The Wikipedia page for ex Derby County defender Paul Connolly (27) states that he is already a Leeds player - done deal then!
Ex Ipswich Town defender, David Wright (30) is rumoured to be close to signing for Leeds.
Both players have Championship experience and, despite falling out of favour with their previous managers, are probably okay.
So, two more freebies for Kuddly Ken!
I just don't think we can go straight up without spending some serious money on at least one key player.
Bryan, don't believe everything on Wikipedia; but often it gets info more or less right.
I didn’t see Federico Bessone on the ‘rumours’ radar and don’t know much about him. Swansea fans seem to rate him and reckon he’s a player who is ‘coming good’ – “…bombs up and down the left flank and has a great ability to send over quality crosses”
That the Swans wanted to keep him says a lot. In addition, with over 100 matches in the Spanish top division on his CV Bessone has to be an asset.
Bessone and Parker will fight for the LB shirt (as for White, I think he is more of a left-winger) but I can’t see ‘Federico’ signing for Leeds just to sit on our bench.
It is interesting to see how Larry is putting this new team together. With the new LB and RB signings, both capale of charging up the flanks, and with Beckford gone, I can't see us playing hoof and hope.
Next season could provide good, entertaining football. How successful it will be depends on what further, quality, signings Larry/Bates make. CB, CM, additional striker (and Watt?) will be expensive and I can't see negotiations on these being finalised before mid July - hopefully leaving enough time for the new squad to practice playing together!
Bryan, I follow your reasoning and it is a worry that we do not have an abundance of young talent coming through, this however seems to be "universal" in England. Manchester United are a case in question, where are the young Beckhams, Scholes, Giggs ? Further afield where are the next John Terry's or Rio Ferdinands etc. I am sure Bates will expect SG to get promoted on the back of the "scraps" he can pick up for free. The good thing is (if we get to the EPL first time) we will be rid of Bates as he will sell the club to the highest bidder and then boast about how he was the messiah who got Leeds United back to the top league !!
Well good old KK will be happy, his bank balance is intact and not a bad bit of business by SG, on 2 counts anyway, not heard of or know of the Derby guy is he any good chaps. As for a money signing hmmm we will see

Hi Vinny, did you get the bottle of whisky!
Yeah, Old Kuddly should be happy with business so far but we're still a few signings short of a team capable of challenging for promotion. At some point Kuddly is going to have to make money available if he wants to see his investment (haha) in Leeds pay off - offering three year contracts to the new recruits suggests that he does. or...
Dunno a lot about Connolly - Plymouth did well when he was captain but he fell out of favour at Derby. We need to see him play for Leeds. In the meantime, I'm happy to go along with Larry's judgement.
So, it's now official, we've signed Paul Connolly!
He's another 'free' signing but that doesn't mean he's without worth. This guy is pretty good. The RB position has been a big concern and Connolly, with his experience of captaining a CCC side, could be just what is needed to work with our new, young goal stopper to marshal our defence.
Dunno about us celerating Bates getting his cheque book out just yet, but I'm pleased to see SG putting the new team together methodically.
Here are a few leads to suggest who Leeds is looking at:
Rob Hulse from Derby County www.coventrytelegraph.net/co...
Gary Hooper from Scunthorpe www.sportscunny.co.uk/headli...
Andy O’Brien from Bolton
Paul Connolly from DerbyCounty www.thisisderbyshire.co.uk/s...
James McArthur from Hamilton Academical www.yeoldetreeandcrown.co.uk...
but Crewe, Birmingham and a few other clubs in addition to Leeds are chasing his signature.
It does seem a bit too good to be true but several things suggest that it is. For instance this quote from Ken Bates:
"We are planning to bring in a number of trialists from overseas in the second week of July and, who knows, we might even find another (Luciano) Becchio on the pitch out there."
Silva is, apparently, Becchio's child's godfather (or vice versa) and if he is to make the change to European footall this connection would provide comfort and support.
No doubt Silva's ambition is the EPL but so is Becchio's; they might think they can help one another.
At 29 Silva will be looking to secure a decent retirement and Europe would offer more than South America...
Who knows! It would be a great signing if it comes off.
