    • 89' Brilliant finish to beat Howard there. Phew! What a match this has been. We are into four minutes of time added on.
    • 88' GOAL! Ba slips the ball into the net from Shola Ameobi's chest on and that is the equaliser. 2-2. Distin can't keep it out on the line. Astonishing stuff.
    • 87' Bedlam around Goodison Park here. Can Everton hold out for this win?
    • 86' GOAL! Anichebe accepts the pass from Pienaar before turning to slam the low shot into the corner of the net. Brilliant finish and a 2-1 lead for Everton.
    • 85' One goal now will settle this match and who is it going to come for? A frantic dash for the line. Everton on the ball.
    • 84' A glorious chance for Newcastle to win it at the other end, but Howard keeps out the shot by Ben Arfa before Jagielka helps out his keeper.
    • 83' Steven Naismith has been wheeled on to take over from Kevin Mirallas.
    • 82' A booking then for Fellaini as he stamps trying to win the ball. Clearly went over it.
    • 81' Just seeing a replay of that Everton 'goal'....Jagielka nodded it into Anichebe's path. Ball was clearly over the line despite the best efforts of Harper and Williamson to keep it out.
    • 80' Amid all the mayhem, Shola Ameobi has replaced Papiss Demba Cissé for Newcastle.
    • 79' One goal may win this match, but who it is going to fall for is anybody's guess.
    • 78' Everton should be 2-1 ahead, but then somehow get lucky seconds later when Ben Arfa was going to dash through on goal. Three against one, but Pienaar is booked for the foul around the halfway line.
    • 77' Anichebee heads over the line, but the referee has missed it. Comes back off the underside of the bar and cleared. Ball was over the line, but the goal has not been given. Astonishing.
    • 76' Anichebe manages to flick on the free-kick from the back by Distin, but never really finding the intended direction. Harper can hammer it long down the park.
    • 75' Fellaini taking a bit of a sore one as he fell on his shoulder. Just needing a few minutes to get back on his feet.
    • 74' Osman so close to a second for Everton. Pienaar picked out Osman, but not enough curl on the shot from the edge of the box. Wide by a couple of yards. We remain at 1-1.
    • 73' This match being watched eagerly by Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson this evening. Offside flag goes up against Cisse.
    • 72' Taylor dashes back at the other end to ensure Mirallas can't get a free cross into the area.
    • 71' Cisse with a ball down the centre, but again overhits the pass as Howard can take. This proving to be a real game of two halves this evening.
    • 70' Newcastle have worked hard to stem the flow of passes to Baines and Pienaar and the ploy seems to have paid off for the visiting side. Pardew looking a lot more comfortable.
    • 69' Ba tries to lift the ball through to Cisse but succeeds only in picking out the huge paws of Howard.
    • 68' Ba showing some wonderful skill to control Harper's long punt down the park. Distin tracks his man with some relish. Phew! Frantic stuff here.
    • 67' Cabaye swings it over, but Everton rise to head clear. Newcastle continue their push forward as Baines is forced to block a Perch cross.
    • 66' Hibbert back to make a timely tackle on Ben Arfa as Newcastle earn another corner here.
    • 65' A lovely pass into the middle by Ben Arfa, but Distin does just enough to scramble it away. Both sets of fans warming to the occasion.
    • 64' Newcastle a completely different proposition since they found that equaliser. Really taking the game to Everton now.
    • 63' Anichebe races straight into Harper and through the ball. Could have been a booking or worse, but Harper defends the forward in an act of real sportsmanship.
    • 62' The 5 other teams to score 1000 Premier League goals are Man Utd (1551), Arsenal (1353), Chelsea (1290), Liverpool (1239) & Spurs (1078).
    • 61' Game raging from end to end. Newcastle really starting to move the ball with some relish. Pienaar knocks the ball off Anita. A corner to Everton.
    • 60' A huge decision in the context of this game. Pech picks out Cisse at the other end, but he clips a lob just over the bar.
    • 59' This game could any way here as Fellaini sees a goal disallowed for offside from Pienaar's pass. Bad decision there. Looked to be onside.
    • 58' Santon races back to clear the danger after Baines had thrown over another stunning cross. First time we have seen the excellent Baines in this half.
    • 57' Gutiérrez sees a ball deflect behind for Newcastle's first corner of the night. Williamson wins the ball in the air, but Everton do well to win the second ball.
    • 56' Newcastle are the sixth team to reach 1000 Premier League goals and the first non-ever present side to do so.
    • 55' Everton look to break through Fellaini, whose shot at goal is blocked by the visiting defence. Everton earn a corner. Osman drills a shot over the bar from inside the area.
    • 54' Mirallas forced to pull back Perch, and that will be a foul to the visiting side.
