    Three positions

Centre back, centre midfield and centre forward.. the three positions that most urgently need strenghtening.. Forget about who we have been linked with, who would you like to see? Realistic choices preferred...

    • Yep, Alan, the guy has the awards to prove it.

    • He's just a name I threw into the hat, Andy, because of Bates reluctance to throw cash around. He only scored about 6 last season, but with the service your guys could give him he'd do the business.
100 per center Steve is---every club he's played for the fans have taken to him, and he's also a good number 5. But he's 34, I've been on the dog and bone to Larry and he said he's already been thinking about it.

    • 'Sounds too good to be true, Alan. Why would Leicester release a 20 goal striker to a competitor for £500K? 'Give Larry a call.

    • Pete, you ask a good question but there are no easy answers, except 'don't know'. The 'realistic choices' caveat ensures that we don't know because players we are likely to know about will have high profiles and, threfore, high price tags.
When the average value of a player in the Leeds squad is circa £500K, recruiting players with tags of over £1M is sure to cause disharmony. Hooper, for instance, could certainly do a job for us but, with an asking price of £2.5M, how is that going to make Paynter, Becchio et al feel?
For the sake of harmony and team integrity, I'd prefer to see Larry strengthen key position with surprisingly good unknowns - probably from abroad; as he seems to have written-off our present crop of Academy youngsters.

      • The Leeds’ (playing) squad is still less than 25. There are seven (or more) other players to be either loaned or sold to other clubs. Seven more will then be needed to bring us up to a healthy 32-man squad. Look at the squad list below, it shows where we need strengthening.

        GK Kasper Schmeichel
        GK Shane Higgs
        GK Alan Martin
        GK Ryan Jones

LB Ben Parker (likely injured for start of season)
        LB Federico Bessone
        RB Paul Connolly
        RB Jason Crowe
CB Patrick Kisnorbo (injured for first few months of season)
CB Richard Naylor (currently struggling for fitness)
        CB Leigh Bromby
        CB Neill Collins.
        CB Tom Lees
        UT Andy Hughes

        WG Robert Snodgrass
WG Max Gradel (4 match suspension)
        WG Lloyd Sam
        CM Neil Kilkenny
        CM Jonny Howson
        CM Bradley Johnson
        LM Aidan White

        ST Lucianno Becchio
        ST Billy Paynter
        ST Mike Grella
ST Davide Somma (3 match suspension)

Grayson says, ‘players can force themselves back into favour’. This now seems unlikely as none of the following travelled to the close season games:

        Alan Sheehan
        Tresor Kandol
        Andy Robinson
        Lubomir Michalik

Elliott, Hatfield, and Jones were not included in the touring side. It would seem that they are surplus to requirements.
