    • - City won 3-0 so it is as you were at the top. Premier League table
    • 90+2' All over - United win 4-0.
    • 90' Two minutes to be added on.
    • 88' GOAL FOR MANCHESTER UNITED! 4-0! Beausejour and Boyce run into one another and Welbeck pounces on to the loose ball on the right inside the box to cross for Van Persie, who finishes easily.
    • 87' Figueroa thinks "sod it, I'm having a shot" - and he would have been better off not thinking that as it flies well over.
    • 86' Last change for Wigan: Callum McManaman on for Maloney.
    • 85' A shout for a penalty for handball against Evans which Marriner is not interested in. His arms were by his sides.
    • 84' Beausejour lifts a cross from the left to the far post but Evra is there to nod behind.
    • 83' Gomez whips the set-piece over the wall and just wide! It clips the near post with De Gea beaten.
    • 82' Smalling pushes over Kone as he looks to break through and picks up a yellow card.
    • 81' Evra weaves his way to the left byline and crosses low but Wigan hack the ball away.
    • 79' Welbeck wants a free-kick after hitting the deck under a challenge, but Marriner waves away his appeals.
    • 78' United change: striker Danny Welbeck on for winger Young.
    • 78' At the other end, Gomez has space just outside the box to pick out a pass or shot but drags his effort horribly wide.
    • 77' Figueroa with a chest down to Al-Habsi to avert danger to the Wigan goal following a cross.
    • 75' However a penalty has also just put Man City three up - United's goal difference is three better than City's, but should their "noisy neighbours" make up the seven-point difference, they would likely be better off in that department. Fergie will want more goals...
    • 74' Stam looks to attack down the right for Wigan but Giggs executes a perfect slide tackle. United have taken their foot off the gas, the job done.
    • 73' Stam with a long-range strike that United keeper David De Gea, barely used today, beats away.
    • 72' Via Infostrada: Hernandez is now on 2 goals and 1 assist today, like Rooney did twice this season vs Stoke and at Reading. Robin van Persie is the only Man United player to score a PL hat-trick this season (3 goals at Southampton). Utd have scored 25 goals in their 11 PL away matches so far this season. They have achieved that once before: in 2001/2002.
    • 71' Stam gives the ball away and James McArthur commits a foul inside the Wigan half.
    • 69' Change for both sides: Shinji Kagawa and Chris Smalling on for Carrick and Ferdinand for United; Ronnie Stam and Jordi Gomez on for Caldwell and Di Santo for Wigan.
    • 67' Van Persie fights Figueroa for the ball then sidesteps Caldwell before cutting inside to arrow a shot just over. What a goal that would have been.
    • 66' Probing play from United outside the home box involving almost their entire midfield and attack as well as their full-backs. Hernandez ruins it by straying offside - but he will be more than forgiven after his brace.
    • 64' No problems for United today then, barring a comeback of sensational proportions...
    • 63' GOAL FOR MANCHESTER UNITED! 3-0! Van Persie's free-kick is into the wall - after touching it to Young, who set it up for a better angle - and the ball drops for Hernandez to instinctively smash a strike under Al-Habsi from 15 yards.
    • 62' Better from Wigan, keeping the ball. But Rafael wins it and leads the counter. He finds Hernandez who is clattered by home captain Gary Caldwell. Yellow card.
    • 60' Young bends in a cross from the right and Hernandez gets to it ahead of Al-Habsi, but the ball drops on top of the net. He connected with it during some sort of spin...
    • 59' Di Santo centres low for Kone to finish at the far post for Wigan - but the flag is up to rule it out! Replays seem to suggest that he was just onside, but it was mighty close.
    • 59' Man City are two up against Stoke. Follow the latest action from around the grounds via our official Twitter feed. EurosportCom_EN on Twitter
    • 58' Cleverley gives away the ball and Di Santo takes it over halfway. He has three United players in front of him and does well to earn a free-kick out of Michael Carrick.
    • 56' Hernandez drops deep to pick up the ball and blaze well over from 30 yards.
    • 55' In fact it is easy for United at the minute. Giggs puts United lead in perspective
    • 54' United, however, are controlling the action. Wigan cannot get out of their half.
    • 53' With the light failing, the glow of the floodlights illuminates the action and the atmosphere builds. If Wigan were to score, it would really get going.
    • 51' RVP plays a ball to the right for Hernandez to race on to. It is slightly overhit and his shot is from an angle - wide of the near post.
    • 50' Hernandez applying pressure to force Figueroa to clear into touch. /// @Hilman_Hzm: "The game is set for a 5-0 win for man utd. Evans, Hernandez and Rvp to score in the 2nd half."
    • 49' Rafael unable to keep the ball in near the right-hand corner flag as he attacks.
    • 47' Via Infostrada: Manchester United have now scored 20 PL goals at the DW Stadium, more than any other away team at the stadium.
    • 46' The second half underway, with Wigan now kicking from right to left as they look to get back into this match.

