Anyone else worried about MoN leaving?

I thinks this season's run in is going to be pivotal in our short term future. I too think MON is a great manager but I have been critical of certain decisions. I also fear that he may walk away at some point which would be a great loss.
I have expressed many an opinion on this board about Gareth Barry and at the risk of reopening that debate I find this all incredible. The whole drive of the manager and the club at times seems to be geared around how we keep one player happy and at the club. He is a class player, but he really needs to commit or be allowed to leave and MON be given the proceeds to rebuild.
I agree about United but as Fergie is showing no signs of retiring I think we are OK for a little while on that score. I think the Champions League thing is slipping away from us now and that will make for difficult summer for the club as a whole, because of the actions taken in recent weeks what should be celebrated as a good season is in danger of appearing as failure.

I just hope for once we actually build on a promising season instead of lurching into the boom and bust that we seem to have done for as long as I have been supporting the club. There's no getting away from the fact that it is 13 years since we won anything, and we sit at a crossroads that will test the ambitions of the owner. Next season will be tougher, Arsenal won't be this bad again, Man City will not be far away nor will Everton, we will need to invest heavily just to stand still, with or without Champions League money.

    Time will Tell!!

    • Villaman - I agree with you (I must be getting old)!
The only point I would make is that Barry IS that important to the team. We'll never agree about liking Barry but the team does revolve around him. Quite simply - without him the team loses shape, the same as the England team.

So it's not about being held ransom by Barry but needing a player of his class, and there are very few about. I thought the way MoN handled the Raffa saga was excellent. We managed to keep Barry and he has given his best this season.

Whatever happens we need half a dozen top players and they won't be cheap. If Randy doesn't open up his wallet and MoN doesn't do some serious buying in the summer, this is as good as we will ever be. Losing Barry would in my opinion mean that we won't be seeing another season like this, however bad things have been recently.
