Rory McIlroy produced a burst of outrageous golf to send himself to the PGA Championship in Valhalla – the scene of his most recent major triumph – looking more confident than ever of finally ending his 10-year majorless run.
Hope that McIlroy will finally end his long victory drought in major championships has gradually waned since he won both the Open and US PGA in 2014.
Rory McIlroy delivered a blistering back-nine performance as he powered to victory at the PGA Tour's Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow on Sunday with a final round six-under 65."I just went on a run that, for whatever reason, I'm able to go on with this golf course," said McIlroy after his fourth win at Quail Hollow, where he enjoyed the first of his 26 PGA Tour victories as a 20-year-old back in 2010.