    • 45+2' Half-time - 2-0 to United, who have now led in 11 of their 21 PL matches this season, most of all teams this season. They have won all of their 10 previous matches this season in which they were leading at half-time.
    • 45+1' Via Infostrada: Van Persie has now scored five goals in his last five PL matches against Wigan in total, including a hat-trick for Arsenal in a 3-0 win over Wigan at the Emirates Stadium in January 2011. It is his 8th away goal this season, equalling Luis Suarez (Liverpool) on most away goals.
    • 45' One minute to be added on. Man City have taken the lead at home to Stoke. Manchester City v Stoke City Live
    • 44' Hernandez did brilliantly to win the ball inside the Wigan half and charge forward to lead that attack. He is in behind here and sticks the ball away, but the flag was already up. He just needs to hold his runs more.
    • 43' GOAL FOR MANCHESTER UNITED! 2-0! Van Persie with a sublime finish inside the far post with his right foot! Ivan Ramis, part of the back three, fell but got back to his feet. RVP came inside and picked his spot.
    • 41' Should United look to dictate these games more, or do their weapons mean sitting back and waiting for their moment is the best option? Tweet me @symco_eurosport
    • 40' Follow the latest action from around the grounds via our official Twitter feed. EurosportCom_EN on Twitter
    • 39' Boyce has room to cross from the right and his curled ball looks destined to give Di Santo a free header at the far post before Ferdinand cranes his long neck and flicks a header away.
    • 38' Wigan now attacking for the first time in several minutes after United sparked into life.
    • 37' Giggs wrestles his way to the byline and crosses over Hernandez for Van Persie, but Figueroa flies back to head behind.
    • 36' Cleverley played the ball into the box for Evra, whose first touch was a mis-kick. The ball stayed close to him though and he dug out the shot. Well done Rafael at the start of the move, who flew over to dive and chest the ball to a team-mate to win the ball for United.
    • 35' GOAL FOR MANCHESTER UNITED! 1-0! Hernandez sticks it away from close range on the rebound after Patrice Evra's shot to the near post was parried by Al-Habsi!
    • 34' The shot took a deflection in fact. Wigan block Cleverley's shot from the resultant corner and moments later United win another.
    • 33' Rafael tries his luck from 30 yards out on the right, the ball dipping wickedly in front of Al-Habsi... he gets down to parry and Wigan clear.
    • 31' The game has come to life in terms of chances, with United finally getting into gear.
    • 30' Young fouled - apparently - by Figueroa on the right. Van Persie whips in the free-kick which Al-Habsi gets down to parry and the ball is loose... just put behind for a corner before Giggs can stick away the rebound!
    • 29' The corner is headed away and Giggs is then caught in possession by Kone, who races over halfway and bears down on goal. Evans just manages to block tackle him and United survive.
    • 28' Tom Cleverley brings the ball under control in the Wigan box and feeds out to Giggs on the left. His low cross is extremely dangerous and Maynor Figueroa slides to put it out for a corner just before Hernandez can finish.
    • 27' Wigan have had 60 per cent of the possession so far.
    • 26' Counter from United. Rafael goes too early but Hernandez keeps possession rather than falling into the trap of the ball over the top.
    • 25' It's been quite poor from the Red Devils so far. Wigan are getting their foot on the ball. Counter-attacking is fine, but United should be dictating more of the play.
    • 23' Another battle between Young and Beausejour, this time at the other end, ends in referee Andre Marriner awarding a goal-kick to United.
    • 22' Young tries to go down the outside of Beausejour and into the box. The Wigan left wing-back holds him off and down goes Young in the box - nothing given, to the England man's chagrin. The offence took place outside the box - definitely a free-kick.
    • 21' James McCarthy, holding the home midfield together, gives the ball to Maloney and makes a run behind but Wigan opt to keep the ball. Ashley Young, quiet so far, wins it back for United.
    • 20 Right wing-back Boyce loses possession as he comes inside but Wigan win it back. Di Santo clips towards Kone and Ferdinand heads away, where Beausejour arrives to blast high and wide.
    • 18' Ferguson has stated there is no likelihood of an imminent managerial vacancy at Manchester United, with Pep Guardiola due to end his post-Barcelona sabbatical next summer, Jose Mourinho tipped to leave Real Madrid and David Moyes' Everton contract ready to expire. Fergie dismisses retirement talk
    • 17' Rafael with a turn of pace from right-back to accelerate into space and lift a ball over the top for Hernandez to chase - it is woefully overhit though and he has no chance of getting to it.
    • 15' Poor ball from Beausejour as the sprightly Maloney looks to angle a run down the channel but Ferdinand can only thump out of play.
    • 14' Man Utd have 15 different goalscorers in the PL this season, their most ever before the turn of the year. Their record in an entire PL season is 17, set in 2009/2010 and 2006/2007. Of their players in today's starting line-up Ferdinand, Giggs, Michael Carrick and Ashley Young are yet to score this season.
    • 13' Wigan playing some decent stuff but you get the feeling that United are just biding their time and content to hit on the break.
    • 12' Giggs with a long ball over the top and into the centre of the area for Hernandez to bring down and smash home, but he was a yard offside.
    • 11' United send one into the box through Michael Carrick but Wigan clear.
    • 10' Jean Beausejour on the left flank plays a low ball across the face of the box, but Kone's touch through finds no one.
    • 9' Wigan seeing most of the ball in the United half without really threatening. Still on a high from that 3-0 win at Villa.
    • 8' Via Infostrada: Ferdinand and Ryan Giggs break the record for most PL matches on January 1st, making their 8th appearance on New Year's Day. Robbie Fowler, Andy Cole, David James and Phil Neville are all on 7 EPL matches on January 1st.
    • 7' United have scored 19 goals in the opening 30 minutes of games this season, only three fewer than Wigan have managed in total.
    • 6' Franco Di Santo breaks free on the left touchline. His low cross is cleared by Evans with Kone hovering.
    • 5' Kone free inside the box on the left but he went just too early.
    • 5' Fabulous ball dug out over the top by Robin van Persie for Hernandez to race on to on the right: he volleys but Ali Al-Habsi makes the save at his near post.
    • 4' Jonny Evans in hard on Shaun Maloney and Wigan will have a feee-kick in United's half. Fast, disjointed start to the game.
    • 3' Javier Hernandez strays offside as he looks to get in behind on the right.
    • 2' Rio Ferdinand penalised for a foul on Arouna Kone. He was holding him back near halfway.
    • 1' Off we go, with Manchester United kicking from right to left in the first half.

