed Hulse flick-on.
    • 90+1' Five minutes added time. Will we have a late twist?
    • 90' Good hustle from Hulse to nip in for possession as Derby hesitate to clear their lines and wins a free-kick in the process. It's chipped into the box by Smith but cleared.
    • 89' Finally, Derby make a change. Pearson is replaced by fellow Scot Russell Anderson.
    • 88' Savage does well to thwart Derry, who was ready to collect the ball around the 'D'.
    • 86' Miller tries to connect with a deep cross into the box, but his header goes up into the air and Jones catches.
    • 85' Helguson off, Hulse on. Former player alert #2 in effect. 3 switches for QPR, 0 for Derby.
    • 84' Very attacking outlook for Neil Warnock now as he seeks the two extra points at the death. Derby have yet to use a sub.
    • 83' It takes three Derby players to dispossess Agyemang, but they do. Sub for QPR sees Miller replace Routledge.
    • 82' Brayford's low cross attempt is easily dealt with. QPR win a free-kick to halt the pressure against them and get attacking once more themselves.
    • 80' The QPR centre-backs are slow to communicate with Kenny dealing with a long ball back to the box, which the returning Davies almost latches onto. Kenny beats him to it, though, and Davies comes in late. Free-kick.
    • 79' Both men require treatment for cuts. Gorkss and Davies both channeling the spirit of Terry Butcher with forehead bandages as play continues, 10 v 10 for now.
    • 78' Davies is down now. Clash of heads with Gorkss, who has been through the wars in recent minutes.
    • 77' The Latvian is ok, and rejoins play shortly after the free-kick restarts procedings.
    • 76' Gorkss shepherds the ball out for a goal kick but the chasing Brayford petulantly sends the centre-back flying into a nearby camera. Yellow card is dished out, and rightfully so.
    • 75' Clint Hill clips at Savage's heels. Free-kick Derby just outside their own box, but how that didn't get a yellow while Bailey's did I can't figure out.
    • 74' Smith punts forward towards Agyemang, who crosses for Helguson but the header is wide.
    • 72' Bailey is booked for a foul which didn't look deliberate or spiteful. Faurlin sends the free-kick sailing over.
    • 71' Taarabt's game is over. Agyemang is on in his place and the midfielder exchanges a handshake with Savage before departing the pitch. The two have become well acquainted in the last 70 minutes.
    • 70' Connolly takes a free-kick from his own half and whips it into the County box... Jones collects comfortably once again.
    • 68' Routledge collects a loft pass and turns for the cross out on the right... SMITH! Great defending from Brayford to prevent a decent chance on goal. Goal kick Derby.
    • 67' One or two moments of magic aside, Savage will be pleased with the job he's done to keep Taarabt's influence stifled in this game.
    • 66' Kenny has to rush out to the right-hand corner to clear a ball intended for Robinson.
    • 65' QPR win a corner at the other end, but Taarabt's delivery is headed clear.
    • 64' Top save from the keeper who made the Championship team of the year from great County play. That move was the spark this game needed.
    • 63' Great play from Ward to skin Orr, space on the left., pulls back to Pearson! What a save by Kenny! Brilliant stuff!
    • 62' QPR want a free-kick against a climbing Barker, but no dice from Mr. Deadman.
    • 60' ...but the Morroccan tries an overly clever short set play and Derby are able to win a free-kick while clearing the danger.
    • 59' Deadman has to deal with tussles in the box before Taarabt can take the free-kick...
    • 58' Helguson's volley is blocked by his own man Smith, who is then fouled by Ayala as the hosts attempt to keep the attack cooking. Deadman produces the third yellow of the match for the defender.
    • 57' At the other end, Savage and Kenny produce almost an exact replica of the previous cross-catch exchange.
    • 56' QPR work an attacking throw on the right-hand side and Orr's eventual cross doesn't trouble Jones.
    • 55' A County delivery into the danger zone is marshalled by Orr and collected by Kenny.
    • 54' Barker fluffs a clearance, and Faurlin's strike of the second ball reaches Row Z.
    • 53' Ward launches another run but Orr cuts across to put a stop to it. Bailey thwarts the ensuing Rs breakaway.
