    • 88' Very limp conclusion to this match. Seems like both teams content to play things out.
    • 86' Robbie Brady fouled in midfield. The Irish international and former Manchester United youth player has warmed into this game. A player to watch this season.
    • 84' Marco Van Ginkel coming on for his Chelsea debut. Oscar is given a rest.
    • 83' Huddlestone's resulting free-kick is poor though as it fails to clear the first man.

    • 81' Another swerving drive from Lampard but this one screws wide.
    • 80' Another Chelsea free-kick in 'Lampard range'

    • 74' Sagbo with loads of time on right edge of the box to put in a cross but it is a rather wasteful ball. More encouragement for Hull though.

    • 72' Schurrle's first big involvement is a foul in a dangerous area. Chance for Hull to whip a ball in.
    • 71' A Hull goal would make things interesting but no real sign of that coming and Chelsea remain confortable.
    • 70' The ball into the box has too much on it an eludes Ivanovic.
    • 69' Lampard fouled by Elmohamady down the right…chance to whip in a ball.
    • 68' The half remains quite flat. Chelsea seem more than happy to go through the motions after a doing the hard work in the first half.

    • 62' Sagbo has moved up front since Graham went off. Brady now attacking from the left with Huddlestone and Livermore in the middle.
    • 61' Rather dull second-half so far. Chelsea in second gear and Hull enjoying the fact that they are no longer being overwhelmed.

    • 52' Roman Abramovich is pictured on the big screen and gives a little wave to the delighted fans.
    • 51' Lukaku, Ba and Essien all warming up.
    • 50' Decent enough start to the second-half by Hull but they may need a bit of luck to get back into this. Struggling to create any chances.
    • -
    • 49' A rare chance for a cross from Hull but Aluko just can't get his foot around it.
    • -
    • 47' Ground very quiet in the opening stages of the second half. Everyone still digesting their half-time pies.
    • 46' And we are back underway - no changes from either side.
    • HT And there is the half-time whistle – a blistering start from Chelsea seems to have secured the points. They have slowed down but look to be in total control.
    • 45+3 SUPERB SAVE FROM MCGREGOR! From point blank range he stops a header from Ivanovic. Very close to going over the line but the referee did not get the buzz from the goal line technology.
    • 45+2 Torres controls the ball well and gets a shot away inside the box but it is blocked by a Hull body.
    • 45+1 Great run behind the defence from Lampard – a lovely ball from Torres set him away and McGregor has to make a good save to deny him.
    • 45' Three extra minutes.
    • 44' Again more passing from Hull in the Chelsea half. The Blues happy enough to sit back and let the play develop in front of them.
    • 43' Chelsea have certainly 'cooled down' – almost as if they feel the job is done. They play Aston Villa in midweek so would be happy enough with a low-key second half.
    • 42' Cahill has to dive in and head away a cross from Elmohamady and then Terry gets his head on a shot from Myler.
    • 41' Hull enjoying their best little spell of the game as they have some possession in the Chelsea half.
    • 40' David Myler gets a yellow card for pulling back Hazard.
    • 39' Hazard and Oscar keep swapping positions and Hull have struggled with the two of them all afternoon.
    • 38' Ivanovic's knock down for Torres is just a little too close to McGregor but great pass from Oscar to pick out the Serbian defender.

    • 36' The 'Ole' chants coming out from the Chelsea fans already.

