    • Chelsea
    • 90+3 Final whistle, a comfortable win for Chelsea in the end after a rather uncomfortable first half.
    • 90+2 Long one from Sunderland almost releases Bent but Terry and Ivanovic are both back in time to shepherd it back to Cech.
    • 90+1 Sturridge tries a cheeky lob but Fulop gets back to claim.
    • 89' Three minutes of added time being played.
    • 87' Corner to Chelsea on the left which Lampard swings in. A poor clearance by McCartney allows Sturridge to get it on the right, he cuts inside and drills in a low shot but wide.
    • 86' CHELSEA SUB: Shevchenko is on for Deco. Everyone thinks Sheva will leave but people forget how close he is to Carlo Ancelotti.
    • 85' SUNDERLAND SUB: Reid on for Richardson.
    • 84' CHELSEA SUB: Drogba comes off for former Manchester City youngster Daniel Sturridge.
    • 83' Bosingwa and Ballack almost combine on the edge of the Sunderland box but the hosts clear as Chelsea prepare to bring on some late subs.
    • 81' The home fans raise a cheer as their side aim some long balls at the Chelsea box but Cech is equal to them.
    • 80' Drogba turns on the edge of the box but the whistle goes, he pushed his marker off the ball and Sunderland have a free-kick.
    • 79' A high one aimed for Lampard unfortunately his him on the arm as he controls, I say unfortunately because his turn and lob are exquisite as the ball flies over Fulop and into the back of the net.
    • 78' Still with Sunderland as some nice passing takes Richardson into the left channel but his touch lets him down, Bosingwa is covering and the former Manchester United winger gives away a free-kick.
    • 77' A rare spell of possession for Sunderland, who win a throw on the left.
    • 76' CHELSEA SUB: Kalou comes off for Malouda.
    • 75' Very tight offside with Drogba slid clear of the Sunderland defence, indeed that looked on to me.
    • 73' Foul by Bosingwa on Campbell. Sunderland look less dangerous without Jones.
    • 71' Sunderland's heads have dropped now. Chelsea have really turned it on in this second half and they just have no answer, still hemmed in their own half with no real chance at touching the ball.
    • 69' Chelsea come forward, Essien to Drogba, quick ball to Deco, he drifts past one man as Drogba moves into the box and it opens up for Deco who spanks a vicious, dipping drive THAT SWERVES WICKEDLY AND CLATTERS IN OFF THE POST! CHELSEA MAKE IT 3-1! What a goal! Lovely football from Chelsea and Deco goes some way to disproving the doubters, he is back and in some style!
    • 67' Cana trips Deco five yards from the area on the Chelsea right, the new Sunderland skipper enters the book now.
    • 66' Chelsea on the break, superb ball down the left for Cole who is surely offside but the flag stays down and he crosses for DROGBA WHO MUST SCORE BUT HIS HEADER INTO THE GROUND SOMEHOW BOUNCES OVER!
    • 65' Chelsea are dominating now and I cannot see any way back for Sunderland. Their confidence looks shot after conceding two quick goals.
    • 63' Bosingwa on the right again with a decent cross but Collins clears.
    • 62' SUNDERLAND SUB: Cattermole comes off for Leadbitter.
    • 61' SUNDERLAND SUB: Campbell on for Jones.
    • 59' Lampard steps up, he rarely misses these and BANG, bottom left, no chance Fulop even though he went the right way. Lampard with his trademark celebration to the heavens.
    • 58' Drogba on the right, he cuts inside and powers past Cana, great run and McCartney comes across him and sticks out a leg to bring him down for a penalty! Chelsea have the chance to lead!
    • 56' Deco plays a diagonal ball into the left channel where Cole gets in behind the full-back Bardsley and he clips over a superb chest-height ball and Drogba stoops to meet it but just in front of him and away!! Great wide-play from Cole!
    • 55' Richardson and Bent over it, Bent takes but a poor effort straight into the wall.
    • 54' A long ball is chased by Jones and Ivanovic pulls him down on the edge of the box and he could be in trouble! Only a yellow card but, really, that could have been red! Terry adjudged to have been back in time for him not to have been last man.
    • 52' Lampard with the corner on the left, brilliant flat near-post delivery which Ivanovic flicks on and it drops to Ballack who drills it in low and past Cattermole on the post and into the bottom right! Chelsea level!
    • 51' Lampard does well to wriggle out of a cul-de-sac and swing over an excellent far-post ball and Cole is in but Barsdley makes an excellent intervention to stick out a leg and divert it wide for a corner!
