    • 90+5' Van Persie puts the ball in but Hart holds onto Evra's header and that's the last action of the game. City win the derby thanks to a stunner from Aguero. It won't have any impact on the title race, but it's something for City to enjoy.
    • 90+5' Another booking: this time for Valencia for going in hard on Barry.
    • 90+5' Another booking: this time for Valencia for going in hard on Barry.
    • 90+4' City seek to eat up time as Javi Garcia replaces Tevez.
    • 90+3' Aguero tries to break for City and Rafael takes the decision to cynically bring him to ground, earning the Brazilian a booking.
    • 90+3' United win a late corner but Jones can't get his header back into the danger zone.
    • 90+2' And Young is forced off to be replaced by Shinji Kagawa.
    • 90+2' Zabaleta is now cautioned for going in on Young from behind.
    • 90+1' Silva is injured and has to come off to be replaced by Joleon Lescott.
    • 90' Barry is into the book for his role in all that. Not sure why.
    • 89' It's all kicking off! Players pushing each other all over the place with Aguero and Ferdinand seemingly grappling for some reason.
    • 88' Silva is down and appears to want treatment for a leg injury.
    • 86' Rooney replaced by Javier Hernandez in attack. A very poor evening for Rooney.
    • 85' Now Tevez is involved in a flashpoint as he goes into the book for a late challenge on Jones.
    • 84' A flare-up between Zabaleta and Young sees the temperature raise ever so slightly.
    • 82' Giggs plays a square pass through the legs of Barry but Van Persie can't get the necessary contact on the ball to send it past Hart.
    • 81' Stat from Infostrada: "Sergio Aguero has scored in consecutive PL visits to Old Trafford."
    • 80' United make an immediate change as Antonio Valencia comes on for Welbeck.
    • 79' GOAL Man Utd 1-2 Man City! SENSATIONAL goal from Sergio Aguero as he beats three men to find the roof of the net! The striker holds off his opponents to rifle a shot past De Gea.
    • 77' CITY THREATEN! Toure has a shot blocked from close range in the box before some tasty challenges fly in, notably from Welbeck. This is boiling up nicely now.
    • 76' Young slips in Welbeck with a clever pass and the striker holds on under pressure before returning the favour, Young firing in a low effort that Hart clasps at his near post.
    • 75' The cameras pick out Michael Owen - who once scored the winner in a 4-3 derby triumph for United. Those days are long gone though, and he will be retiring at the end of the season.
    • 74' Van Persie puts the ball in from the right but Hart punches away. Rooney then takes up possession but sees his cross cleared.
    • 73' Nastasic and Barry both leap into Van Persie to give away a free-kick in the centre circle. United punt it into the right channel and eventually with a corner.
    • 72' And that's the last we will see of Nasri, who is replaced by Aguero.
    • 71' CHANCE FOR CITY! Silva plays a delightful ball over the top for Nasri but the Frenchman can't keep his volley down as he spins and lifts the ball high over the bar.
    • 70' Young pings in a cross from the left and Welbeck gets an early header away that almost catches out Hart. The keeper grabs onto the ball at the far post though.
    • 69' Hart is forced to race off his line to clear as Young threatens to get on the end of a loose ball. The keeper belts the ball away.
    • 68' Sergio Aguero is getting ready for City now.
    • 67' This is nicely poised for a big finale. Not that it will ultimately mean anything in the grand scheme of things of course, but there's nothing wrong with drama for drama's sake.
    • 66' Stat from Infostrada: "Vincent Kompany scored only the second ever own goal in this fixture in the PL era, and first at Old Trafford. The only other was Richard Dunne’s in City’s 2-0 home defeat in Feb 2005."
    • 64' Tevez gets a poor effort away from just outside the box and it takes a touch off the offside Silva before skewing harmlessly wide in any case.
    • 63' United fans reminding Mancini that "we'll be back in May, to take it away." That's the title they are talking about, and they will as well.
    • 61' Stat from Infostrada: "It is 42 years since the away team won both Manchester derbies in the same season – in 1970-71 when United won 4-3 at City, who won 4-1 at Old Trafford."
    • 60' De Gea drops a high ball under pressure from Zabaleta but wins the free-kick.
    • 59' Jones's effort looked to be heading wide so that is an own goal. All about the free-kick from Van Persie though. What a delivery.
    • 58' GOAL! Man Utd 1-1 Man City! Van Persie puts in a devilish free-kick and Jones rises near the back post to see his header bounce off the back of Kompany and nestle in the net.
    • 57' Neat work in midfield from Carrick and Rafael then takes the ball forward to win a free-kick in an advanced position.
    • 56' Rooney tries to chip a ball into the right channel for Welbeck but Clichy is alert to the danger and gets his head to the pass.
    • 55' Stat from Infostrada: "James Milner scored his fourth PL goal of the season – his most in a single season for City and most since seven for Aston Villa in 2009-10."
