    • All square after a brilliant game at the DW. Southampton perhaps deserved all the points but credit to Wigan for sticking to a difficult task.
    • 90+3 Wigan press forward through the substitute Henriquez but they can't get through.
    • 90+1 Southampton waste a free kick and Wigan pour forward for the winner.
    • 90' Wigan make their final change Henriquez comes on.
    • 89' Somehow Wigan equalise. The corner goes high and loopy but Scharner wins the header and finds Maloney on his own at the far post. The Scot sweeps the ball homs easily and it is 2-2. how Wigan have done this is beyond me.
    • 88' Southampton are dropping deep here. Dangerous game to play so late in the game.
    • 87' Wigan are pumping the ball long to get this equaliser. Nothing doing so far.
    • 85' WHAT A GOAL. Absolutely lightning break from Southampton as Ward-Prowse broke from the penalty area. He runs the ball down the left wing before laying in Rodriguez on the wing. He waltzs past Mcmanaman and crosses into the six-yard box and finds Schneiderlin who make sup for his earlier miss by sweeping the ball home. Fantastic goal.
    • 84' Wigan win a corner through Scharner. Gomez to take but it is cleared and goes out again for a corner.
    • 83' Wigan are working hard to keep Saints out but their opponents are working harder. They just always seem to emerge with the ball. Di Santo with the ball on the right wing.
    • 82' A lull in a very fast-paced game. Wigan and myself, are glad for the breather.
    • 81' Southampton with their final change as Puncheon comes off for teenager Ward-Prowse.
    • 80' Wigan are barely getting out of their half but on this occasion Di Santo manages to get down the left. The left footed cross is excellent and Shaw just gets to it ahead of Gomez.
    • 79' Southampton with a controlled attack through Jack Cork. He crosses from the right but the ball is blocked. Saints still have it though. Lots of possession.
    • 78' Game has finally calmed down again. Lots of scrappy play in the middle of the park.
    • 77' Great pass from Yoshida to Lambert on the penalty box. He loses it and again, as Wigan try to break, Southampton close down well. Shaw fouls on the half-way line though.
    • 76' Southampton continue to attack as Wigan just can't find a way out. Rodriguez shoots from distance but his pea-roller of a shot trickles wide.
    • 75' Wigan need to change something again. Mcmanaman comes on for Espinoza to try and get some sort of control in this match for Wigan.
    • 74' Wigan finally put an attack together but the one-two between Beausejour and Maloney comes to nothing. Southampton pour forward again and Puncheon volleys first time over the bar.
    • 73' Another chance as Luke Shaw crosses deep to Lambert who sets himself for a volley at the far post but it flashes across the face of goal and for a goal kick.
    • 72' Lallana hits the post as Wigan fail to clear from the corner. The ball drops to the midfielder in the penalty area and his low drive beats AL Habsi at his near post but hits the woodwork and bounces clear. Wigan are really hanging on here.
    • 71' Jason Puncheon uses his skill and trickery to get past Figueroa in the box but his cross is blocked for a corner. Great game this.
    • 70' Game starting to get a bit scrappy as neither team is able to get a foot on the ball. Players running on adrenaline rather than any sort of tactical plan at the moment.
    • 69' End to end stuff now as Wigan break down the other end and almost win a corner but Southampton defenders just manage to get the ball away.
    • 68' Southampton break after Wigan pressure and the cross find Lambert in the middle. He heads against the Wigan defender and at the second attempt blasts into the stomach of McCarthur. good defending.
    • 66' Set piece to Wigan wide right with Gomez standing over it to whip it in left footed. His cross is met by the first man and cleared.
    • 65' Wigan spring to life through McCarthy. He breaks and gives the ball to Maloney on the left wing who crosses but Southampton stick out a leg and clear. It's like a different team has appeared after the goal.
    • 64' Completely deserved and it was definitely coming. Southampton pass the ball for a long time before Cork floats the ball into the box. Rodriguez wins the first header and the 50-50 in the six-yard box between Lambert and the 'keeper is won by Lambert and he nods in with ease. Deserved equaliser.
    • 63' Wigan are just giving the ball to Southampton. They've abandoned passing and are just hitting the ball long. It is wave after wave of Southampton attack now.
    • 62' The ball is predictably back with Southampton as they look for this equaliser. Wigan are defending well and look in good shape. It's going to take something special from a Saints player to break this team down.
