    • - What did you make of the game? Did the conditions affect Spurs? Did Sunderland's superior fitness take them to victory? Should they have scored more? Let me know on Twitter (@grahamruthven).
    • - On the whole Sunderland probably deserved that win. Spurs may have edged possession but it was Di Canio's side who had the better of the chances. They will meet either Manchester City or South China in Saturday's final in Hong Kong.
    • 80' FULL TIME: Tottenham 1-3 Sunderland
    • 79' GOAL! Tottenham 1-3 Sunderland (79 mins - David Moberg Karlsson). Great through ball by Sessegnon who finds Karlsson breaking forward, finishing under Friedal to make it 3-1.
    • 78' Spurs are winding up one last push on the Sunderland goal with just a matter of seconds remaining on the clock.
    • 77' Sunderland sub: Emanuele Giaccherini OFF, James McClean ON.
    • 76' Sunderland sub: Wes Brown OFF, Valentin Roberge ON.
    • 75' Townsend drives forward, breaking from the halfway line to the edge of the box, but he takes it on a little too far and sees his shot charged down. He had options either side of him too.
    • 74' Another outstanding save from Friedal! Wickham must have thought he'd scored with his firt touch, getting on to the end of a cross to head towards goal. However the American keeper clawed the ball off his line.
    • 73' Sunderland sub: Jozy Altidore OFF, Connor Wickham ON.
    • 72' Remember, due to the delayed kick-off full-time will blow at 80 minutes, meaning there's just under eight minutes to play here. Can Spurs find a leveller?
    • 71' Friedal is forced into another save, this time from Cabral who fires straight at the Spurs keeper from the edge of the box.
    • 70' Cabral plays a great ball across the halfway line to Sessegnon, who cuts it back to Altidore with plenty of time and space but Friedal tips the ball wide. Should've found the net.
    • 69' Spurs sub: Clint Dempsey and Tom Huddlestone OFF, Andros Townsend and Tommy Carroll ON.
    • 68' Nobody appears to have told Cabral this is a friendly as he clips the heals of Fryers.
    • 67' Andros Townsend looks to be coming on for Spurs.
    • 66' Mannone slices his kick, giving Defoe a chance 20 yards out but Brown does well to force the Spurs forward away from goal.
    • 65' That goal came at a time when Spurs looked the more likely to find the net. Yet Sunderland's fitness does look to be a little ahead of their opponent's.
    • 64' GOAL! Tottenham 1-2 Sunderland (64 mins - Wes Brown). Karlsson's corner is met by Brown at the back post who powers his header past Friedal. Great goal!
    • 63' Sessegnon takes on Dawson down the right before staging a ball into Altidore but it's cleared for a corner.
    • 62' Di Canio introduces two new signings, with El Hadji Ba joining from Le Havre and David Moberg Karlsson signing from Gothenburg.
    • 61' Sunderland subs: Adam Johnson and Sebastian Larsson OFF, El Hadji Ba and David Moberg Karlsson ON.
    • 60' Defoe collects a fizzed ball across the box at the back post before flashing a shot at goal. However Mannone is strong enough and beats the ball away.
    • 59' Having said that Spurs are having a decent spell of pressure at the moment, although Adebayor has been rather wasteful with his shooting.
    • 58' Sunderland look a little bit sharper than their opponents right now. Perhaps that's the Di Canio fitness work we've heard about coming into play?
    • 57' Huddlestone is clattered by Cabral after good pressing by Sunderland.
    • 56' Dempsey and Adebayor link up once again but this time the striker's shot is wild and slashes it well wide of goal.
    • 55' Adebayor strikes a volley at goal following a deep corner kick but his shot is charged down by Colback, who has been excellent today.
    • 54' Dempsey gets on the ball again and sprints forward before laying it off to Adebayor but his side-footed shot from just inside the box is tipped over the bar.
    • 52' Dempsey hits an effort from long range but Mannone gets his body right behind him and saves with ease.
    • 51' Adebayor drives forward but his run is eventually halted by the Sunderland defence.
    • 50' Altidore collects the ball inside the penalty area, turning and turning in an attempt to create some space for a shot but he drags his effort just past the post.
    • 49' Spurs sub: Jan Vertonghen OFF, Zeki Fryers ON.
    • 48' The Indonesian Spurs (as their scarves tell us) are giving us a hearty rendition of 'When the Spurs go marching in.' Vertonghen still down on the ground.
    • 46' There's a bit of concern about Vertonghen out there. He's still down on the turf talking to the club medical folk. Of course the question is, would he have landed awkwardly on a less dangerous pitch?