    • 34' Nice little move inside from Robbie Brady sees him fouled by Ivanovic. Chance for Hull to get a shot on target.
    • 33' More good passing from Chelsea but De Bruyne overhits his cross.
    • 32' A stat from Opta: 18 - Frank Lampard has played in his team’s opening game of the season 18 times in the PL era, more than any other player. Perennial.
    • 30' Hull pass it around at the back. They are happy enough just to have a break from defending.
    • 29' Great little dummy by Hazard sees the ball come to Torres but a Hull boot gets in there to clear.
    • 28' Chelsea have had 10 attempts on goal already. Hull? Zero.
    • 27' Just seen the foul from Chester on Torres that led to the free-kick and it looked like Torres took a dive.
    • 26' Sagbo and Ramires need treatment after going in for a 50-50 challenge together.
    • 25' STUNNING GOAL! Frank Lampard has scored with a wonderful, dipping free-kick. It was 35-yards out but Lampard got all sorts of pace and whip on that. McGregor should have done better but take nothing away from Lampard's strike. Superb.
    • 24' James Chester with a foul about 35 yards out. Looks a bit far out but Lampard is going to have a go.
    • 22' De Bruyne tries another shot from distance that flies over the bar. The young Belgian who was on loan in Germany last season looks full of confidence.
    • -
    • 20' Ashley Cole sees a shot blocked away from a corner after a little flick from Hazard set him away.
    • -
    • 19' Figueroa has to step in well to take the ball from the attacking De Bruyne.
    • 18' Chelsea have had 74 per cent of the possession so far.
    • 17' Great work from Ramires in midfield sees him grab possession back. Hull being swarmed whenever they get possession and that is not often.
    • 16' Steve Bruce has just been pictured looking rather pensive on the touchline – welcome back to the Premier League.
    • 14' This really is fantastic stuff from Chelsea – McGregor now has to push away a shot from Lampard as Chelsea continue to fizz the ball around with breathless pace.
    • -
    • 13' GOAL CHELSEA! And it is a lovely goal too and it has been coming. Hazard started attacking by cutting in from the left – he played it to his international team-mate De Bruyne who slide in a perfect ball for Oscar to toe-poke past McGregor.
    • 12' Hull cannot keep the ball at the moment – could be a long afternoon.
    • -
    • 11' Oscar says sorry to Lampard as he drags a shot wide instead of passing. Nice link-up play by Torres.
    • 10' Another Chelsea attack sees Hazard have two shots blocked by defenders.
    • 8' Jose Mourinho looked quiet calm after that penalty miss – he will be encouraged by the start.
    • 7' Hull fans delighted with that penalty save but their team still looks up against it.
    • 6' PENALTY SAVED! Allan McGregor makes up for his error in sublime style as he dives to his right and pushes Frank Lampard's penalty away. Lampard hit the penalty well but it was the right height for McGregor.
    • 5' PENALTY FOR CHELSEA! Stupid goalkeeping from McGregor as hits Torres on the head while the Spanish striker was moving away from goal.
    • 5' A Hull defender has to block a Hazard shot from close range as Chelsea ramp up the early pressure.
    • 4' Ramies tries a one-day with Torres on the edge of the area but Torres pass has too much on it.
    • 3' Kevin De Bruyne on his Chelsea debut has the first attempt on goal but flashes the ball over the bar.
    • 2' Chelsea just stroking the ball around in these early stages. Some people wondering where David Luiz is - he has a slight hamstring injury and that is why he is not even on the bench. Has nothing to do with a potential move to Barcelona.
    • 1' And Chelsea get us underway...
    • 15:58 AND HERE HE IS!!! Jose Mourinho comes out and it is more like a religious convention than a football match as he kisses towards all four corners of the ground.

    • 15:50 Steve Bruce: "The fact that Jose is back is a 'wow'. I'm delighted he's back because we need people like him. He's quite remarkable in what he has done and not just at Chelsea; he's gone to Italy and done it; he's gone to Spain and done it; he started in Portugal and done it. That's the Mourinho factor. He brings certain standards and you can't argue with them because whether it's Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan or Real Madrid he wins the thing."

    • 15:40 Tottenham have just beaten Crystal Palace 1-0 in the early fixture of the day, with Roberto Soldado scoring on his debut. Wilfried Bony and Ricky van Wolfswinkel did likewise on their first Premier League starts on Saturday. Will De Bruyne join the club?

  1. Any one remember Hull's last first season in the premiership was it 2-1 to Hull away win at Arsenal and 1-0 to Hull winat Spurs in successive games? Hull will have high scoring defeats a few times this season along with a few other teams (that's the premiership) I might add. But they will surprise a few teams and perhaps Arsenal again? Anyone impressed with Arsenals recruitment and first match showing against Villa?

  3. ok im not trying to be rude to chelsea, or supporters, but its like a joke Muorinho and abramovich the camara's were more on them then watching the actual match. both poseing for the telly what a joke, and also got rid of the dug-out so he can be seen better, omfg lol. newly promoted hull and chelski can only manage two goals, thats not very good, and in my mind very average. i realy dont see whats so damn special about this so called self apointed special one, the only cups chelski have won have come from russian mafia money, and not from your own club merrit.

  8. Just watched Lampard's free kick. Please tell me why the ref did blow it down when Ivanovic and Cahlill pushed the wall apart so Lampard could get the shot through. Just wondering how much the ref was paid off by Ibram or the Pathetic One. Didn't matter in the end as Hull is brutal. Might go 0-38 this year playing like that.
