    • 90 There's the final whistle and it's a tame opening to England's campaign. They were the better side and Mexico are clearly the happier with the share of the spoils. They lacked a cutting edge and too man yof their big players didn't turn up.
    • 93' Mayor is in loads of space at teh edge of the box and hits a well-stuck volley which White does well to get her head in the way of, another corner.
    • 92' Incredibly sloppy by Smith and Williams who both give the ball away in a matter of seconds and Noyola wins a corner
    • 91' Williams tries to chip a through ball to Scott but it's ambitious and easily cleared
    • 90' England out of ideas, they are keeping possession but can't find a way through, and they won't playing at a slow tempo at this stage
    • 89' Ocampo has a go but it's over the bar as well, although a lot closer than Smith's effort
    • 89' A card at the other end as Ocampos dispossess Stoney and then the England centre-back dragged her down as she bore down on the penalty box.
    • 88' Smith will be disappointed with that one, never troubling Santiago
    • 87' Yellow Car for Garciamendez for bringing down White on the edge of the box, dangerous position for Smith to hit it
    • 86' Ellen White showing her frustration there giving away a needless free-kick for pushing Worbis in the back
    • 85 Garza replaced by Noyola and takes her time to leave the pitch, the Mexicans clearly under orders now.
    • 84' Ocampo is hit by the ball and is writhing on the floor as if it had been made of steel, surely just wasting time now
    • 83' Sophie Bradley comes on for Faye White as she is struggling with a lack of match fitness
    • 82' Ellen White with a dangerous looking cross after being played in by Alex Scott, but the delivery was just a little high and the danger subsides
    • 81' Aluko's poor game continues as Unitt plays a ball up to her and she miscontrols it and it is a Mexico throw-in
    • 80' yankey takes the free-kick and it is excellently dealt with by Santiago who punches the ball very effectively
    • 79' Yankey goes down holding her face after a collision with Garciamendez, it really didn't look serious though, some what of an over reaction
    • 78' Both teams have lost their way a bit and England especially resorting to long balls when it is clearly not their game plan
    • 77' Change for Mexico and it is the captain Dominguez who's going for for Juana Lopez. The injury obviously proving too much for her to continue
    • 76' Ellen White charges down a clearance and gets a cross in, but she didn't have enough support in the area
    • 75' White plays a great ball to Aluko towards the right corner-flag but she fails to keep it in, goal-kick
    • 74' Williams plays a good ball to Unitt down the left and she gets a cross in towards Jill Scott, it's at an awkward angle though and she can only loop it over the bar
    • 73' Dominguez returns to the action and maybe it was just cramp after all
    • 72' Karen Carney has played well but she is replaced by Ellen White to give England more of an out and out striker to support Smith
    • 71' It looks serious for Dominguez and maybe worse than cramp as she is stretchered off
    • 70' The Mexican wave is on show in the crowd as the Mexican captain receives treatment
    • 69' Dominguez tries to flick the ball past White but is struck by cramp as she does so and goes down
    • 68' Carney and Yankey switch wings for England to see if they can achieve any success on the opposite flanks
    • 67' It lokoed for a second like Smith was in on goal from a Carney through ball but the angle was against ehr and Garciamendez closed her out
    • 66' Aluko and Smith link-up well again on the efge of the Mexican box and Aluko has another chance on her left foot, but she slices her shot and it rolls harmlessly wide
    • 65' The corner was well dealt with by Stoney and then another cross ends up flying out for a goal-kick
    • 65' Alex Scott wasn't sure what to do with a cross from the right and eventually puts it out for a corner.
    • 64' The next corner is a shocker and sets Mexico off on a counter-attack, it leads to nothing though
    • 64' The corner pinballs around in the air before Aluko very nearly gets on the end of a Jill Scott flick-on, it's another corner
    • 63' Kelly Smith working tremendously hard and battles away to eventually win a corner against three defenders
    • 62' Poor communication between Stoney and Bardsley almost lets Mexico in but Scott draws a free-kick and England can clear
    • 61' From the resulting corner it's played in low and Unitt goes in very strongly on Dominguez and is very lucky not to concede a penalty
    • 60' Straight down the otehr end and Dominguez is nearly in on goal until Stoney makes a great challenge
    • 59' Aluko has a chance to make amends for ehr earlier miss as she breaks down the right of the box but she doesn't strike it cleanly and Santiago saves
    • 58' England play the ball back to Mexico as they had put it out so Scott could receive treatment
    • 56' Jill Scott is on the wrong end of a very heavy challenge from Mayor, she landed awkwardly and looks hurt. Mayor lucky to avoid a booking there.