    • 50' This second corner comes in, swung far post from the right and DROGBA FLIES IN WITH THE HEADER BUT JUST OVER!
    • 49' Chelsea win a succession of corners, the first tipped over by Fulop.
    • 48' Lampard on the left-hand side of the area, he turns and drills a low shot at the near post but Fulop has it covered and just lets it go wide for a goal kick.
    • 47' Calm defending by Collins to nod the ball back to Fulop after Chelsea again put pressure on the Sunderland goal.
    • 46' Second half underway!
    • - A lot of you are leaving comments decrying a "rubbish" formation being played by Chelsea, although the graphic does not do it justice - Cole and Bosingwa are almost playing as wingers so it is more a 3-4-2-1...
    • - Bent has scored two in two while Chelsea have conceded first twice in two games this season.
    • 45+1 Half-time, Sunderland lead Chelsea 1-0 thanks to Darren Bent's second goal in two games!
    • 45' Ironic cheers from the home support as Ivanovic is penalised for unfairly challenging a high ball with Jones.
    • 44' Good bustling centre-forward play by Jones to win a corner.
    • 42' The crowd cheer as Richardson robs Cole in his own half, Richardson comes forward but tries an ambitious dribble, all on his own, and Terry clears.
    • 41' Kalou centre-right, wide to Bosingwa who cuts past McCartney and tries a cross with his team-mates lining up but a poor, poor delivery almost flat to the penalty spot and Sunderland clear.
    • 40' Kalou cuts in from the right and tries a shot but it goes well over.
    • 39' Bardsley with another block after Ballack almost smashes it home, now Bosingwa on the right beats one man, and another and he hammers in a drive but parried by Fulop! One-way traffic here now...
    • 38' Second corner swung in from the left, Ivanovic flies in and it ricochets and must score but blocked by Bardsley I think again!
    • 37' Good delivery from the left and there are bodies everywhere and it comes off McCartney and flies just wide for another corner!
    • 36' Lampard runs into space on the right and clips a hanging ball for Drogba to attack but Bardsley gets there first and heads it over for a corner!
    • 35' Cana repays the fair-play compliment to Chelsea when, as both chase a ball to the byline, Terry sends the Sunderland captain into the hoardings. Cana just gets up, shakes his hand and gets on with it, neatly acclimatising to the English game.
    • 34' Bosingwa does well to stay on his feet after a sliding challenge from Cattermole.
    • 33' Chelsea come forward again, good stuff from Deco and Kalou but the final ball is behind the Ivorian and Sunderland clear.
    • 32' Foul on Fulop by Ivanovic at the corner, Sunderland have some respite.
    • 31' Fairly incessant pressure from Chelsea here as Ballack swings one far post for Drogba but Bardsley meets it to head behind for a corner.
    • 30' Cattermole is retrospectively booked for that late one on Ballack, which the Chelsea man totally hammed up, he was and is fine.
    • 29' Cattermole clatters into Ballack, who is down (probably feigning injury), Deco into Lampard now who works some space in the box with a clever turn but his shot is blocked and Sunderland clear.
    • 28' Chelsea claim for a penalty rejected, Deco I think it was who went down but the shouts are half-hearted.
    • 27' More Chelsea pressure, Deco wide to Ballack on the right, he swings over a high cross but easy for Collins to clear.
    • 26' A high ball into the Sunderland box causes problems and Kenwyne Jones, back defending, slips as he hacks it clear but Sunderland survive.
    • 25' Promising move from Chelsea, Essien in to Drogba who cuts in from the left, turns and surges towards goal, he plays it to Deco who touches it on to Ballack but the German’s shot is awful, miles over.
    • 24' Deco to tale but the referee blows for a foul by Ivanovic. Chelsea are angry and the referee talks to the Serb, who had no idea why he was penalised.
    • 23' Henderson with another foul on Cole, this time a shirt-pull as the England left-back got away from him. Chelsea win a corner through Kalou on the right.
    • 22' Chelsea on the charge, Deco gets it on the edge of the box and he flashes an outswinging shot that flies just wide of the right-hand post! Great effort, just curved too much at the end.
    • 21' Sunderland come forward again on the right but Bent's cross is high and out for a goal kick.
    • 19' Sunderland play the ball to the edge of the box, Richardson with an attempted flick, Jones tries to hold it up on the edge of the box but makes a hash of his first touch and it rebounds off Terry INTO THE PATH OF BENT WHO IS IN AND ONSIDE AND HE RIFLES IT UNDER CECH FOR 1-0! BENT SCORES AGAIN!! A classic poacher's finish after a lucky break, Sunderland lead!!