    • 61' Di Santo provides some restbite for Wigan as he breaks on the left wing. He tries to get a cross in but he scuffs the ball and it flies out for a goal kick.
    • 60' Change for Southampton as club captain Adam Lallana comes on to replace Clyne.
    • 59' Cork spreads a wonderful pass to Lambert on the rigth side of the penalty area who absolutely skins Figueroa. His cross finds Schneiderlin in the six yard area with the goal gaping but the midfielder scuffs it and Wigan clear. It was easier to score.
    • 58' Martinez has shuffled his pack following Southampton's fast start to this second half. He needs to stem the tide somehow and seems to have asked Scharner to move in to right-back.
    • 57' First change for Wigan as Gomez comes on for Stam who has had a quiet game.
    • 56' Wigan are being played at their own game here. So much good football from Southampton but no way through yet.
    • 55' Southampton piling more pressure on as the game opens up. Cork finds loads of space on the right and crosses deep. Al Habsi can only paw the ball away for a corner.
    • 54' Stam robs Cork of the ball and crosses for Di Santo but it falls just behind the striker and Southampton attack through Clyne.
    • 53' Jack Cork receives a yellow card for a late tackle on Espinoza as the Wigan midfielder tried to break.
    • 52' Wigan are trying to play their football but it is just not coming off. Di Santo miscontrols and Cork is on him in a flash and wins a free kick.
    • 51' The cross was too deep. A wasted opportunity and Figueroa listens to Al Habsi and they just watch it go out for a goal kick.
    • 50' More Southampton pressure. They win a free-kick about 40 yards out but wide on the left. Schneiderlin to take.
    • 49' Jack Cork crosses from the right and just as it looks like the ball will reach Lambert with a free header, Scharner reaches up and heads the ball away. Great header.
    • 48' Half time substitution as Davis comes on for Ramirez. Looks like that injury in the first half was more than just impact.
    • 47' Much the same as the first half as Saints start on the front foot.
    • 46' Southampton kick-off the second half and will need to come from behind to get anything from this game. Wigan will have to improve if they're to keep this Saints side out.
    • Southampton have dominated the play but not found any joy. Pochettino will have earmarked this game as potentially his first three points as Saints manager but how can he change things to turn the result around? Tweet me @G_Pavlou
    • And that is half-time. It's been frantic and frenetic at times with Southampton dominating most of the play but it is Wigan who go in 1-0 up.
    • 45+2 Another chance as Lambert floats a great cross to Rodriguez at the far post. The young striker gets up and heads across goal but as his cross was about to drop to Ramirez, Caldwell steps across first and clears.
    • 45+1 Jay Rodriguez finds loads of space wide on the six yard box. He doesn't look up as he crosses first time and only finds Caldwell who clears. Southampton finishing strong here.
    • 45' Wigan clearly happy to see their lead preserved through to half time. They're hitting the ball long at every opportunity. Di Santo working hard to stop the flow but there is only so much one man can do.
    • 44' Southampton again with the ball passing left and right but Wigan's shape is good and they can't find a way through.
    • 43' A scrappy series of tackles and headers in the Wigan half ends up with the ball at Rodriguez' feet. He drives into the box but Figueroa tackles him and the ball is cleared.
    • 42' Ramirez down with an injury after a 50-50 in the air with Espinoza. Didn't look malicious and replays show it wasn't. Just an impact injury.
    • 41' A long pass finds Di Santo but he can't hold the ball up well enough and Southampton pour forward again through Shaw down the left. He crosses and finds Lambert but his shot is blocked. It falls to him again but Caldwell throws himself at the ball again.
    • 39' Puncheon finds space in the middle and drives forward through the centre. His pass is heavyas he tries to find Rodrigue in behind Scharner. From there Maloney gets the ball on the left wing and turns Yoshida inside out before letting fly from the edge of the area. His effort curls harmlessly wide though.
    • 38' Clyne drives down the line and wins a corner off McCarthy. The corner is a good one and Hooiveld glances it to the far post but the header just started to curl away and it goes wide. I think the man on the line might have had it covered anyway but a good effort.
    • 37' Wonderful football from Saints again as they free Clyne on the right. he slips the ball down a channel to Ramirez. His right footed cross is blocked and as Lambert attempts to mop up, his poor touch sees the ball go out for a goal kick.
