    • 90+5' The final whistle goes and it's a convincing victory for Villa, while Sunderland have picked up just one home point from a possible six in the past four days. Villa now move back up to third in the Premier League table.
    • 90+2' Steve Sidwell replaces Agbonlahor as O'Neill runs the clock down.
    • 90+1' Sunderland come forward again and Reid pings a ball to the near post for BARDSLEY... the header is glanced wide of the target.
    • 90' Reid juggles the ball on the edge of the box but his eventual shot is blocked behind for a corner. The ball is back in the Sunderland half soon enough.
    • 89' Luke Young nobbles Reid by the touchline and then unleashes a string of expletives at the Irishman! The referee does not hesitiate in booking for the foul.
    • 88' Reid slips a ball up for Bardsley to chase. Yep, it looks as though Phil Bardsley is playing up front.
    • 85' There are plenty of empty seats in the ground now, as Sunderland fans set off out into the rain.
    • 84' Cattermole tries to find Richardson with a ball over the top, but it's no trouble for Cuellar.

    • 78' CANA SENT OFF! The Sunderland captain is shown a second yellow for a dangerous sliding tackle on Milner! To be honest, some referee's might have given a straight red for it.

    • 64' Luke Young does enough to put Reid off his stride, but Sunderland have a throw. From it Reid crosses for JONES... over the bar! This time Jones got the better of Cuellar, but the Spaniard still did enough to put him off his effort.
    • 62' That's Milner's fourth league strike of the season. Depending on your views about the lob he scored against Hull, that is arguably his best of the lot.
    • 61' GOAL!! Great individual effort from Milner! Sunderland lose possession from a defensive throw-in and Milner fights off Richardson before blasting an unstoppable strike right into the top corner from outside the box! Are you watching Fabio?
    • 60' This match is heating up nicely as we hit the hour mark.
    • 58' Another dead ball for Sunderland on the left. There are plenty of red and white shirts in the box. Cana's header comes off a defender and they have a corner. The Wearside crowd are making themselves heard now.
    • 57' Villa break forward. Heskey slips Young in and the winger is onside. He comes forward and smashes a strike against the outside of the post!
    • 57' Reid swings in the ball to the far post for Richardson. The ball gets stuck under his feet and by the time he digs out a shot it's been charged down. If anything his control was too good there!

    • 45+2' Jones is livid that a throw-in decision goes against him by the Villa corner flag. He's got a point.

    • 45' Bent impedes Petrov and Villa have a free-kick on the left.
    • 44' Luke Young concedes a free-kick on the left wing. The delivery is headed back across across goal by Bent and it is cleared as far as Henderson... once more volleyed wide.
    • 42' Nosworthy intercepts Warnock's pass to Young and Sunderland come forward. Bent wins a free-kick which is taken quickly, but Nosworthy's ball is hard for Jones to reach.

    • 28' Cuellar's clearance loops into the air but Bent is marked out by two men. villa break through Young but the winger's cross is too far ahead of Agbonlahor.

    • 25' That goal means Heskey has now scored against Sunderland for five different clubs.
    • 24' GOAL!! Milner toe-pokes a through ball into the path of Heskey who is onside... He slots it calmly past Fulop to open the scoring!

    • 22' Cuellar rejoins play as Sunderland win another corner. Reid's ball to the far post is for Jones but again Villa clear the set piece efficiently.
    • 21' Jones jumps for the high ball forward but Cuellar beats the striker in the air - no mean feat! He pays for it with a nasty blow to the head though. He's on the ground receiving treatment. The game will restart with a Sunderland throw.

    • 18' Milner does well to beat Cana on the wing and he finds Heskey in the box, but the target man's lay-off is poor.
    • 17' Great defensive work from Cana sees him break up a Villa attack, but Villa are in the ascendant now.
    • 16' It will be Downing to strike... OFF THE BAR!! The rebound makes it's way to Warnock, who blazes into the crowd from an acute angle.

    • 14' The crowd want a free-kick for Darren Bent after he went to ground on the right. Nothing given. Instead McCartney gets a booking for bringing down Heskey on the edge of the box after Villa break. Great free-kick opportunity here...

    • 11' Villa have set their stall out to contain Sunderland and hit them on the break in this match. To be fair, they are one of the sides best equipped to do so, but this match is winnable enough for them to show a little more ambition.
    • 10' Richardson loses the ball on the edge of the Villa box but shows great work rate to win it back of Heskey.
    • 8' Bent chests the ball into the path of Henderson who drills a shot just high of the upright! First decent chance for either side.
