3 vs. 1
AVL
HUL
90'+3
Aston Villa secure their Premier League status with a comfortable win over an unimpressive Hull City side. Andreas Weimann's first-half double combined with Ashley Westwood's first-minute opener took them through a somewhat less eventful second half, and the FA Cup finalists could do nothing to claw back any points. Thanks for your company this afternoon.
90'+3
Villa have held out well here, looking confident and relaxed.
90'
Three additional minutes.
89'
Rosenior gets in a cross from the left towards the head of Sagbo, but it's just too high.
85'
Steve Bruce has folded arms and a displeased expression.
84'
Hull are pressing a little bit but don't look particularly dangerous. They win a corner thanks to Lowton's clearance, but he's not under pressure, he simply can't see who - if anyone - is behind him.
Aston Villa Substitution
81'

Andreas Weimann gets a standing ovation as he's replaced by Leandro Bacuna.
80'
It's been a comparatively subdued second half with few real clear-cut chances, but Villa do look much the better.
80'
Bowery finds himself alone with just two Hull players and a goalkeeper to beat. He opts to have a shot, but it's looping and off target.
77'
Looping cross from Long reaches the head of Sagbo, but he can't direct that goalwards.
76'

Marc Albrighton goes off, with Karim El Ahmadi coming on in his place.
Aston Villa Substitution
75'
Huddlestone lashes in a shot from the edge of the box, but Guzan is watching that all the way and gets down to hold it.
74'
Weimann gets treatment. It looks like he's taken a stud or two on the Achilles. Ouch.
73'
Andi Weimann is down with an injury, and Hull are refusing to put the ball out of play, as you'd probably expect. Figueroa eventually has a wayward shot from range.
71'
The pace of the game has slowed somewhat now, although Aston Villa are still pressing more than their visitors.
Hull City Substitution
69'

Substitution - the disappointing Jelavic is replaced by Yannick Sagbo.
67'
25 minutes to go, and Aston Villa will be hoping they can hang on to an excellent record against Hull in the Premier League. They are unbeaten in all five Premier League matches against Hull City, winning four and drawing one.
65'
Steve Harper shows he can do the same, sweeping up from the edge of the box despite the oncoming challenge.
63'
Good goalkeeping from Brad Guzan here, bravely coming out to meet Shane Long and staying within the box as well.
60'
Another chance for Villa - Weimann plays Bowery in, and though he's waiting for a return pass, his team-mate decides to have a shot himself, which is saved by Harper.
59'
Hull's best chance of the half so far, with Ciaran Clark scuffing his clearance - fortunately for him all the Hull players around him fail as well, with Jelavic not managing to connect.
57'
Corner to Villa, and it ends up with Albrighton, who fancies his chances from range.
55'
Villa are still looking good here. They'll be wanting to get another couple of goals after the season they've had.
52'
Good shot from Bowery, holding off Figueroa, and forcing Harper to make the save.
50'
That Antonio Luna tweet at half-time might have been a little premature, but nonetheless Aston Villa have won 28 of the 29 Premier League home matches (one draw) where they have led by two or more goals at half-time.
49'
Weimann and Bowery are linking up well, running at the Hull defence and working hard.
47'
Villa are starting the second half buzzing. They're looking extremely confident, buoyed by that Weimann double.
46'

And there's a half-time substitution for Hull - Stephen Quinn replaces David Meyler, who did seem like he was playing with an injury.
46'
Back for the second half, then.

Yes guys!! already we can,t lose this game, we go together until the end/No podemos perder este partido, juntos hasta el final ! #VamosVilla

Hull City Substitution
45'+3
And that means Andreas Weimann has scored twice in a Premier League match for only the second time – after the 3-2 defeat v Man Utd in November 2012.
45'+3

GOAL! Great ball in from Bowery on the left, picking out the head of Weimann, who glances it past a despairing Harper.
Aston Villa Goal

Header - Bottom Right

45'+1
Curtis Davies and Steve Harper are not on the same wavelength today. They fail to communicate and Davies eventually swings a boot at it out for a corner.
45'
Into three minutes of added time.
Hull City Substitution
42'

Chester's picked up an injury there, and Alex Bruce replaces him.
Aston Villa Goal

Header - Top Left

41'

GOAL! Weimann fires home from point-blank range, getting his head to it after Nathan Baker's attempts couldn't get past the Hull back line.
40'
Bowery's cross is deflected on to the roof of Harper's net - another corner.
39'
Andi Weimann does brilliantly down the left, holding off two Hull defenders, but Harper gets his feet to block the shot. The cross back in is met by Bowery's head and it's deflected over.
38'
David Meyler gets his head to it, but it flicks out for a goal-kick.
37'
Confusion between Baker and Guzan ends up in a Hull corner.
36'
Shane Long veritably races in to the box there - Guzan is quick off the mark to claim ahead of him without clattering him either.
35'
Possession is about half and half at the moment.
34'
Great save from Brad Guzan, getting his left hand to a terrific strike from Huddlestone.
33'
The Villa fans are nervous and grumpy. The crowd noise has changed palpably since that equaliser after the positive, relaxed atmosphere of the first 25 minutes.

