    • 90+4' FULL TIME. What a result for Chelsea, who go third thanks to Mata's late goal. Rafael with a red card for kicking out at Luiz, who had a cheeky smile to himself.
    • 90+3' Ramires gets a shot away as Chelsea break but it goes wide. Just seconds remaining before they claim a big, big win.
    • 90+2' We will have four added minutes.
    • 90+1' CHANGES: Javier Hernandez for Valencia for United and Nathan Ake on for Mata for Chelsea.
    • 90' Rafael lost his head and went after Luiz, giving him a kick near the corner flag. Definite red, even if Luiz did have a little smile to himself when he was down on the floor.
    • 89' Rafael is sent off as trouble erupts. Pushing all round.
    • 88' What a huge, huge goal that could be. Chelsea above Arsenal into third as things stand.
    • 87' GOAL! Man Utd 0-1 Chelsea! Juan Mata with a late strike! Ramires lays the ball off to Oscar and he switches it quickly to Mata, who sees his shot take a nick off Jones and sneak past Lindegaard to find the bottom corner.
    • 85' Luiz loses it when a decision doesn't go his way. And now he mouths off to Webb to earn a booking for dissent.
    • 84' Van Persie and Torres engage in a little war of words, with a bout of finger-pointing for good measure. No idea why.
    • 83' Luiz takes the free-kick and lashes the ball high and wide. Very poor.
    • 82' Evra pushes Mata from behind to give away a free-kick 20 yards from goal...
    • 81' Chelsea threaten to break and Jones takes a yellow card for bodychecking Ramires.
    • 80' CHANCE FOR UNITED! United go on a storming run down the right before Rafael's cross is turned behind by Ivanovic!
    • 79' Lindegaard punches away the corner then spills the next as Chelsea continue to apply pressure on the home side.
    • 78' CHANCE FOR CHELSEA! Lampard dinks in a cross from the right and only just fails to land the ball on the head of Mata. Rafael touches it behind for a corner, and Chelsea quickly win another.
    • 77' Stat from Infostrada: "There have been 19 goals in the previous five matches between these clubs this season."
    • 76' Moses is given the hook as Torres makes his way onto the pitch for Chelsea.
    • 75' Buttner's outstretched arm catches Azpilicueta in the face but the two men touch hands to signal no ill feeling. That's what's known as a classy touch, I believe.
    • 73' Cech punches clear from the corner but United regain possession and Valencia picks out Rooney, who heads over the bar when challenging in the air.
    • 72' Ashley Cole grapples with Jones near the byline before United manage to clear. They race down the other end and win a corner...
    • 71' Chelsea threaten to open up United when Mata threads a pass to Ramires but Lindegaard manages to come out with the ball.
    • 69' Hopefully that will spark this game into life - it's pretty dismal so far.
    • 68' Here comes a double change for United as Cleverley and Anderson are replaced by Wayne Rooney and Alexander Buttner.
    • 67' Mata thunders his free-kick into the wall and when the loose ball rolls to Luiz he tries to set Mata free again, but United regroup.
    • 66' Mata buys a free-kick from Evra when the Frenchman clatters into him from behind. The Spaniard likes it...
    • 65' Combative, committed stuff as Jones and Moses vie for the ball. It is Chelsea who win the throw but they fail to make anything of it.
    • 64' Stat from Infostrada: "Chelsea have failed to score in two PL away matches this season – at QPR and Manchester City."
    • 63' Van Persie makes a run in behind the defence but the long ball over the top doesn't drop for the Dutchman.
    • 61' The pace has dropped a bit in the past few minutes, but this remains a finely poised game that could yet go either way.
    • 60' Stat from Opta: "Sir Alex Ferguson’s side have lost more games (13) and conceded more goals (55) against Chelsea than versus any other side in the Premier League."
    • 58' Mata looks absolutely incredulous to be penalised for a trip on Rafael but Webb talks him down.
    • 57' Lampard, remember, is just one goal short of equalling Chelsea's all-time goalscoring record of 202 strikes for the Blues.
    • 56' Lampard has a sniff of a chance after Mata bounces the ball into his path but he gets his foot under it and sees his shot go over the bar.
    • 55' Evans is alert to deal with a swinging cross from Azpilicueta as he wraps his foot around the ball to clear.
    • 54' Stat from Infostrada: "No Manchester United player has scored a second half PL goal at Old Trafford since March 2."
    • 53' Vidic goes into the book for United before Evra makes an important interception in the box to prevent Ba from getting a shot away.
    • 52' From the throw, United surge forward on the counter and Jones tries to chip a cross to the back post for Van Persie, but over-eggs it. Not who you would want to be digging out a cross in such a scenario.
    • 51' Giggs brings down Luiz with a clumsy challenge right on the edge of the United box but the whistle doesn't go and in the end they only win a throw.
    • 50' Moses flashes a cross in from the Ba challenges with Evans at the near post, winning a corner even though he fails to get a shot away.
    • 49' Stat from Infostrada: "This is the fourth time in PL history this fixture at Old Trafford has been goalless at half time, and first since December 1995. United have failed to go on and win any of the previous three (1 defeat)."