    • 54' United want a quick response but Van Persie can't quite control a dangerous ball over the top of the City defence.
    • 52' Very poor from Giggs - you expect him to have a bit more intelligence in such a situation.
    • 51' GOAL! Man Utd 0-1 Man City! Giggs gives the ball away with a poor attempt at a backheel and when City attack, Nasri lays the ball off to Milner on the edge of the box. His low drive takes a touch off Jones and nestles in the bottom corner.
    • 50' The ball had already gone a good two metres away from Welbeck as he went to ground. Not a penalty in my eyes.
    • 49' Welbeck touches the ball past Barry and Nastasic on the edge of the box and then runs into the chest of the former before going to ground. United want a penalty but Dean is having none of it.
    • 48' Van Persie is pushed wide to the right but the Dutchman still chips in a wicked cross that has Hart scrambling across his line.
    • 46' KICK OFF!
    • - The City players look annoyed with something as they come off at the break - possibly because Dean blew up with the visitors in an advanced position. What did you make of the first half? Let me know on Twitter. Tom Adams (tomEurosport) on Twitter
    • 45+1' HALF TIME. United closest to opening the scoring just seconds before the whistle blows, but it's a relatively even contest.
    • 45' UNITED HIT THE POST! Carrick chips in a pass for Van Persie and the striker's neat header finds Rafael. He tries to lift the ball over a City player and actually lofts into onto the woodwork, with Hart's gloves stretching just centimetres short. It would have been a lucky goal.
    • 44' Milner leaps above Evra to win the ball in the air but his arm catches the United man in the face and Evra needs a moment to shake it off.
    • 43' In comes the free-kick and the ball drops for Van Persie on the volley but he sends the ball high into the Manchester night air. Not a great shot, that.
    • 43' Kompany is furious at being booked for sliding in on Young but it was a bit of a messy tackle, even if the contact was minimal.
    • 42' Rafael looks absolutely amazed not to win a corner when being challenged by Clichy at the corner flag but replays show it was the correct decision.
    • 41' Inventive from Tevez as he hooks the ball over his head with his back to goal but he can't find Silva in the box.
    • 40' Giggs catches Kompany late but it's just a talking too from referee Mike Dean.
    • 39' Yaya Toure has been strangely poor so far tonight. Not one of his vintage performances, it must be said.
    • 38' In comes the corner but Evra can't keep his header down at the back post.
    • 37' Plenty of pressure from City but United have been snappy in the tackle and are dangerous on the break. Young takes the ball forward and sees a low cross turned behind by Nastasic.
    • 36' Stat from Infostrada: "Manchester City have failed to score only twice in their last 11 PL visits to Old Trafford."
    • 34' Rooney looks to have got in behind with Van Persie moving into space in the centre of the box but the England international is caught offside.
    • 33' Now it's Rooney's turn to go into the book as he goes in almost two-footed on Milner. It wasn't quite blatant enough or dangerous enough to earn a red, but it wasn't a million miles away.
    • 32' The set-piece is wasted, the ball eventually finding Young who tries and fails to bend one into the top corner from 20 yards out. Not even close.
    • 31' The delivery is a dangerous one and Zabaleta gets his feet in a tangle at the back post when somehow putting the ball behind for a corner.
    • 30' Good persistence from Van Persie as he wins a free-kick from Nastasic near the touchline. Van Persie to take...
    • 29' Yup, it was a handball and Silva rightly goes into the book. Not that he agrees, of course. They never do, do they?
    • 28' A neatly constructed move from City ends with Zabaleta putting a cross into the box for Silva, but the midfielder appears to handball as Ferdinand comes to head away.
    • 27' City get another shot away. Milner swaps passes with Silva 20 yards from goal and takes aim with an average shot that evades the United shirts in attendance but bounces harmlessly into De Gea's arms.
    • 26' CHANCE FOR CITY! Silva attempts to chip the ball across the box but it deflects off Giggs to land at the feet of Nasri. He delays to try and find space but snatches at his shot, which flies well wide.
    • 25' Ooh, unlucky for Barry. The midfielder spots Pablo Zabaleta making a run into the box but sees his clever pass cut out by the United defence.
    • 24' Gorgeous backheel from Van Persie as United attack down the right but the foray comes to nothing ultimately.
    • 23' Carrick attempts a rather risky cross-field pass but Evra just nips in ahead of Milner to get possession. Not often you see Carrick give the ball away.
    • 22' Now United take the ball forward and Van Persie receives it square from Welbeck before seeing a firm effort deflect up off Kompany and high into the air.
    • 21' CHANCE FOR CITY! Silva gets away from Ferdinand at the back post and plays in a cross for Tevez, who charges onto the ball but is denied by a fine piece of work from Jones.
    • 20' Milner stands up a deep cross to the back post and Nasri rises above Rafael to try and get a header on target.