    • 52' Routledge is offside as QPR attack. Free-kick Derby.
    • 51' The exchanges - technical and verbal - between Savage and Taarabt have been the highlight thus far. That and Adel's 17th minute wonder strike.
    • 50' Some slick Derby passing ends when a ball to Robinson is too heavy and goes off for a defensive throw.
    • 49' Deep early cross from Orr is no danger for the hands of Jones.
    • 47' Davies spots Kenny off his line but his cheeky attempt only results in a goal kick. Which Kenny actually takes this time.
    • 46' Queens Park Rangers get the second half underway. Still 0-0 at Loftus Road, but the likes of Taarabt and Robinson will have something to say about that...
    • 45+2' QPR have been the better side but Derby have had their own chances. It's safe to say Nigel Clough will be the happier of the two managers at the break. Darren Deadman blows his whistle and it's goalless at half-time.
    • 45' 2 minutes added time to be played.
    • 44' Derry launches a rare run forward but Shaun Barker dispossesses him with a superb sliding challenge. Derby break and Robinson's first touch takes him wide when he should have been through, his resulting shot is nowhere near Kenny's goal.
    • 43' For the third time, Taarabt goes down easily but Ward's challenge is deemed fair... Derby break and Robinson has it in the 6 yard box but can't turn to goal thanks to good defending and it's cleared.
    • 42' Great run by Routledge to squeeze into the penalty area but Brayford and Ayala eventually deal with the danger.
    • 41' Derby play it dangerously in their own defensive third and give away possession again.
    • 40' You can see why Taarabt won POTY - he dances around several Derby players once more, though once again he goes down easily. Deadman isn't interested and merely gives the corner he won, anyway. Derby deal with it again.
    • 38' Out in the right-hand corner now, the busy Taarabt wins a corner for his side. Helguson improves from the set piece but Jones catches his cheeky attempt.
    • 37' Bailey brings the ball forward, but ignores a couple of options and fires well wide.
    • 36' Some quality 'tekkers' from Taarabt in the left-hand corner are eventually foiled by Savage. The home captain goes down in a heap. The away skipper, having won the exchange fairly, yells 'Get up!'
    • 35' QPR win a free-kick 30 yards out. Taarabt whips it towards goal hoping to pick a team-mate's run out, but nobody is fast enough and Jones catches.
    • 33' Davies does well to pick out Robinson on the right-hand side of the hosts' box but his shot is blocked and eventually cleared.
    • 32' Jamie Ward embarks on a good run towards the penalty area, but he's closed down courageously by Connolly.
    • 31' Pearson stays strong as the Rs' back line struggle to cope with a long delivery into the box, but his shot is off-target.
    • 30' Taarabt rescues Routledge after good play between the winger and Bradley Orr, but his speculative attempt on this occasion comes nowhere near to threatening the County goal.
    • 29' Routledge's deep cross takes a flick off the sliding challenge of his nearest defender which takes it safely into Jones' awaiting grasp.
    • 28' The game has slowed down considerably since Taarabt's belting curler, but Neil Warnock knows time is on QPR's side.
    • 27' Robinson attempts to beat Connolly to a clearance upfield but the defender sees it out for a throw.
    • 25' Liverpool loan defender Ayala has his hands full with a long ball into the Derby box and concedes a corner, but nothing comes of it.
    • 24' Connolly and Derry combine to flatten Davies, free-kick County.
    • 23' Connolly whips another long free-kick into the Derby box but it's headed clear and Derby win a defensive throw-in.
    • 22' Speaking of the possibility of a ghost of Derby's past in Tommy Smith earlier, QPR also have Rob Hulse on the bench who has four goals in his last four games against former club County.
    • 21' Pearson tries to enter the R's box to meet the ball but loses his footing, it falls to Bailey! Well over the bar on the half-volley.
    • 20' Referee Deadman has to chastise Bailey for argy bargy ahead of a QPR throw-in. Just a talk, though.
    • 19' Derby appeared to begin the game confidently, but this is becoming all QPR at the moment.
    • 18' Taarabt takes the corner himself, Derby need several attempts to get it clear but the hosts continue to press.
