FULL TIME: Germany 2-2 Ghana
Unbelievable! Ghana come away on the counter attack from a German corner and have a 3-2 on two situation in their favour! But they play the wrong pass and Ayew is called offside. Oh dear! What a chance!
Ghana Yellow card

Three minutes of stoppage time to be played.
HUGE chance for Klose! Schweinsteiger plays a great pass to split the Ghanain defence, but with time and space to pick his spot the striker puts his shot wide of the target. Thought that was the moment!
Lahm has had a poor game for Germany. He's been loose with possession and has offered little in the way of creativity in the centre of midfield. Schweinsteiger has changed the game for the Germans.
Now Ghana come forward through Ayew, who pings a low shot at goal from 20 yards. But Neuer gets down well to make the save. This has turned into a very open affair in the final few minutes.
Ozil gets in behind the Ghana defence and plays a great pass across the face of goal, but Mensah gets a desperate block in before it can reach Klose and puts it over his own goal.
What a chance for Muller! He's played clean through on goal, but Asamoah doesn't give it up and makes a last ditch tackle to prevent the Bayern Munich man from giving Germany the lead.
Excellent play! Gyan loses Hummels with a great piece of, then crosses into Ayew, but he's just offside, and the flag is raised. He put his header over the bar anyway.
Ghana comes forward on the counter attack (common theme in this second half), with Ayew bursting down the right wing. He makes it into the box, but his shot is blocked by Howedes and Neuer makes the save at his near post.
Ozil plays a neat little ball through to Lahm, who tries to flick the ball into the path of Klose, but his backheel is intercepted by the Ghana defence. He should have turned and had a shot himself!

Miroslav Klose (15), Ronaldo (15), Gerd Müller (14), Just Fontaine (13), Pelé (12), Sándor Kocsis & Jürgen Klinsmann (11).

This has been a fantastic game. Even at this late stage, in this heat, both teams are still going for it. Nobody is settling for a point. They want all three. Will someone find a winner?
Ghana Substitution
Rabiu takes control of the ball on the edge of the box from a corner kick, but his powerful shot flashes past the post. Neuer seemed quite calm about that, although it looked closer than he perhaps realised.

Germany should do a nine-man stepover on the next free kick. Really throw Ghana off

No less than four German players step over the ball for a freekick, leaving it to Schweinsteiger, but he swings his effort over the bar. He was looking for the top corner at the far post.
And now Germany have the momentum. After a sluggish first half, this second half has been incredible. Both teams are going for it! And the only winner at the moment is the neutral!
What an impact from the Germany striker. He scored with his first touch, reacting quickest to a flick-on in the penalty box. That's what he's so good at. He's a poacher. The best poacher.

*That* is why Mario Gomez is sitting in his flat in Florence right now.

Germany Goal

Right Footed - Bottom Right

GOAL! Germany 2 (70 mins - Miroslav Klose) Ghana 2. Klose has scoed with his first touch! And he's equalled Ronaldo's World Cup record of 15 goals. And what a huge goal it could be!
Germany Substitution
Indeed, it is Khedira who comes off for Schweinsteiger. Although the board originally showed that it was Muller to come off. The boos had already started raining down from the crowd.
Germany Substitution
Another great opportunity! Ghana come down the right side once again, playing the ball into Ayew. But the cross is just too high for the attacker, skimming off the top of his head. Inches away from repeating his first goal.
Great chance for Ayew! Ghana come forward on the counter attack with Mustafi out of position, with Ayew surging down the right side. But he decides against passing to Gyan and goes alone, with his shot saved in the end. Gyan is furious.
All of a sudden this game has a completely different feel about it. Ghana are in the mood for more. They're looking to attack at every possible opportunity. They're not sitting back on what they have already.

Ghana had the best midfield at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, but no forwards. Now they've got players who can score goals, too.