    • 19' City have acquitted themselves rather well so far. United have had a couple of half chances but nothing more, while the visitors have been enterprising, with Tevez lively enough.
    • 18' Stat from Opta: "Robin van Persie has gone nine successive appearances without a goal in all competitions; this despite attempting 24 shots a goal within his 549 minutes on this pitch during this run."
    • 17' Barry with a cross from the left and Milner heads the ball down to Tevez, who tries to turn and get a shot away but gets in a tangle and wins a corner from Ferdinand.
    • 16' Here comes Rafael but the dashing right-back is halted by the intervention on Kompany, who robs him of the ball and sends him bouncing to the turf with a robust chest-bump.
    • 15' Phil Jones plays a quick first-time pass in for Rooney and the striker then touches it on instinctively to Giggs, who is eight yards from goal. However, the pass has just too much on it and runs away from the Welshman.

    • 13' Silva is tasked with putting the ball in the box but his high, looping delivery drops out of the air and into the grateful hands of De Gea. A waste.
    • 12' City win a free-kick when Evra steams into the back of Nasri and brings him to ground with a clumsy challenge.
    • 11' Patrice Evra and Ashley Young try to combine down the left with some neat passing but it doesn't quite come off.
    • 10' United have their first corner of the afternoon but the delivery by Ryan Giggs is headed away.
    • 9' UNITED GO CLOSE! Rooney plays in Van Persie to the left of the box and the striker allows the ball to run across his body before stroking a shot back across goal and just wide of the far post.
    • 8' Fine stuff from both sides so far. United and City both full of endeavour and spirit.
    • 7' Stat from Opta: "Sir Alex Ferguson’s side have won each of their last seven Premier League games and are unbeaten in 18 (D2). Both are Premier League bests for this season."
    • 6' United chip a pass into Van Persie on the edge of the box and after chesting it down he is bundled over by the muscular Gareth Barry. The Dutchman wants a foul but Barry carries the ball away.
    • 5' An enthusiastic start from both sides exemplified when Gael Clichy spots a bit of space ahead of him, charges forward and lets fly with a wild effort that skews well wide.
    • 4' Now Silva feeds Milner to the right in a breathless encounter and the England midfielder's cross is punched away by David De Gea.
    • 4' City's corner is cleared and Welbeck leads a quick break after a clever flick from Ashley Young. City close ranks though and stop United.
    • 3' Now City come forward and after Carlos Tevez fails to get a clean shot away, City work the ball to James Milner on the left. David Silva meets his low cross with a flick at the near post but it deflects behind.
    • 2' A lusty start to proceedings in the derby and it is United who have the first chance, Danny Welbeck directing a low header at goal from a Robin van Persie cross. Joe Hart saves easily though.
    • 1' KICK OFF! United decked out in red, City in blue. Old Trafford erupting with noise.
    • 19:55 The two teams are in the tunnel and Old Trafford sounds pretty loud, as you would expect. Robin van Persie and Samir Nasri share a tender moment.

    • 19:45 Roberto Mancini, meanwhile, says United have had it easy this season as teams haven't been trying to beat them often enough. He blames poor signings for his team's own failings. Mancini: Too many teams play 'soft' against United
    • 19:40 The title may be heading back to the Red half of Manchester but United won't be coasting towards the season's end. They will still want to rack up the biggest points tally in Premier League history: the 95 won by Chelsea in 2004/05. Ferguson pre-match quotes.
    • 19:35 You may have missed it earlier, but United today announced that Aon will be sponsoring their Carrington training ground to the tune of £150m. Play our game, how many of Manchester United’s 33 sponsors can you name?
    • 19:30 Wayne Rooney makes his return from injury against the side he once attempted to join as United make five changes from the side that lost to Chelsea in the FA Cup quarter-final on Monday. Rafael, Ashley Young, Ryan Giggs and Robin van Persie also come in. There's a surprise in the City side with both Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko left on the bench for the visit to United. Dzeko is replaced by James Milner while Matija Nastasic comes in for Joleon Lescott.
    • 19:25 TEAMS: Manchester United: De Gea; Rafael, Ferdinand, Jones, Evra; Young, Carrick, Giggs, Welbeck; Rooney, Van Persie. Subs: Lindegaard, Buttner, Valencia, Nani, Cleverley, Kagawa, Hernandez. /// Manchester City: Hart; Zabaleta, Kompany, Nastasic, Clichy; Y Toure, Barry; Milner, Silva, Nasri; Tevez. Subs: Pantillimon, Lescott, Kolarov, K Toure, Garcia, Dzeko, Aguero.
    • 19:20 Okay, I'll admit we could have a bit more suspense around the occasion. If United lose at home tonight then their lead gets cut to 12 points: the title is done as a going concern, this is all about pride now as two of the country's biggest teams duke it out at Old Trafford.