    • 55' Fara Williams continues to shoot from range but this one is a long way wide
    • 54' Great deep cross from Yankey is nodded back across goal by Carney to Aluko but the striker missed her kick with the goal just two yards away, a great chance for England
    • 53' The England centre-backs step up and narrowly catch Dominguez offside, it worked but it was very tight and another through-ball from deep could catch them out if they try that again
    • 52' Scott treis a long ball forward to Yankey from the back but the Mexicans aren't troubled by that at all
    • 51' Unitt pushes forward down the left and has time to deliver a cross, but it's poor and cut out. Yankey the next to put a cross in but it drops over the goal and out for a goal-kick.
    • 50' Dominguez looks to drive the free-kick and beat Bardsley on her own side of the net but the shot is just wide of the post
    • 49' Mayor does well down the right for Mexico and cuts the ball back, in clearing it Jill Scott handles and the referee spots it awarding Mexico the free-kick right on the edge of the area.
    • 48' Aluko is all the way back at left-back defending against Vinti and wins England a throw-in, Kelly Smith then wins a free-kick and it's well worked away by England
    • 47' It's a very poor corner from Carney and it's easily cleared
    • 46' Kelly Smith starts the half brightly sliding Aluko in down the inside right channel and she wins a corner
    • 45' The second half is started by England
    • 45' Amazingly after how the first half hour panned out it was Mexico that had the best of the first half possession with 51%, England were nearer to 60% before they conceded the goal. Goals change games.
    • 45' The MExican goalkeeper Cecilia Santiago is incredibly just 16-years-old and is making her 14th appearance for her country this afternoon, she's looked very assured so far for such a young age.
    • 45' It's half-time and England will be disappointed not to be ahead. They've had the better of the play and it took a moment of genius from Ocampo to draw Mexico level. The Mexicans will be delighted with the scoreline.
    • 44' Aluko breaks down the left showing her pace, she is probably fouled twice and then loses the ball to Garciamendez and the free-kick is given against the Englishwoman, baffling refereeing
    • 43' Smith is part of most of England's positive play but she's struggling to find any runnners to play in when she gets on the ball, the movement upfront for England needs to improve
    • 42' Mexico have come right back into this now and are enjoying much more possession than they ever had in the first half hour
    • 41' Williams catches Ocampo with her studs and it's a free-kick deep in their own half for Mexico
    • 40' Scott and Williams attempt a one-two on the right-flank but Scott overplays the pass and the attack is over
    • 39' All the Mexicans fancy their chances of beating Bardsley from range now, Dominguez has a go, but it's comfortably over
    • 38' England a little shell-shocked after dominating for so long, they are right back to square one
    • 37' Garza now tries an effort from range for Mexico, but this one flies well over the bar
    • 36' Yankey had a good chance to counter-attack there but miscontrolled the ball and lost possession
    • 35' That was England's tenth shot compared to Mexico's one, but it's the scoreline of one a piece that counts
    • 34' Eni Aluko nearly hits straight back as she hits a crisp strike from the edge of the box, it has Santiago beaten but it goes just wide of the right hand post.
    • 33' GOAL FOR MEXICO!!! Out of nowhere England back off Monica Ocampo and she hits it from a good twenty-five yards and it dips under the cross bar and into the top corner. In all honesty Karen Bardsley could perhaps have saved it, but it was a cracking strike and she was caught by surprise by the quality of it.
    • 32' Fara Williams hits it but it was a long way off target, very disappointing effort.