Lahm was the player who gave the ball away in the centre of midfield and was made to pay for it. Now Germany look vulnerable at the back. Ghana have a swagger about them now.
GOAL! Germany 1 Ghana 2 (63 mins - Asamoah Gyan). Wow! Muntari slots a pinpoint pass in between two German defenders for Gyan, who picks his spot and finds it with an assured finish.
Ghana Goal

Right Footed - Bottom Left

Looks like Bastian Schweinsteiger is about to come on for Germany. He's stripped and warming up on the touchline. Is he about to come on for Khedira? Or will Kroos be hooked by Loew?
Just as I say that, both Howedes and Mustafi surge up the wings to provide an outlet on the attack. Did they hear me?
Germany have rarely pushed their fullbacks up the pitch, which is unusual because that's often a feature of Loew's strategy. Without the overlapping runs they lack width. It's making their play very narrow.
There are officially 15,000 Germany fans inside this stadium for the game, but Ghana have the support of the locals. And it's the locals who are making the noise at the moment.
Muntari lines up a freekick about 35 yards out from goal, but his shot goes high and wide of the target. Bit of a wild strike from the former Portsmouth midfielder. Would have been better clipping it into the box.
What a response by Ghana. That's what happens when they get the final ball right. So often at this World Cup they've looked toothless in the final third, but that was a great goal by Ayew.
GOAL! Germany 1 Ghana 1 (54 mins - Andre Ayew). Ghana draw level almost immediately! Ayew fights for the cross into the box and gets his head on the delivery to head past a helpless Neuer!
Ghana Goal

Header - Bottom Left

Goetze is the youngest player in this Germany team, and he now has 10 goals in 31 appearances for the national team. Reus isn't here, but Goetze has made his mark on this World Cup.
Ghana Substitution
Germany Goal

Left Footed - Bottom Left

GOAL! Germany 1 (50 mins - Mario Goetze) Ghana 0. The breakthrough has finally been made! Muller pick out Goetze with a pass from deep, and the Bayern Munich player heads onto his own knee and into the net.

Is second game syndrome now a thing? Only France of fancied sides who played really well in first game have kept it up.

It now looks like Gotze is being used as the focal point of the attack, with Muller dropping deeper into the midfield. Their frontline is so interchangeable. It must be so difficult to mark.
Suggestions are that Loew thought Boateng was being too exposed on the right side, allowing Ghana to break at pace. Let's see if the introduction of Mustafi helps solve that problem.
So that's an interesting change by Loew. Mustafi, the 22 year old, has come on for Boateng at right back for Germany. Has that change been prompted by injury? Didn't think he was playing too badly.

What did you make of the first half? Should Loew be thinking about putting on Klose? Can Ghana come away with a win here? What changes should they make? Tweet me !

Germany have been the better team in the first half, and have been in behind Ghana two or three times, but on the whole it's been quite an even game. Ghana will take encourgament from their performance.
One minute of stoppage time to be played.
Ayew jumps highest from a cross into the box, beating Boateng to the ball, but his header comes off the head of the German defender and away for a cornerl, which comes to nothing, despite a flap from Neuer.
Ghana come forward before the break, looking to create their first real goalscoring chance of the first half. Just like against the USA, they've lacked creativity and invention in the final third.
The ironic thing about that pass Muller just played is that, that is the kind of cross he thrives on. He would have thrown himself at the ball had he been in the box, and not playing the pass.
Lahm combines with Muller again, with the former playing the latter through to the byline, but his fizzed pass across the face of goal can't find a teammate, and it pops out the other side.
Lahm comes forward and looks to be lining up the shot from the edge of the box, but he resists the temptation and plays it into Muller instead, who can't do much with it. Should have taken the ping.
The tempo of this game hasn't quite been what we've been used to at this World Cup. The heat is having an impact on the players, that's for sure.
Dauda has to be on alert to save from Gotze, who was played through by Ozil. The ball sat up nicely for the shot by the keeper got everything he has behind the effort to make th stop.
Mertesacker comes up from the back for a corner kick, which Ghana defends well and takes control of the ball from. But they can't expose the space left by the defender at the back, and Germany come forward again.

Really difficult game for Germany so far. Neuer on his game though fortunately. Unsurprising second-game slump.

