Looking at the squad as it stands, minus loan and axed players, and players likely not to be with us next season – Grella and Bessone (transfer listed); Kilkenny and Johnson (end of contract); Kisnorbo (needs to prove fitness); Parker (injured all the time); Bruce (out of favour) – and not counting young players, we are left with a squad of 16:
DF Connolly, Bromby, White, O'Brien, and Tom Lees;
MF Gradel, Clayton, Nunez, Howson, Sam, and Snodgrass;
ST Becchio, Somma, McCormack, and Paynter.
In addition, if lucrative bids for Snodgrass (and possibly Gradel and Schmeichel) are accepted then Simon Grayson will have a problem even fielding a starting XI next term.
We need new players and recruiting them could cost more than we might make from the sale of Snodgrass et al – for instance, how much would we have to pay to, say, get Kieran Dyer?
Looking at the list of players currently available on free transfers, I have put an asterisk next to the player I think Leeds needs in that position based on who I think we could sign (i.e. I don’t think we can expect to get the likes of Jay Bothroyd). However, what are your thoughts?

Gave him a bell, Peter, as you suggested. We had a good chat because I know his old man quite well, used to kick him about on the pitch. Michael said he'd love to pop to Elland Road for a chat, but he's a bit concerned at why a number of the better players are packing their bags. His agent reckons Bates is standing his ground and showing no ambition.
H---I can hear Andy banging the keys now.

One good point about Brownie, who's from Hartlepool of course. He runs till he drops and always wants to be amongst it. The type of player who's always in demand by some club wanting to install aggression combined with a fair amount of skill.
H---I've still got his phone number.
Add Tamir Cohen, Keiron Dyer and Joey O'Brien to that list... these are players that are confirmed a having exited their clubs, not just those who are about to run out of contract... Any in the list you like the sound of??
