    Well in his one match for England Carrick looked more world class than the second best player in the world.

    As for the fee, its not a straight cash for player deal, and the way these deals work man utd will have to win trophies as well as qualify for them if Spurs are to get all the money. Winning trophies not only means glory for the team but also cash for the club - the higher you finish in the EPL the more money you get, the further you go in the CL the more the cash flows in. If man utd do end up paying the full £18.5 million then quite a lot of that fee would have been earned on the football pitch.