Gyan uses his pace to get in behind Mertesacker and Boateng, and springs into the box from a tight angle. He gets to his knock-on ahead of Neuer but the keeper does enough to put him off and forces him out of play.
OOOFT! Muntari thumps a shot towards goal from about 20 yards, putting all his weight behind the effort. But Neuer gets behind it to beat away from his goal. What a shot.
Ghana push Germany high up the pitch and win the ball on the edge of their box, but as has proved the case so often at this World Cup, their final product is missing and the cross goes long.
Muller is such fascinating player to watch. His makes such darting diagonal runs all over the pitch. He does work along the lines that a traditional striker would.
Gotze breaks in behind the Ghana defence, surging into the box at speed. He only has one man in the box - Muller - but Boye cuts out his cut-back to his Bayern Munich teammate.
Ghana are trying to do everything a bit too quickly. When they win the ball they look anxious to move the ball forward as quickly as they can. They need to slow things down and have more composure.
With the Ghanian defence holding firm Germany's patience on the edge of the box wares out and Kroos has a ping from 20 yards. But he's leaning back and the ball flies well over the bar.
Howedes breaks forward from the left back position to help support his attacking teammates and actually stays up the pitch for the attacking move. Germany's players all look very comfortable on the ball.
Just to elaborate, he quality in this game hasn't been great but it has swung back and forth in the opening 20 minutes or so, with Germany pressing, then Ghana having a go themselves.
Germany have taken control of the game in the last few minutes. They're knocking the ball about the back and working it through the midfield. The flow of this game has been compelling.
Muller comes close! Ozil picks up the ball from the right side, playing a ball into the six yard box for his teammate to run onto, but Boye does just enough to put Muller off, who misses his shot.
Gyan's run creates a yard or two of space for Boateng, who takes a shot from the best part of 25 yards. But it's slightly ambitious and the ball flashes past the target, causing Neuer no real problem.
Ozil breaks forward down the right side before cutting inside and playing the ball back to Khedira. The Real Madrid midfielder takes the shot first time, trying to guide it into the bottom corner, but Duada makes the save.
A Mexican Wave sweeps round the stadium in Fortaleza. Now, what do Mexicans call a Mexican Wave? Is it just 'The Wave'?
As well as Ghana have played in the last five minutes or so, they're suffering the same problems they endured against the United States. Nice build-up play but little in the way of a final product.

No great surprise, but the tens of thousands of Brazilians in the stadium are firmly behind #GERvsGHA

Ghana are enjoying a good spell of pressure at the moment. They're exposing the weaknesses in the Germany backline. That's something Portugal weren't able to do in the first game.
Neuer forced into action! Atsu fires a shot at goal from the best part of 25 yards, but the Bayern Munich keeper dives down to his right to make the stop and push the ball away from danger.
Mensah charges down a Kroos shot! Nice play from Germany in the box sees Muller backheel the ball to the Bayern Munich midfielder, but his effort is blocked by the on-rushing defender.
Ozil almost gets in behind the Ghana defence, but Dauda comes off his line quickly yo smother the run of the Arsenal midfield. The ball through from Muller was fantastic. Germany look dangerous.
Muller is playing in the false nine position for Germany again, dropping back into midfield and prowling all the way across the line. It's highly effective. You can't really argue with seven goals in four games.
Decent chance for Gyan! A long ball into the channel finds Atsu, who cuts back and squares a low cross into the box, finding Gyan eight yards out. But the Ghana striker fires over under pressure from Mertesacker.
Ghana are already sitting very deep inside their own half, and for the moment are struggling to keep hold of the ball in midfield. But there's no great urgency about Germany's play.
With the temperature sitting at around 31C in Fortaleza it's perhaps unsurprising that the tempo of this game has started off quite slowly. Both teams looking to get the ball down and pass it.
Of course, tonight sees the two Boateng brothers - Jerome and Kevin Prince - go head to head for different countries. Jerome admitted before the game that he would have mixed feelings for this game.
Loew has stuck with the same team that played against Portugal. I suppose, why would you change a lineup that delivered a 4-0 opening game win in a World Cup?
Muller comes into this game on the back of his hat-trick against Portugal in Germany's opening match of this World Cup. In fact, the Bayern Munich man has seven goals in his last four World Cup appearances.
The game has started in Fortaleza. It's Germany v Ghana!

Germany, who crushed Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal 4-0 in the opening fixture, can go a long way towards qualifying this evening if they are able to beat the African nation. However, Ghana, without a point in Group G following their narrow 2-1 defeat at the hands of USA, will be looking to cause an upset and get off the mark.