    • 45' Vertonghen is down on the turf, holding the back of his knee after an awakward landing. His hamstring?
    • 44' Cabral tries to play through Sessegnon but the speedy forward is flagged for offside. Looked to be a close call.
    • 43' The pitch looks to be cutting up quite badly. Plenty of mud and grass flying about. Just like the good old days!
    • 41' Clear cut chance for Altidore a matter of yards out but he doesn't connect with the ball and the chance is gone. That was as good a chance as you're ever likely to get at this level. Should've found the net.
    • 40' And the second 40 minute half is under way!
    • 40' Spurs sub: Heurelho Gomes, Aaron Lennon and Steven Caulker OFF, Brad Friedal, Jermain Defoe and Jan Vertonghen ON.
    • 40' Spurs sub: Heurelho Gomes, Aaron Lennon and Steven Caulker OFF, Brad Friedal, Jermain Defoe and Jan Vertonghen ON.
    • - What have you made of the game so far? How have Altidore and Giaccherini played for Sunderland? Are Spurs missing Bale? Let me know on Twitter (@grahamruthven).
    • - Remember it's 40 minutes half here in Hong Kong due to the delayed kick-off time. At the break it's 1-1 between Spurs and Sunderland, with both sides competing at a decent level. It's been a good contest thus far.
    • 40' HALF TIME: Tottenham 1-1 Sunderland
    • 39' Both sides playing out the first half here. They're probably looking forward to a good hot shower.
    • 38' As the first half comes to a close the rain eases off. Can we not just play on?
    • 37' Johnson tries to slot through Larsson but the ball holds up in the pitch. Unfortunate because that looked like a great through ball.
    • 36' Gardner stands over a freekick 30 yards out and his low strike forces Gomes to make a rather awkward save.
    • 35' There was no knee slide from Di Canio to celebrate that goal. Must be a little bit too wet.
    • 34' Having played so well today Huddlestone looked to get over confident on the ball before losing the ball that eventually led to a Sunderland goal.
    • 33' Huddlestone was at fault for that goal. He conceded possession cheaply in the centre of midfield allowing Altidore to release Cabral through on goal who finished past Gomes.
    • 32' GOAL! Tottenham 1-1 Sunderland (32 mins - Cabral). Sunderland draw level through new signing Cabral.
    • 31' Sessegnon breaks through a number of Spurs tackles and finds Altidore but he can't reach the ball before Gomes and the danger is eventually cleared.
    • 30' This might be a friendly but Brown just put in a rather unfriendly tackle on Adebayor. Won the ball but a little intense for this stage of the season.
    • 29' Sigurdsson's finish looked to get a deflection off O'Shea, taking it into the net, but the midfielder's shot was on target so it will go down as his goal.
    • 28' Spurs probably deserve their lead and have looked more settled of the two sides. Huddlestone in particular is controlling the game from the centre of midfield.
    • 27' GOAL! Tottenham 1-0 Sunderland (27 mins - Glyfi Sigurdsson). Walker's cut back finds Sigurdsson on the penalty spot and his shot finds the net via a deflection.
    • 25' Sessegnon fouls former teammate Danny Rose. No hard feelings pal.
    • 24' Giaccherini plays a ball through to Altidore but the American is flagged for offside. He just mistimed his run.
    • 23' A camera shot of the Spurs bench shows their subs all huddled together, blankets and all. Summer time in Honk Kong.
    • 21' Sunderland are looking for Altidore at every opportunity. It's not particularly sophisticated but his knock-downs to Sessegnon are giving his side an effective outlet.
    • 20' Spurs break down the pitch through Sigurdsson and Adebayor but Huddlestone panics when he collects the ball 30 yards out and sees his shot blocked by O'Shea.
    • 19' Still raining. Still loads of long balls.
    • 18' Colback is dealing with the pace of Lennon and Walker really well. That's a few times he's stopped them in their tracks down the right.
    • 17' Dempsey stands over a freekick 20 yards out but he plants his effort into the wall. Not a great shot.
    • 16' Dawson makes another interception. He certainly seems to be enjoying himself in the rain.
    • 15' Spurs have settled into this game the better of the two sides. Although passing sequences are proving difficult. It's a bit of a long ball game at the moment.
    • 14' Although its weather conditions might not be the best Hong Kong Stadium really is a magnificent venue. It's set right into the mountains, surrounded by greenery. Come to think of it, that might not have been a great idea.
    • 13' The rain is as heavy as it's been today and there are a few concerned glances between players, officials and coaches.
    • 12' The rain's on again. And it's on heavy.
