    Brown gives Levein win

Scott Brown was the unlikely goal hero as Craig Levein claimed a 1-0 win from his first game as Scotland manager against Czech Republic. More

    • 93' And that's full time! A winning start for Craig Levein! He has also wiped out the horrible 14 year record in home friendlies. 1-0 to the Scots.
    • 93' TERRIFIC SAVE! Drobny manages to deflect the ball over the bar with his outstretched boot after a Steven Whittaker shot!
    • 92' Dorrans looks to see out time, dribbling slowly down the left and winning a throw.
    • 90' Berra just gets his body in the way of the ball and Moravek and gets fouled by the Czech. We're to have three added minutes.
    • 88' Boyd has the ball in the net, but the linesman has his flag up. He just went a fraction too early, but that was a great through ball from Charlie Adam.
    • 86' Kusnir, who did well, is replaced by Pudil for the Czech's.
    • 84' The captain, Fletcher, is off and Steven Whittaker comes on in his plce.
    • 81' Gordon again does really well, this time tipping a long range effort from Skacel round his right hand post. This ball really does have some movement in the air!
    • 79' Jan Moravek and Jan Rajnoch come on to replace Plasil and Hubschmann
    • 78' Lovely stuff from Scotland! Wallace crosses from deep and finds Boyd. Dorrans runs on to his cushioned header and Sivok does really well to cut out the cross with Boyd waiting to turn the ball into the net. That will have pleased Levein.
    • 77' They're using the official World Cup ball tonight and it really does move all over the place! Gordon does well to hold an effort from some 25-yards.
    • 75' A good ball finds Dorrans down the left, but he can't beat the right back, Kusnir.
    • 73' Caldwell does really well getting goalside of Papadopoulos and just preventing the forward from getting on the end of a through ball.
    • 71' Ole's from the Scotland fans as Dorrans and Hutton create space with a nutmeg and then a little flick. The cross just evades Kusnir at the back post but Boyd's header is nowhere near on target.
    • 70' The Czech's still have the majority of possession, but Scotland are doing well to break up play and to stay compact.
    • 69' That goal from Scotland was their first goal in 340 minutes of football! Can Scotland win their first friendly at Hampden Park since 1996? They're 20 minutes away here.
    • 68' Charlie Adam replaces Barry Robson.
    • 65' That goal was very much against the run of play, and the Czech's have made a number of changes: Rudi Skacel replaces Tomas Rosicky; Michal Papadopoulos replaces Vaclav Sverkos and Jan Blazek replaces Tomas Necid.
    • 62' Kris Boyd resumes his international career! He replaces Kenny Miller.
    • 61' GOAL!! Scotland break as the corner is cleared! The ball finds itself to Wallace who made a good run down the left and his cross finds Fletcher whose header back across the box finds Brown who lashes into the back of the net!! 1-0 Scotland!
    • 60' The Czech's have a corner but the Scottish fans are cheering as they spy Kris Boyd getting ready to come on.
    • 57' Sivok is booked for scything down Brown on the half way line. You can't get away with challenges like that, friendly or not.
    • 57' Hartley bundles Sverkos off the ball inside the area! The referee waves play on, but that looked a rash challenge!
    • 55' Brilliant move from the Czech's! Plasil and Kusnir combine well and Kusnir makes it to the byline and puts a ball across the six-yard box. It somehow eludes Necid and Sverkos and rolls wide! Scotland are living dangerously here!
    • 53' A Czech header loops up into Gordon's arms from the resulting corner. I've just been informed that both of these sides are now approaching six hours without scoring an international goal. Six hours!!
    • 52' Rosicky is found in loads of space out on the right, and his cut back finds Sverkos whose vicious shot is tipped over by Gordon! Again Gordon has saved Scotland.
    • 51' Plasil and Rosicky combine well on the right but Rosicky's cross is cut out and Scotland break in numbers! Fletcher receives the ball but it's caught under his feet and the Czech defence has time to regain their shape. The ball is eventually pumped long and out for a goal kick.
    • 50' Kusnir bombs down the right again, this is his first appearance for his national side and he's looked impressive. This time Dorrans does well to tackle him.
    • 48' Poor cross from Kusnir when he had time and space and the towering figure of Necid waiting at the far post. The ball was cleared behind, and the resulting corner comes to nothing.
    • 46' Paul Hartley's first action of the match is to bundle over Rosicky in the centre cirle. Is that what he's been brought on to do?
    • 45' And the second half is underway.
    • 45' Paul Hartley and Christope Berra are the first two substitutes. They will replace Kevin Thomson and Andy Webster. Looks like a similar shape to the side which struggled early in the first half though. The Czech's have made no changes.
    • - Craig Levein will be happy enough with the scoreline, as the Czech's are by far the better side, but he'll surely be unhappy with some of the defending at set plays and will have to find a way to link the midfield to Kenny Miller in attack.
