    When should Fergie retire?

We have known for a number of years that Fergie will retire soon.
In 2001 he announced he was going to retire at the end of that season, that season Utd did not win the league.
Eight years on the threat of that retirement is still hanging, in 2008 he said he would retire within the next 3 years.
Would this knowledge prevent top players from joining Utd, well didn't Drogba say that had he had known that Mourinho would go within a few years he would not have signed for Chelsea.
Is it worth while for Fergie to start rebuilding the squad, knowing that will take a number of years and a new manager would most likely make major changes.
The big quesion is, when you know a great man is going to leave soon is it best to hold on to him for as long as is possible or to start again as soon as possible?
I just hope he stays long enough to beat Liverpools record of league titles and to equal Bob Paisley's record of 3 European Cups with an English club.