    • 17' TAARABT! Wonderful curling chip from 25 yards, tipped over by Jones! Amazing play.
    • 16' Smith heads over from a free-kick just inside the Derby half, good chance that.
    • 15' And there's a yellow for Routledge, too, for getting a dig in on a grounded Savage after the Welshman had fouled his skipper counterpart. Silly.
    • 13' Savage slides in on Taarabt and official Deadman has to prevent things escalating. Savage is booked for what was definitely a cynical challenge.
    • 12' Routledge wants a foul out on the right but he was muscled off possession by a pair of Rams as the ball is seen out for a Derby goal kick.
    • 11' ROUTLEDGE! Great counter from the hosts as Faurlin dinks a ball into the box for the winger to latch onto, it flashes wide but Helguson just missed out on heading it in, too!
    • 10' Pearson and Ward link up well but Rangers clear.
    • 9' Hill intercepts Robinson's attempt to latch onto a cheeky overhead centre from Jamie Ward.
    • 8' Derby are beginning to string some passes together, but QPR are able to dispossess them twice before they can find the final third. The game is slowly building in tempo.
    • 7' Interesting to note that the hosts' two goal kicks thus far have both been taken by Bradley Orr, not goalkeeper Paddy Kenny.
    • 6' Savage whips a deep free-kick into the QPR box, but Barker can't head it across goal as he'd like and it's a goal kick.
    • 5' The second delivery finds Helguson, but Ayala does well to ensure the Icelander can only head well over the bar.
    • 4' Smith bursts into the box from the left and tries to pick out Routeldge who is heavily marked. Corner QPR is sent in by Hill and cleared for another corner.
    • 3' It was in 1982 on an artificial pitch that Rangers, under the management of Terry Venables, last vanquished County at this stadium.
    • 2' Millwall loanee Robinson, peculiar mohawk and all, chases down a QPR back pass and despite doing no more than causing a goal kick, shows an early sign of intent from the underdogs.
    • 1' Tonight's official Darren Deadman's whistle signals the start of the first half and the visitors kick off our Monday night game!
    • 19:45 Robbie Savage and Championship Player Of The Year 2010/11 Adel Taarabt lead the teams out at Loftus Road, and we're almost about ready to get underway!
    • 19:40 R's ex-County striker Tommy Smith could bag his 100th career goal tonight if he finds the back of the net against his old club. And speaking of Derby's undefeated streak of 9 at Loftus Road earlier, the hosts have gone just as long without defeat at home. A draw would see both records reach ten... or will one be breached come 9:45pm tonight?
    • 19:35 "From a cardiff city fan.....come on derby!! its not over till the fat lady sings!!" - Cath, on Mon 18 Apr 3:15PM
    • 19:30 Ever wanted to ask QPR boss Neil Warnock a question? Tactics, career highlights, favourite crisp flavour? Now you can as one of the game's most colourful men is next in line in Eurosport's Dugout! More
    • 19:25 That's an unchanged home side and just the one tweak for County, with Ben Davies benched to make way for Theo Robinson in what looks like a 4-3-3 for Nigel Clough's team.
    • 19:20 TEAMS: QPR: Kenny, Orr, Gorkss, Connolly, Hill, Derry, Faurlin, Routledge, Taarabt, Smith, Helguson. Subs: Cerny, Buzsaky, Agyemang, Hulse, Ephraim, Miller, Shittu. /// DERBY: Jones, Brayford, Barker, Ayala, Roberts, Savage, Bailey, Pearson, Robinson, Ward, S.Davies. Subs: Atkins, Leacock, Porter, Anderson, Doyle, Bueno, Ben Davies.
    • 19:15 While Neil Warnock's men will be the heavy favourites, it should be noted that Derby are undefeated in their last nine trips to Loftus Road. Can the R's break that duck before it hits double figures and put one foot in the top flight in the process?
    • 19:10 A win tonight for Queens Park Rangers will put them on the verge of sealing promotion to the Premier League. Meanwhile, three points for the Rams would all but guarantee their Championship status for another year.
    • 19:05 Good evening and welcome to our LIVE coverage of QPR's Championship fixture at home to Derby County!
