The problem Leeds will have playing QPR is planning tactics when it doesn’t know what team QPR will field. QPR has a surfeit of quality players for most key positions – e.g. Yun or Dunne in defence; Granero, or Wright-Phillips, or Traore; Henry or Jenas in midfield; Austin or Zamora up front? QPR has strength in depth but, let’s hope, this strength is also a weakness as those quality players will compete with one another and may not gel as a team.
It’s a sure bet that, man for man, Leeds will not outplay QPR but, by playing as a team, it could frustrate the best efforts of QPR’s star players; enabling us to hit them on the counter.
I would love to see Rudy Austin bullying Joey Barton in midfield – if it came to blows there would only one winner! And without Barton directing play, the rest of the QPR players would be running around like headless chickens.
My fear for this match is Leeds conceding an early goal, again! If this happens, I don’t think QPR will be soft enough to allow us to recover. However, if it is 0-0 at half-time I can see Leeds sneaking a 1-0 victory!