    • 14:57 Sir Alex Ferguson: "It is important that we do not sit at the top of the table admiring our position. We would soon get a rude awakening. Congratulating ourselves on our Premier League lead doesn't mean a thing to me, it's winning the next game that counts."
    • 14:55 Roberto Martinez: "Shaun Maloney is one of the most gifted players you can see in this league. He has a good eye for a pass but other than that he has moved to a different level. I hope he gets a lot of recognition as he deserves all the credit. Maloney is a fine professional and a massive asset to Wigan."
    • 14:50 United’s total of 50 goals from 20 games is the fourth highest at this stage of a Premier League season. Man City last season hold the record with 56. League table

Midfielders Ben Watson (broken leg), Albert Crusat (knee) and Ryo Miyaichi (ankle) and defender Adrian Lopez (hamstring) remain out. Highlights: Aston Villa 0 Wigan 3
    • 14:30 Robin van Persie is back as one of five changes for United, with Javier Hernandez also recalled to the attack. Rafael returns after four matches out with a hamstring injury while veterans Ryan Giggs and Rio Ferdinand also start. 1. Man utd Forever in scousers shadow, 113.lOOKING FORWARD TO BEATING UTD ON THEIR OWN PATCH LMAO what like you did at shamefield you #$%$ Liverpoo are finnished dead in the water and you will be fighting relegation in the coming years.

  2. Mr Alvin Koo, i agree 100% with you that Michael Carrick is the most under rated player ever. You can see the difference in the United midfield after he was taken off around the 70 minutes mark. Wigan started to dominate. Well, that makes 2 off us, and i am sure there are more that thinks the way we do. It cannot be that all of us are blind, so it must be Eurosports that does not understand football. He is not only under rated in this game, but many games before this. Get Lampard and Ashley Cole on a free? Erm...... Seems like a good investment. Get Sneijder for 8 million? Well, cheap though, so get him! but his salary is a pain though. Unfortunately, we cannot keep Anderson fit. Fletcher is not used often. Powell is still young. Scholes is too slow now. Only Carrick and Cleverley? Is it enough? Well, at least we are better than City still, because we are 7 points clear.

  3. Who's the so called experts doing the players ratings? Carrick is the most under rated tonite, he's breaking up n starting attacks. Impeccable distribution with his laser guided passes, before he was rested when the points r secured. N u gave him a 5 rating?? Eurosport., its either u dunno football or I'm blind.