    • 31' Yankey miscontrols a pass but then nips the ball away from Worbis and draws a foul twenty yards from goal, a good chance for England
    • 30' Mexico are getting pinned back into their own half by England now and are struggling to string a move together
    • 29' Williams with another effort from range, this time from the left hand side trying to curl it into the far corner but the young keeper was equal to it again
    • 28' The goalscorer Williams is buoyant after breaking teh deadlock and tries a long range drive which she hits well but Santiago gets everything behind it
    • 27' All of England's pressure is coming down the right flank as Aluko and Careny cause problems down there again
    • 26' Smith charges down a clearance and Aluko had a chance to play her strike partner in but her pass was weak and it didn't reach it's target
    • 25' The pace slows down again, but England won't mind having taken the lead, the onus is on Mexico now to attack
    • 24' The young Mexican keeper does much better there punching the cross and then saves an effort from the edge of the box from Yankey
    • 23' England full of confidence now and Aluko breaks down the right to win another corner which Yankey will take this time
    • 22' GOAL FOR ENGLAND!!! Fara WIlliams meets the Carney corner and produces a fabulous header into the top corner of the goal. There was a defender on the line but there was nothing she could do as it flew over her head, great goal.
    • 21' Yankey does well to win the ball in the opposing half and Carney picks it up but her shot is deflected out for a corner
    • 20' Carney and Yankey are playing in very advanced positions for England and at times it looks like a four-pronged attack
    • 19' England trying to quicken the pace now as they don't want to be bogged down by Mexico
    • 18' More great interplay between Carney and Smith sees the former very nearly playing in Aluko but her attemted through ball was cut out
    • 17' The game has settled down to get a sedate pace, England still having more of the ball but not in any dangerous areas over the last few miuntes
    • 16' Mexico resorting to long balls forward towards Dominguez but Stoney and White have absolutely no trouble in mopping them up
    • 14' It's good play from England in the middle of the field, trying to create but also pressing their opponents into making mistakes when they are wihtout the ball
    • 13' Jill Scott the latest to pull the trigger for England, but her shot from range ends up in the stands behing Santiago's goal
    • 12' Aluko bursts infield from the right and played in Yankey who produced a backheel looking for Smith but it jsut fell short. Aluko pounced and got a shot away but it was blocked.
    • 11' Unitt unbelievably penalised for a high boot out on the left wing when she fairly won the ball. Very unlucky.
    • 10' England starting to show their superiority and are dominating possession, just probing for the cutting edge though
    • 8' The lively Carney is creating problems again as a cross was put right into the danger zone, but there was no one there to attack it. Yankey kept the ball in and set up Williams but her shot was well over.
    • 7' Smith and Carney linking up well again on the right flank and it was Smith who eventually got a shot away from the edge of the penalty box. It was close but flashed just wide of the near post.
    • 6' England looking to get the ball down in the centre of the pitch and build slowly
    • 5' Kelly Smith chases down a long clearance and lays the ball back into the path of Carney, but her centre fails to find anyone and it's easily cleared
    • 4' A mistake from Unitt lets Dominguez into the area but Faye White was there to sort out the danger which she did brilliantly making a strong challenge
    • 3' Eni Aluko's pace putting the Mexican defence under pressure early on, that could be a useful outlet for the English
    • 2' The England team will likely be pleased that the vast majority of the pitch is in the shade, so they can avoid the near thirty degree heat as much as possible.
    • 1' The game is under way in Wolfsburg with Mexico in their traditional green kicking off
    • 14.58 Maribel Dominguez has scored 68 times for her country in just 92 appearances, she is the one to watch for the Mexicans
    • 14.57 All the matches so far in this year's finals have been decided by a single goal. England are hot favourites for this one, but if the other matches are antyhing to go by it will be a very tight one.
    • 14.55 England striker Kelly Smith is just one goal away from Kerry Davies' international scoring record of 44 goals, can she equal or even beat it today?
    • 14.55 Mexico are only appearing in their second Women's World Cup having appeared in 1999 previously. They were on the end of some heavy defeats twelve years ago, but have improved greatly sinec then.
    • 14.52 This is England's third World Cup finals and they have succeeded in qualifying from the group stage on both previous occassions
    • 14.50 England: Barndsley, A.Scott, Unitt, J.Scott, F.White, Stoney, F.Williams, K. Smith, Yankey, Carney, Aluko
    • 14.48 Team News: Mexico: Santiago, Sandoval, Garciamendez, Vinti, Worbis, Dominguez, Garza, Rangel, Saucedo, Ocamp, Mayor.
    • 14.45 With Japan having already picked up three points today in Group B this afternoon, the pressure is on to keep up with the early pace setters
    • 14.45 England will be buoyed by their previous performance against the Mexicans when they prospered 5-0
    • 14.30 Welcome to our coverage of England's opening match in the Women's World Cup 2011 against Mexico