    • 11' Aaron Lennon is set on his way on the right by Tom Huddlestone but Colback tracks back well to make a challenge and win the ball.
    • 10' Adebayor tries to latch on to a long ball forward but he's offside. Not like him.
    • 9' Good play from Altidore releases Giaccherni down the left side but his shot is blocked by Michael Dawson. Encouraging link-up between the two new signings.
    • 8' Both teams struggling a little with the surface here. In places it quickens the ball up and in other areas is completely stops it. It's a roulette.
    • 7' Johnson cuts inside on to his left foot but his shot is charged down. The rebound falls to Giaccherini but his curling effort goes well wide.
    • 6' Well that was entertaining! Mannone's long punt up the field takes a wicked skid off the sodden pitch, bouncing over Caulker allowing Sessegnon to race on to it through on goal. However the ball held up in the standing water and Sessegnon saw his shot blocked.
    • 5' Dempsey works himself into a corner but Jack Colback forces it out for a throw in.
    • 4' Larsson looks to be playing in the centre of midfield, with Gardner at left back. Given their versatility it's often difficult to gauge where those two will be playing.
    • 3' Gylfi Sigurdsson fires the resulting freekick just past the post. Good effort but might have been better served skidding that one along the turf.
    • 2' Clint Dempsey surges forward and forces Wes Brown into a challenge, but the former Manchester United defender brings down the American.
    • 2' There's a bit of a kit clash going on here. Spurs wearing white and dark blue shorts, with Sunderland wearing red and white stripes with black shorts. It's not easy from a distance.
    • 1' Half an hour later than expected, we're finally under way in Hong Kong!
    • 11:28 There's a Premier League banner in the centre-circle that reads "Get on with the game." Quite apt.
    • 11:27 Looks like we're finally going to get under way here. The teams are out the tunnels to a fanfare reception. What I mean by that is that the fans have been switched on to dry the crowd.
    • 11:25 Now Sunderland are out on the pitch warming up. So why have Spurs confined themselves to the tunnel? Perpetuating that stereotype about southeners not liking a spot of rain?
    • 11:22 Spurs are doing their warm-up in the tunnel. Heurelho Gomes can't find a goalkeeping coach so he's just using the wall to bounce the ball off. Improvisation.
    • 11:20 The playing surface in Hong Kong still looks very soggy. And there's only one man out there with a fork. That'll do it.
    • 11:12 Looking forward to seeing how Giaccherini and Altidore play together. They've been Sunderland's biggest signings of the summer and Di Canio looks to be focussing his attack on them.
    • 11:10 Looks like the rain has eased off a little in Hong Kong. Still huge puddles of water in the centre of the pitch, but should be playable in 20 minutes.
    • 11:07 A decision has been made. Kick-off is at 11.30am and two halves of 40 minutes will be played.
    • 11:02 The Hong Kong Stadium PA is now playing the Black Eyed Peas for the completely drenched crowd. That'll make them feel better.
    • 11:00 Still no word if this game will be kicking off on time but there appears to be some movement in the tunnel. Teams preparing to enter the storm?
    • 10:58 The referee is off to speak to both managers to gauge their feelings about the match. The pitch looks rather flooded. I expect kick-off to be delayed by a few minutes.
    • 10:57 It's absolutely pouring down in Hong Kong! I mean, torrential! The officials are huddled in the centre of the pitch, presumably making a decision about whether this game can go ahead.
    • 10:55 Manchester City and South China will contest the other semi-final later today, with the winners meeting in Saturday's final. Should this game end as a draw we will head straight to a penalty shoot-out. No extra-time.
    • 10:50 The official line from Spurs is that Bale is injured but kinda coincidental that he misses out after those reports in Spain that he's set to join Real Madrid, don't you think?
    • 10:45 Having made the move from AZ Alkmaar American striker Jozy Altidore gets a start up front, with Emanuele Giaccherini also making the line-up for Sunderland.
    • 10:40 Biggest absence from today's line-ups is Gareth Bale, who is missing from the Spurs side. He has been linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent days. Does his omission mean anything?
    • 10:35 TEAM NEWS: Spurs - Gomes; Rose, Dawson, Caulker, Walker; Sigurdsson, Huddlestone, Dempsey, Parker, Lennon; Adebayor. Subs - Friedel, Lloris, Vertonghen, Naughton, Naughton, Defoe, Townsend, Assou-Ekotto, Fryers, Carroll. /// Sunderland - Mannone; Colback, Brown, Cabral, Colback; Larsson, Johnson, Gardner, Giaccherini, Sessegnon; Altidore.