    • - Well, Scotland nearly finished the half on a high and did start to play their way into the match, but they're really playing far too negative a formation for a home side who need to get the crowd behind them. There are just not enough midfielders willing to break foward and Kenny Miller is far too isolated.
    • 45' Robson with the free kick! He goes for the far post on his left foot and Drobny fists the ball away! That's a decent effort, and it's the last action of the half. 0-0.
    • 44' Brown spins Hubschmann then tries to ping a cross into the box, but Plasil blocks it, but is penalised for handball! That's right on the edge of the area!
    • 42' Scotland are passing it about better now, but they've still not tested the Czech keeper Drobny yet.
    • 41' The corner is played short, but the Czech's clear when the ball is eventually played in.
    • 40' Decent move from Scotland! Hutton is found on the wide right and he plays a ball behind the full back for Robson, but his cross is blocked behind for a corner.
    • 35' Dorrans intercepts a Sveroks pass, does really well to beat one man then plays a nice pass through to Robson whose cross is an inviting one for Miller, but the 'keeper punches clear for a corner, which the Czech's win a free-kick from as Miller is penalised for pushing.
    • 33' Hutton crosses and the ball finds its way to Dorrans in the box. Kusnir does well and Scotland win a corner, which is cleared easily enough.
    • 30' Alan Hutton is found on the right and given time and space to deliver a cross, but it's a poor delivery. He should have done better.
    • 29' Rosicky delivers the corner and everybody missed it and it's eventually forced off the line and Scotland try and break, but Wallace fails to find Dorrans in the last third.
    • 28' Bad challenge from Caldwell. That would be a yellow card if this was a competitive fixture. Instead it's a free-kick which the Czech's take short and eventually win a corner.
    • 26' Gary Caldwell bombs forward! Then he manages to find Alan Hutton, who plays in Barry Robson who shapes to shoot on his cannon of a left foot, but Hubschmann does well to get in to block the shot.
    • 24' Dorrans does well to nick the ball from Kusnir on the left, he then plays it to Miller.. who loses the ball.
    • 23' What is Darren Fletcher doing?! He runs back towards his goal then plays a pass into the middle of the pitch, right to where Rosicky is standing! The Arsenal man plays a nice pass to Sverkos who is clean through and Gordon gets down well to make the save!
    • 21' I think this is the longest Scotland have held the ball for. However, it's just the defence passing the ball back and forth amongst each other. Eventually the Czech's pressure Wallace into kicking it long and the Czech's regain possession.
    • 19' Kusnir, who looks really bright, gets fouled on the right. From the resulting free kick Scotland look to be marking zonally and struggle to deal with the cross. It hits a Czech player and goes into the side netting. He didn't know much about that.
    • 17' Rosicky whips a free kick in from 35-yards. It's flicked on by a Czech head and then bundled into the side-netting by Sverkos. Gordon did have the ball covered though.
    • 17' Scott Brown looks to be following Rosicky around the pitch now.
    • 15' The Czech's really are bossing things here. Scotland have rarely seend the ball much.
    • 12' Brilliant ball from Rosicky finds Necid over the top.. but his control lets him down.. He was in there. Scotland need to pay far more attention to Rosicky.
    • 10' The free kick is whipped in really well and Plasil gets up just in front of Gordon but flicks his header over the bar! If he'd just glanced that then it would have been a goal!
    • 9' Lee Wallace brings down Kusnir and the Czech's have a free-kick wide on the right
    • 6' The Czech's are looking to find Rosicky whenever they can and he burst through the middle and feeds Sverkos who loses possession. Scotland will have to watch out though as seconds later Rosicky just fails to find Necid who makes a run beyond the defensive line.
    • 5' Nice passing move from the Czech's and Plasil, who has started very brightly, is played in by Necid and shoots from 25-yards out. Gordon has it covered the whole way though, and it's wide for a goal-kick.
    • 4' The Czech's have the majority of early possession here but they're mostly just passing it about in their own half
    • 2' Good early movement from the Czech's and Scotland struggle to clear their lines as first Necid just fails to slip in Kadlec and then Kadlec is closed down well by Webster as he tries to get a shot off.
    • 1' And we're off!
    • - Can Craig Levein give Scotland back some hope and pride in their national side? He starts his journey here tonight with his first match. I'm sure Scottish fans would just be happy with a better standard of football. The national anthems are just being played, we'll be under way shortly.
    • - The Czech's are also undergoing something of a rebuilding process. Just Tomas Rosicky remains from the generation of players that made it to the Euro 2004 semi-final.
    • - With James McFadden missing, the creative responsibilities for Scotland may well lie with young Graham Dorrans of West Brom who gets his third cap for Scotland.
    • - In Craig Levein's first game in charge he would love to grab a win, especially against the Cech Republic who have been drawn in Scotland's qualification group for Euro 2012.
    • - Before we get underway the most remarkable fact to note, and sorry Scottish fans, is that Scotland have not won a Hampden friendly since 1996.
