When a black player complains to his club officials, those officials have a duty to listen to his complaint and take it seriously. All Chelsea are doing here is supporting one of their players, an emloyee, who is making the complaint. If Chelsea ignored a black player's complaint then the club would be accused of some sort of prejudice. By the way, I don't know if Clattenburg did or did not use inappropriate language, but a complaint had to be made. Talking of complaints being listened to, however extraordinary they may seem, it brings to mind the Jimmy Savile case? If a lot of the people who were abused by Savile had been taken seriously, he might not have got away with it for so long.
