The hard work was done in the first half for Arsenal, who saw their lead through in comfort to beat Manchester United 2-0. It’s a fully deserved victory for the Gunners, who were in control from the opening minute, attacking from all angles and pinning the United defence back. Torreira and Xhaka both put in great performances shielding the defence, as did David Luiz and Sokratis ahead of the relatively unused Leno. The Red Devils far too infrequently forced the Arsenal goalkeeper into action, as Rashford and Martial were frustrated by a lack of space and service. A number of shots from outside the 18-yard box was about all the strikers could muster - none of which worried the hosts. It’s a poor showing from the visitors who stay fifth, while Arteta’s first victory as coach sees Arsenal climb into 10th.