    • 53' The visiting fans suddenly enjoying their night out as Harper hammers the ball down the pitch from his own box.
    • 52' Everton forced to go to try to win this game for a second time as Cabaye stops the progress of Fellaini. Free-kick is then given against Cisse.
    • 51' Must be said that Howard made heavy weather of that. Went down in installments trying to save that shot. Should probably have got to that.
    • 50' GOAL! Newcastle equalise as Ba races onto a pass from Cabaye before slipping a left-foot shot beyond the stricken Howard. Somehow the visitors level at 1-1.
    • 49' Harper hammers the ball long from the back, but Distin wins the ball in the air ahead of Cisse.
    • 48' An offside flag goes up against Cisse in the opening moments of this second period. Ba trying to add some class to that forward line.
    • 47' Change for the visiting side at the break with Demba Ba replacing Sylvain Marveaux. Vital that Newcastle get themselves on the front foot in this second period.
    • 46' We are off and running in the second period of this one.
    • 45+3' Newcastle deal with the free-kick from Baines. Clear the danger, and that is that for a breathless first period. A minor miracle, but the scoreline is only 1-0 in favour of Everton. Newcastle hanging on by their fingertips here.
    • 44' We are into three minutes of time added on in the first period.
    • 43' Baines continues to bound up and down the park. Everton have put together 200 passes compared to 117 passes by Newcastle in this first half.
    • 42' Jelavic has taken a knock and has run his race for the night. He is replaced by Victor Anichebe.
    • 41' Pienaar opts to go for goal instead of passing the ball to Osman. Ball curls inches wide of goal. Should have passed to Osman after robbing Perch of the ball.
    • 40' Perch with a header into the box. Distin with a couple of bites at clearing, but does the necessary with the second clearance.
    • 39' More bright play by Mirallas as he cuts in from out wide. Drives the ball at goal, but Harper was down quickly to make the stop.
    • 38' Jelavic almost on the end of Pienaar's cross from out wide. Mindful defending by Steven Taylor, who leapt well to ensure Jelavic wouldn't have a free header at goal.
    • 37' Offside flag goes up against Fellaini, who is looking a bit bemused. Harper can launch this free-kick into the opposing half.
    • 36' James Perch has been booked for a late challenge on Jelavic. The former Rangers forward in the wars this evening so far.
    • 35' Anita sees his shot scrambled off the line by Baines after the visiting side had put together their best move of the night. Some lovely play by Ben Arfa.
    • 34' A spot of rain falling and the mood overhead is as gloomy as the faces of those Newcastle fans so far. Not much to shout about for the visiting side.
    • 33' Osman takes a tumble in the box. Appeals for a penalty, but never a spot-kick. Newcastle doing well to press the ball, but not as much as Everton, who are rampant this evening.
    • 32' Jelavic proving so elusive with his flicks and headers in and around the box. A very dangerous customer in every sense of the word. Everton manager David Moyes probably slightly surprised his side are only one goal ahead.
    • 31' Jagielka flashes a shot inches wide of goal from distance after lovely play by Jelavic. Superb move by Everton again. Harper was beaten there.
    • 30' Anita is going to be booked for taking out Hibbert with a late challenge. Can have no complaints about that.
    • 29' Gutiérrez across to whack clear the header on by Jelavic. Cisse cutting an isolated figure in the forward areas for Newcastle.
    • 28' You get the feeling Cisse would have stuck that into the net last season. This is a different season, and there is a different mood in the air. Everton well on top and then some.
    • 27' First real chance of the night for Newcastle, but Cisse can only volley wide of goal from 15 yards after Jagielka and Neville had failed to head clear th danger.
    • 26' Pienaar back on his feet and Newcastle earn a free-kick 35 yards from the home goal out wide. Chance for Newcastle to ask a few questions of the home defence.
    • 25' Leighton Baines has now scored 10 Premier League goals since August 2010, more than any other defender in that period.
    • 24' Anita and Pienaar collide in the middle of the park. Looks like Pienaar is needing some treatment here.
    • 23' Jelavic slips at the vital moment in the box under pressure from Williamson. That visiting defence looking none too convincing.
    • 22' Mirallas turns in the box and gets a shot away that is well saved by a relieved Harper. Mirallas a bit of a livewire so far.
    • 21' Lovely piece of skill by Jelavic in the box to earn his side a corner-kick. Another chance for Everton to apply the pressure.
    • 20' Cisse getting little or no support from his team-mates as he fouls Distin for no good reason.
    • 19' Phil Neville is the seventh player in Premier League history to reach 80 yellow cards...after Bowyer, K Davies, Scholes, Savage, Boateng & Parker.
