    not good enough

nice to see that yet again we have failed to take advantage of the mediocrity around us. man city at the weekend, brum, spurs and liverfool all drop big points and then there is us. take a big lead against man u, give them an own goal and then fail to capitalize on the 10 men.
from what i saw we did nothing wrong but it would appear that at the moment our "right" aint quite good enough. we had them and we let them go.
5 years ago we would have said good result, but if we really think that we can make the C L some thing major has to happen. is money the answer, i dont know but we really need to find the killer instinct and go after these wins.

    villa till i die.

    • The poor performance may help you in the Carling Cup final if Utd underestimate what Villa can do at their best. At 100% Villa can do it. You have a weeks rest so 100% is all you fans can hope for. Remember Utd have three important matches in the 12 days before they face you AC Milan away, Everton away and WHU at home. Hopefully, it takes a bit out of them.

      • Thanks for the support Andy.
Villa fans all know what the team is capable of when they get it right, but we also know just how bad we can be when we don't.

We got over the Christmas and New Year upsets and I think we handled ourselves well against United last week. It would be great to win something again. The team and the manager really deserve something for all the hard work.

    • Mike - we could have won it or we could have lost it.

This was a big match for United too. They knew a win would put them in a great position against Chelsea and we managed to stop that. With 10 men they played better than before in my opinion.

I can handle a draw against United and say we did well. It's when we drop points against the average teams or fall apart for a few minutes and lose badly to Arsenal that I'm unhappy.

With our squad and the lack of a striker I think we did a good job. The players kept their heads and individual players often outplayed their far more expensive opponents.

    • We are drawing too many games, and no money isn't the answer, too many clubs think money is the quick fix, it's not, we don't want to end up like Pompey but yes another striker wouldn't go amiss but not at the expense of breaking the bank.
Let's hope the lads we have at the moment find their shooting boots soon.

    • Look on the bright side Mike....at least we found the net twice !! :-)

You are right though...seemed to me to be content with a draw....oh well we can't do that in the final can we?