    • 36' The goal kick goes short to Caldwell but as the goalscorer pleads for a pass, he is closed down again. Luckily for him the deflection goes straight through to Al Habsi.
    • 35' Game finally quiets down again as Wigan do well to defend again from some sustained Saints pressure. Espinoza ushers the ball out as Ramirez tries to get a cross in.
    • 34' Southampton clear the corner as they try and find Caldwell again. Figueroa plays an unbelievable pass 60 yards across the pitch but Beausejour is offside.
    • 33' Beausejour instantly involved again and frees Maloney on the left wing. He drives into the penalty area and does a trick to get past Yoshida. He tries to cross but Boruc sticks a leg out and it goes out for a corner.
    • 32' The ball finds the feet of Beausejour on the touchline and Rodriguez slides in. It would seem the Wigan man nicked the ball away first and it goes down as a yellow card to the Southampton man. On replay, the follow through didn't look nice for the Chilean. Deserved yellow.
    • 31' Wigan again trying to pass the ball about but Southampton pressing is excellent and a long ball sees the Saints win the ball back.
    • 30' Southampton sensing blood here and pressuring the ball well. Beausejour loses the ball in the middle of the park and it drops to Puncheon. He takes a shot from about 30 yards out but it is scuffed and goes wide.
    • 29' Wigan starting to pop the ball about with ease. Some good football ends up nowhere though and Lambert breaks but again it comes to nothing.
    • 28' Wigan slow the game down well and enjoy some possession and a free-kick in the middle of the pitch.
    • 27' Wigan break brilliantly from the corner and end up again in the far corner of the pitch in a matter of seconds. Wigan throw on the left off Yoshida.
    • 26' McCarthur tries to clear on the edge of his area but Schneiderlin closes down and the ricochet almost ends up in the top corner but Al Habsi makes a superb save to tip it over.
    • 25' Beausejour swings in the corner and somehow Gary Caldwell finds himself with acres of space on the penalty spot. He gets excellent power from a standing header into the bottom left corner. Boruc has no chance. Great header.
    • 24' Wigan break with Espinoza and then Maloney. He has the ball on the left and wins a throw from Clyne in the far corner of the pitch. From the throw Espinoza wins his side a corner.
    • 23' Luke Shaw does well to break down the left but his pass to the touchline to Puncheon is short and Scharner gets back to defend easily. Saints still with the ball and as they try a through pass to Shaw, the ball runs out for a goal-kick.
    • 22' Sloppy from Clyne as he receives the ball back from a throw but miscontrols to give the ball back to Wigan. They try and slow the game down but Saints have players swarming the ball quickly.
    • 21' Southampton definitely settled now. Possession is good and Lambert is at the centre of it all. Some great hold up and link up play from the big striker but no way through Wigan just yet.
    • 20' Di Santo is fuming after Marriner gives a soft-free kick when Yoshida spends too long on the ball. It looked like some fair pressure but not according to the ref.
    • 19' Lambert is holding the ball up well but the support play is slightly lacking. Probably wary of Wigan's threat on the counter.
    • 18' The game takes a quick breather after chances at either end. Wigan with the ball in midfield.
    • 17' Clyne is sold short and Espinoza nicks the ball to Maloney who takes on two Southampton defenders but is forced wider and wider and as he tries to get his cross in, runs the ball out of play.
    • 16' Brilliant pass by Lambert from the left wing. He crosses the ball to the penalty spot and finds Ramirez breaking through the middle. He is completely on his own but his first-time side-footed effort goes miles over the bar. Wigan defenders looking for offside but he was well on. Great chance.
    • 15' Puncheon crosses from deep and as his cross floats to the far post, Al Habsi comes dashing out a long way from goal and, slightly unconventionally, catches the ball and stops the ball getting to Lambert.
    • 14' Wigan starting to settle into the game as Southampton can't keep up the high intensity of the first few minutes.
    • 13' Fantastic football from Wigan and Beausejour is found on the left wing. He sees Di Santo make a dash into the box and his low whipped cross finds the Argentine. His touch takes the ball to the bottom corner of the goal but Boruc sticks out a paw and manages to turn the ball away. Great save.