29'
Villa respond almost immediately, forcing Curtis Davies into a nasty slice on the edge of the box, but Steve Harper gets his hands to it.
29'
Looking at that goal again, Hull had about three players offside. Villa will be very upset when they see that.
28'

GOAL! The free-kick is played to the left, and the ball in from Rosenior evades everyone except the back of Jordan Bowery's legs.
Hull City Goal

Left Footed - Bottom Right

27'
Free-kick to Hull, about 40 yards out.
24'
Weimann tries to square it to Bowery, but Chester blocks it, and then the rebound skews out for a corner.
Aston Villa Substitution
23'

What a shame for Gabby Agbonlahor. He hasn't managed to run off that knock, and Bowery finally does get the chance to replace him.
23'
We're halfway through the first half, and Hull have now kept only two away clean sheets this season - only Fulham have kept fewer.
22'
And that's headed out by Ron Vlaar.
21'
Corner to Hull as Bertrand deflects Elmohamady's attempted cross.
19'
Ron Vlaar has a chance for a header there, from an Albrighton free-kick, but it's a little too high for him. Villa are looking good here.
16'
The lively Meyler gets a cross in, but Brad Guzan finds that easy to claim.
15'
Jordan Bowery isn't quite sure whether he's going to be replacing Agbonlahor or not. It seems not, for the time being - he's putting his tracksuit top back on.
14'
Incidentally, Westwood's goal - after 57 seconds - was only the second time Aston Villa have scored in the opening minute of a Premier League home match – after Ian Taylor’s first minute strike in the 3-1 home victory v Crystal Palace in March 1998.
13'
Some very tidy build-up play from Villa here. Still, their passing has often looked very neat this season; they need to get these chances converted.
12'
Agbonlahor's moving a bit carefully, but manages a shot here which is blocked by Rosenior and out for a corner.
10'
Meyler is looking rather busy on the left side at the moment, but nothing is resulting from it.
9'
Brad Guzan gets the chance to have a few touches of the ball before playing it upfield to launch another Villa attack.
7'
Hull begin to assert themselves a little, but Meyler's ball forward has just too much behind it for anyone to reach.
5'
Lowton makes a run down the right, and although he successfully manages a nutmeg, he can't actually get the ball back on the other side.
4'
Agbonlahor limps off to the touchline, where Paul Lambert meets him and gives him a hug and a pat on the back. He'll be back on shortly.
2'
It looks like Agbonlahor is injured here - he's holding his knee, and the physio is treating him now.
1'

GOAL! Ashley Westwood scores in the very first minute! Great from from Agbonlahor, who does well to hold off the challenges. It falls to him on the edge of the box - after Albrighton swings and misses but manages to tap it across - and he lashes it home.

Hull get us under way in the sunshine.

The players are on the pitch, and we’re almost ready! Both teams in their home kits today. #UTT

14:55
The teams are heading out - the Villa fans are passing giant flags around the stand, plus one that's a giant replica Ron Vlaar kit.
14:50
Steve Bruce is obviously looking forward to this one. "Last time against Villa was an awful affair. Me and Paul Lambert both said it was arguably the worst game we'd seen in a long time. This one must be better because it couldn't be much worse."
14:50
Paul Lambert knows how important today is: "If we win then it virtually gets us out of the relegation battle. That's how big the game is. Everybody knows it. I said the other day that this is like a cup final and we're at home, with the backing of 38,000 people. That will have to drive us on as well and if the lads perform against a good side who have had a really good season then we'll do it. The ironic thing is that if we win, we can go above Hull."
14:45
Villa fans may well be a little subdued after hearing that Birmingham escaped the drop to League One earlier. City scored two late goals, including a stoppage time equaliser, to stay in the Championship on a dramatic final day.
City stay up in thrilling fashion

Birmingham clinched survival in the most dramatic fashion as Paul Caddis' header three minutes into stoppage time prevented the 2011 League Cup winners from dropping into the third tier of English football for the first time in 20 years.

14:40
The Tigers already seem safe, with a five-point buffer and a game in hand on the bottom three, but that assumption could become a mathematical fact if results fall favourably over the weekend. 38 points would be a mark virtually certain to guarantee safety this season.
14:30
Hull manager Steve Bruce has said he would happily shake hands on a dour goalless draw today. A draw at Villa Park, which would also help the home cause as they battle the drop, would take Hull to 38 points. "A dull 0-0 will do me on Saturday," he said. "Yes, we are in the entertainment business, but the main aim for us is to stay here in this division and it looks like we're nearly there."
14:25
Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert knows the buck stops with him as he tries to see out a difficult season. "If we win then it virtually gets us out of the relegation battle," he said. "That's how big the game is. Everybody knows it. I said the other day that this is like a cup final and we're at home, with the backing of 38,000 people. That will have to drive us on."
14:20
