    'Huge' pressure as Shanghai remains COVID-free and end to lockdown looms

    Health authorities in Shanghai face huge pressure to keep COVID-19 at bay the longer the city goes without a new community infection with residents counting down the days until June 1 and the end of their hated lockdown. The commercial hub of 25 million achieved a fourth consecutive day without any new infections in the community, keeping hold of its prized "zero COVID" status and keeping alive hopes for an imminent end to lockdown misery. "The risk of finding positive infections among risk groups still exists and the pressure of ... preventing a rebound remains huge," Zhao Dandan of the municipal health commission told reporters on Wednesday.

    Seager triggers wild 8th as Rangers rally past Angels 10-5

    Corey Seager triggered a seven-run eighth inning with a bloop double long after a first-inning homer in Reid Detmers' first start since throwing a no-hitter, and the Texas Rangers rallied to beat the the Los Angeles Angels 10-5 on Tuesday night.     COVID-wracked N.Korea may greet Biden with a missile test

    Despite battling a wave of suspected COVID-19 infections, North Korea appears to be preparing to test an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) ahead of U.S. President Joe Biden's first official trip to South Korea, a U.S. official said. The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that the latest intelligence showed North Korea could carry out an ICBM test as soon as Thursday or Friday. Biden is expected to arrive in South Korea on Friday and hold talks with his South Korean counterparts over several days before visiting Japan.