    • 12' The first long ball of the game and Figueroa controls it easily. He is closed down by Puncheon but it goes out for a goal kick.
    • 11' A little over-eagerness from Clyne sees Maloney win a free-kick off him inside the Saints half. It is predictably played short. A quick one-two with Espinoza sees Maloney released down the line but his cross is easily caught by Boruc.
    • 10' Southampton are pressing really high and not letting Wigan settle at all.
    • 9' McCarthur is robbed of the ball in the centre of the pitch and Southampton break. The ball is switched to Shaw but Wigan refind their shape. The cross is squng in but Lambert's header at the far post, trying to find a teammate, falls kindly to Al Habsi.
    • 8' Fantastic cross-field pass from Lambert finds Puncheon who cuts inside Espinoza but his cross is over-hit and it goes out tamely for a goal kick at the far-post.
    • 7' Maloney takes the corner but it is short and Rodriguez clears at the near post but only for another corner. Shaw clears again though.
    • 6' Bit of a scrappy start from both sides. Both enjoying the ball but no pace or precision in the play just yet. Wigan get a corner after Stam bursts forward from the right but his cross is blocked. The centre backs are up.
    • 5' Wigan waste the free-kick trying to playthe ball square and give away a throw to Southampton in their half. The Saints, predictably pass the ball around the midfield and the ball ends up with Clyne at right-back.
    • 4' Wigan put together some passes now but Stam loses the ball trying to dribble inside. Southampton try to counter but Figueroa steps in and the ball is in midfield with Wigan.
    • 3' Both teams playing in a very continental style. I don't think the ball has left the ground. Southampton with the ball though and they put together a move which ends up with Schneiderlin taking a speculative shot from the edge of the area but the ball goes over the bar.
    • 2' Southampton settle the better of the teams as Ramirez and Lambert link up to get the Uruguayian into the penalty area but his cut back only finds Caldwell.
    • 1' Referee Andre Marriner gets the game underway. Wigan kick us off shooting from left to right.
    • 14:55 If Southampton win today they will put a six-point gap between themselves and today's opponents Wigan in the relegation zone. Following QPR's draw to Norwich there is a huge incentive for Wigan to extend the gap between them and the Premier League's basement club to six-points and also draw level with the Saints on 23 points. • 14:50 A few interesting facts about Wigan and Southampton. No Premier League side has conceded first on more occasions than Wigan this season. They have done so in 16 games. This shouldn't worry the Latics too much though because Southampton have thrown away a league-high 22 points from winning positions this season.
    • 14:45 This is the first time ever Southampton have played an away game at Wigan and only the third time they have ever faced the Latics. The first game was an FA Cup fourth round tie in 1986 which the Saints won 3-0 and the other was Wigan's 2-0 win at St Mary's earlier this season.
    • 14:40 Mauricio Pochettino's second game in charge was an away trip to Manchester United but according to Sir Alex Ferguson they were the best team to play at Old Trafford all season. Pochettino said of the game: "I'm very proud [of Ferguson's praise]. In the second half we were dominating and we were taking the game to them. I'm proud of the way we played and that performance will give my players confidence to play on like that in the future"
    • 14:35 Wigan manager Roberto Martinez was disappointed in midweek to drop two points against Stoke but was pleased with his sides comeback in the second half and will be hopeful of a repeat performance this afternoon. He said: "We dropped two points and the truth is we can't give two points away. We shouldn't have conceded two goals but I couldn't be prouder of our performance in the second half."
    • 14:30 SOUTHAMPTON TEAM NEWS: New signing Vegard Forren does not make the bench for the Saints despite rumours in the week he would be making his Premier League bow. Mauricio Pochettino has recalled 17-year-old Luke Shaw to left-back in place of Danny Fox in the only change to the team that lost to Man Utd in midweek. Saints skipper Adam Lallana is on the bench following his return from injury. Jose Fonte and Guily Do Prado are both out with knee injuries.
    • 14:25 WIGAN TEAM NEWS: Returning hero and deadline day purchase Paul Scharner makes his second debut for the club just days after returning to Wigan. Emerson Boyce was doubtful with a hamstring injury and hasn't made the squad and Arouna Kone is away at the Africa Cup of Nations so Franco di Santo leads the line. Roberto Martinez is still resisting giving Man Utd loanee Angelo Henriquez a start so the Chilean remains on the bench.