    • 18' Baines really taking the match to Everton down his left hand side. Well and truly outstanding for Everton before Mirallas hammers a shot inches wide from 25 yards.
    • 17' Mirallas drives the ball into the box. Comes back off Fellaini, but Newcastle make sure it deosn't drop out for a corner.
    • 16' Distin again marking Cisse tightly as the ball flies straight through to Howard. No worries there for the home side.
    • 15' The visiting side just being pinned back. Everton rising to the occasion. What will the Newcastle response be? Assistant boss John Carver looks none too happy on the touchline.
    • 14' GOAL! Brilliant finish by Baines! That goal was coming. Everton lead 1-0. Lovely backheel from Pienaar to Baines and he thumps the ball low and hard into the net.
    • 13' Anita tries a through ball for Newcastle, but Baines is on hand to make a timely clearing header. All very frantic here.
    • 12' Since August 1998, this fixture has seen more penalties (13) than any other in the Premier League. Will there be another one tonight? Plenty of movement in and around the visiting box.
    • 11' A sustained period of attacking play by Everton as Osman sees a shot blocked. Everton continue on the offensive before Cisse is crowded out by Distin.
    • 10' Everton trying to get their passing game going. Neville then hoists it long, but Williamson rises to head clear any danger.
    • 9' Neville slides the ball to Distin. Fellaini then brings Baines into the play before Pienaar slips the shot wide from inside the box. Lovely move, but the finish wasn't there.
    • 8' Scrappy piece of play involving Mirallas and Jelavic. Not the most convincing start from either side. Both teams feeling each other out.
    • 7' Williamson whacks the ball long with Jelavic looking dangerous in the Newcastle half.
    • 6' Papiss Demba Cisse scored 13 goals in his first 12 league games for Newcastle but has since gone five without scoring. He still has the best minutes/goal rate of any player with more than 10 goals in Premier League history (107 mins/goal).
    • 5' Alan Pardew getting used to life in the stands. Harper knocks the ball long down the park from his own half. Neville clatters Cisse late and that will be a booking for the home skipper.
    • 4' Decent stop by Harper to make the save from Fellaini initially. Jelavic continues hobbling, but is happily back on the park.
    • 3' Jelavic has stuck the ball in the net, but has collided with the post. An offside decision that the officials have got spot on. Jelavic may be finished for the night here.
    • 2' Jagielka with a fine tackle to halt Ben Arfa in the opening moments. Windy night at Goodison, but the pitch resembling a bowling green.
    • 1' Everton get the match off and running.
    • 19.57 Everton and Newcastle paying tribute to the 96 victims of the Hillsborough tragedy. The ground erupts in applause while the sound of The Hollies's 'He ain't heavy, he's my brother' is played. Very emotional stuff.
    • 19.55 Newcastle have scored 999 goals in Premier League history. Hatem Ben Arfa’s first goal in English football was netted against Everton at Goodison Park on 18 September 2010. Defeat at West Brom last time out ended a run of 11 Premier League games without defeat for the Toffees (W7 D4). David Moyes’ side have won eight and lost just one of their last 10 Premier League home matches.
    • 19.50 The referee tonight is Mike Jones. Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is serving the first of a two-match suspension having shoved assistant referee Peter Kirkup on the opening day of the season during the win over Tottenham.
    • 19.45 Match odds for this one: Everton (11/13), Newcastle (13/3), Draw (13/5)
    • 19.40 David Moyes on the inclusion of Kevin Mirallas ahead of Steven Naismith: "Hopefully, Mirallas is going to give us a few more goals. I've got a decent squad and I want to keep as many involved as possible. Newcastle have some really good players in their side, but all of these games are tough."
    • 19.35 Alan Pardew (Newcastle): "It's obvious from the start of the season that Everton have picked up where they left off last year. They beat us comfortably at the back end of last year. It's a tough game for us, and I think it's going to be for everybody at Goodison, as Manchester United found out. We have got a lot to do there."
    • 19.30 Four changes for Newcastle. Tim Krul makes way for Steve Harper while Demba Ba drops out. James Perch, Mike Williamson and Sylvain Marveaux all start. Midfielder Cheick Tiote is still out with the calf injury which has sidelined him since the opening day of the season, as are utility man Ryan Taylor (knee ligaments), midfielder Haris Vuckic (groin) and striker Shola Ameobi (hamstring).
    • 19.25 Everton midfielder Darron Gibson has been ruled out for up to five weeks with a thigh strain. However, manager David Moyes reported no other problems from players coming back from the international break. Costa Rica midfielder Bryan Oviedo, a deadline-day signing from FC Copenhagen, is not yet eligible as he has been finalising his work permit and required paperwork. Tony Hibbert comes in for Gibson with Kevin Mirallas replacing Steven Naismith.