    • 48' Valencia nips in to win possession ahead of Ashley Cole and after holding the left-back off during a driving run down the right channel he pops a pass to Van Persie, only for the striker to be caught offside.
    • 47' No changes from either side at the break. I wonder how long it will be until we see Vidic's one-time nemesis Fernando Torres on the pitch...
    • 46' KICK OFF!
    • - Got nothing to do at half-time? Want to come and say hello on Twitter? Go on then... Follow Tom Adams (@tomEurosport) on Twitter
    • 45+2' HALF TIME. Oscar hit the post but United finished the half strongly. Evenly poised at present.
    • 45+1' CHANCE FOR UNITED! Vidic, of all people, finds himself in possession on the left and dinks in a neat cross for Van Persie, who sees his header saved by Cech.
    • 45' CHANCE FOR UNITED! Now Van Persie turns supplier with a cross from the right and Giggs gets in front of his man to flick a volley off target with the outside of his boot.
    • 44' Oscar lines up a shot just outside the box and when Giggs opens his legs he rifles an effort through them that goes wide.
    • 43' CHANCE FOR UNITED! Giggs prises open the Chelsea defence with a lovely pass for Van Persie and after bisecting the centre-backs the striker tries to use the pace of the ball and manoeuvres it just wide of the post with his first touch.
    • 42' CHANCE FOR CHELSEA! David Luiz loves a shot from range and though he catches the ball nicely from 25 yards out he sees it soar off at a tangent and wide.
    • 41' Patrice Evra has done his hamstring by the looks of things. United play on and Jones has a cross claimed by Cech.
    • 41' United fans chant in support of Rio Ferdinand as John Terry comes out to warm-up for Chelsea, and why not.
    • 40' Moses is guilty of a handball as he attempts to knock the ball down to himself just outside the United box.
    • 39' Valencia gets a bit of space on the right and digs out a cross but he gets too much on the ball as it flies right across the box and out.
    • 38' Stat from Infostrada: "Manchester United have scored in each of their last 23 PL matches, and failed to score once in their last 34 before today – at Norwich."
    • 36' Mata takes aim from 20 yards this time but the Spaniard doesn't quite catch the ball as he would have wished and a bobbling effort takes a touch off Evans before finding the gloves of Lindegaard.
    • 35' Cleverley clatters into Mata in midfield and is given a stern telling off by referee Webb. He won't get away with another of those.
    • 34' Giggs with a low cross from the left and after Cech punches out at his near post, Cleverley catches the ball on the half-volley from 20 yards and belts it into the stands.
    • 33' Van Persie gets possession and runs at goal but after jinking away from Luiz he has a shot that is well blocked by the alert Azpilicueta. A follow-up cross from the Dutchman lacks direction.
    • 32' Stat from Opta: "Always assuming three points for a win, no team in English top-flight history has ever finished outside the top four having won 65 or more points after 34 games (as Chelsea do now)."
    • 30' Here comes Demba Ba on the left and he cuts onto his right boot before trying to bend the ball inside the far post. He doesn't get the necessary purchase on it though and his effort creeps wide.
    • 29' Moses looks disgusted to be denied a foul but referee Howard Webb plays on.
    • 28' Lampard pings in a trademark shot from range but Lindegaard gets his body behind the ball and saves with ease.
    • 26' Giggs almost picks out Van Persie with a sensational cross but Branislav Ivanovic gets his head to the ball to intervene.
    • 25' Good goalkeeping from Lindegaard as he comes to claim a cross with real authority.
    • 24' Stat from Opta: "After a run of 10 competitive games without a goal for Manchester United, Premier League top scorer Robin van Persie has netted six in his last four."
    • 23' Impressive so far from Chelsea, who have restricted United to only a handful of half-chances and have looked the more likely side. The match reflects the fact that a result is much more important for the visitors.
    • 22' Stat from Infostrada: "Manchester United have conceded only two first half goals in their last 11 PL matches."
    • 21' Ba heads down from Mata's corner but as Chelsea are crowded out, the ball is back to the Spaniard and Rafael heads his dinked cross behind. Lindegaard punches away the Lampard corner.
    • 20' Ba places Nemanja Vidic under pressure and forces him into an error that results in a corner for Chelsea...
    • 19' Now a dangerous cross comes in from United before Cleverley sees an effort blocked from the edge of the box. Chelsea under increasing pressure.
    • 18' Van Persie lashes one at goal but can't find a way past Cech.
    • 17' CHANCE FOR CHELSEA! The visitors pour forward in a sweeping passing move but when Mata lays the ball off to Moses on the edge of the box he chips a shot high, high over the bar.
    • 16' Evans appears to grab the jersey of Ba but no foul is given - much to the annoyance of Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez.
    • 15' Giggs is played in with a quick pass and takes a touch to control before bending a shot straight at Cech, who saves with ease.
    • 14' CHELSEA HIT THE WOODWORK! Oscar goes on a brilliant run before Lindegaard tips his shot against the post.
    • 12' Oscar loses possession with a loose touch in midfield but United fail to spring a break.