    • 18' Sunderland counter now but Chelsea hold firm. Throw to the Black Cats on the left.
    • 17' Deco long into the left channel, Cole chases but a heavy first touch sends it away from him although he slides in to make contact and put it into the box but Fulop is there to claim at the near post.
    • 16' Chelsea have a corner on the right, swung in by Lampard and Drogba flies in as the ball bounces but cleared by Sunderland!
    • 15' Another poor, poor delivery, Deco this time, Sunderland clear.
    • 14' Good break from Chelsea, Essien and Kalou combine to send Bosingwa into the box down the right, he cuts the ball back to Ballack but behind him and the whistle has gone for a free-kick just outside the box. The referee played advantage but, as it came to nothing, pulled the play back – Bosingwa had his shirt pulled by Bardsley.
    • 13' Not a very good corner by Lampard, Sunderland clear and go straight down the other end, Henderson chases it down the right but Cole will get there first and CRUNCH a late one from Henderson, who tries to play on claiming he got the ball but that was a definite foul.
    • 12' Fulop makes a mess of dealing with a low cross by Ballack down the right after some good play by Bosingwa.
    • 10' Chelsea have had a bit more possession in this opening 10 minutes but Sunderland look fairly dangerous on the break with the visitors susceptible to the pace of Bent it seems.
    • 8' Essien on the right, he cuts inside past Cattermole after his poor clearance, the Ghanaian has a chance to shoot from the edge of the D but he puts it miles over, getting well under the ball there.
    • 6' Henderson almost cuts into the box from the right but he is crowded out by a cluster of blue shirts.
    • 5' Chelsea counter and Deco, playing off Drogba, gets in and tries to combine with Kalou but a good block by Collins I think and Sunderland survive.
    • 4' Young Henderson - in for the injured Malbranque - almost gets in down the right but Cole does well and Chelsea clear.
    • 3' Bent chases a long one and it takes a touch off Jones that sends it around Ivanovic, Bent is in and he takes it early bit shoots well wide. He should have taken than on and cut into the box.
    • 2' Early chance for Chelsea as Cole gets in down the right, his cross is deflected into the path of Ballack and LAMPARD HAS A CRACK but he hits it well over.
    • 1' Match underway at the Stadium of Light!
    • - Craig Gordon is on the bench for Sunderland with Marton Fulop continuing in goal.
    • - Michael Ballack starts for Chelsea then, with Mikel and Malouda on the bench and Kalou starting too. Ivanovic plays centre-half with Carvalho dropped.
    • - Chelsea: Cech, Bosingwa, Ivanovic, Terry, Ashley Cole, Essien, Ballack, Lampard, Kalou, Drogba, Deco; Subs: Hilario, Carvalho, Shevchenko, Mikel, Malouda, Sturridge, Anelka
    • - Sunderland team: Fulop, Bardsley, Ferdinand, Collins, McCartney, Henderson, Cattermole, Cana, Richardson, Jones, Bent; Subs: Gordon, Nosworthy, Edwards, Campbell, Leadbitter, Reid, Healy
    • - Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has backed Chelsea's claims on the Premier League title this season. Bruce: Chelsea still team to beat
    • - Match stats: Chelsea have won by a single-goal margin in their last four trips to the Stadium of Light in the Premier League. Only Hull picked up fewer points at home than Sunderland in 2008-09.
    • - Match stats: Chelsea are looking for their 10th successive Premier League win against the Black Cats. Sunderland have scored just four goals in their last 10 top-flight games against Chelsea.
    • - SUNDERLAND TEAM NEWS: Steed Malbranque is a doubt after he twisted an ankle in Saturday's 1-0 win at Bolton and is rated at 50-50 at best, while Kieran Richardson is struggling with a dead leg suffered in the same game. Andy Reid missed that game with a thigh problem, but has resumed training while keeper Craig Gordon was on the bench at the weekend as he continues his recovery from a knee injury. Summer signing Paulo da Silva is working his way back to full match fitness, while Paul McShane remains on the sidelines after knee surgery.
    • - CHELSEA TEAM NEWS: Michael Ballack is hoping for a place in the starting line-up after he was a half-time substitute for John Obi Mikel against Hull last weekend as Carlo Ancelotti tinkered with his diamond formation. Juliano Belletti and Alex are close to returning for the Blues but Yuri Zhirkov, Joe Cole and Paolo Ferreira remain sidelined.