    • 11' Moses squares from the right but Ba fails to get the ball under his control as he spins with his back to goal.
    • 10' Giggs floats the ball wide to Valencia and he tries to take the cross first time on the volley, seeing his attempt off his right instep fly high into the stands.
    • 9' CHANCE FOR UNITED! Valencia's cross is chested into the path of Cleverley by Van Persie and the midfielder's first-time shot rolls wide from 20 yards.
    • 8' A United cross fizzes into the box but Petr Cech is down quickly to smother the ball.
    • 7' A promising start for Chelsea, then, at Old Trafford. Two decent openings in the first 10 minutes.
    • 6' David Luiz wins a free-kick in midfield and after Chelsea play the ball around, eventually Lindegaard comes and flaps at a cross, with Ba swinging and missing after bringing the ball down.
    • 5' Stat from Opta: "Manchester United are unbeaten in four Barclays Premier League meetings with Chelsea (W3 D1), their best run against them since December 1998 (five)."
    • 4' Mata was shaping for the shot and had the ball dropped 30cm lower then Ba would probably have tucked away the header.
    • 3' CHANCE FOR CHELSEA! Juan Mata and Victor Moses exchange passes on the edge of the box and the Spaniard floats a gorgeous ball across for Demba Ba, who just gets his head under the ball and sends it over.
    • 2' A promising move from the off from United as they switch the ball quickly on the right before Tom Cleverley just fails to get on the end of a cross from Antonio Valencia.
    • 1' KICK OFF! Man Utd attacking left to right...
    • 15:55 Right then, the players are in the tunnel at Old Trafford and we are nearly ready to go. United are champions but would love to get one over Chelsea, who are battling for a Champions League place.
    • 15:50 Rafael Benitez: "Now they realise how important every single game is. To get three points in every game will be massive because we are so close. We have to do our job and hopefully other teams will make mistakes."
    • 15:45 Sir Alex Ferguson: "Lampard has been unbelievable. I don't think a midfield player will be able to do that figure again. It's quite phenomenal. Like Bryan Robson, he has had a great knack of timing his runs into the box at the right time. John Wark was another one at Ipswich. The guy has had a great career. I must say we looked at him when he was at West Ham as a young player and I maybe regret not having done it."
    • 15:40 Chelsea currently find themselves in fourth place, two points behind Arsenal in third but with two games in hand on the north London club. Tottenham are level on points with Benitez's men, having played a game more. Premier League table
    • 15:35 Nine of Chelsea's starting XI were involved in Europa League action at some stage on Thursday night, but Rafael Benitez's side need to be at their best today as they continue to chase a top-four spot.
    • 15:30 Hazard is absent today for Chelsea after he picked up a knock on Thursday in the Blues' Europa League tie with FC Basel and he has not been risked today to face United.
    • 15:25 Today's referee is Howard Webb - yes, we know there are jokes, just don't post them. So United make five changes to their starting line-up, while Paul Scholes returns on the bench.
    • 15:20 The teams are in - Manchester United: Lindegaard; Rafael, Evans, Vidic, Evra; Jones, Anderson, Cleverley; Valencia, Giggs; Van Persie. Subs: De Gea, Buttner, Ferdinand, Scholes, Kagawa, Rooney, Chicharito. /// Chelsea: Cech; Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, David Luiz, Cole; Ramires, Lampard; Oscar, Mata, Moses; Ba. Subs: Turnbull, Ferreira, Cahill, Terry, Ake, Benayoun, Torres.
    • 15:15 Welcome to live text commentary of the Premier League clash between Manchester United and Chelsea at Old Trafford. The teams are coming right up...

  3. Even with almost their first team, they could not even draw with an extremely tired and exhausted Chelsea who the chelsea ladies side would have given a better game.On their own patch, apparent champions and with the so called best manager, this lot underachieved big time.if Chelsea were not in transition this season they would have won the prem with manure out of sight. The record points total is well out of manures ability and they could never get anywhere near Arsenals invincibles, but they reckon they are the best, one of shreks nannys smelly fannys could do better than this pile of cow manure.

  5. SUPERMAN Fergie was expecting another win at the Sacred Sanctum Old Trafford , even without the strongest possible team he put a team that he thought would not lose , and with Webb and his officials already primed to 'produce the right goods' , we were given a match of surprises , with Chelsea without Terry , Hazard , Torres in last 20 min.,etc Fergie cannot have fathomed what would happen , his team was disappointing and did not play the fast and furious end to end football , they looked disjointed and bemused by the controll that Chelsea showed , playing with precision and control at their pace , United could not compete at a different rhythm and chances came and went without a goal . Then , up comes the man-of-the -match Mata to show composure and resolution in finishing a move startd by Ramirez who dispossesed Rooney in his own half , then took it himself to the edge of United's penalty area and did not panic but back-heeled to Oscar who squared it to Mata , loose from Rafael's marking he diagnolly shot into the corner off Jones's leg to squeeze in just inside the post .....................1 - 0 to Chelsea the London Town visitors. THE BEST TEAM WON....................SORRY FERGIE AND THE CHAMPIONS.
